Marianne had gotten into a town a few day ago. She took some time to situate herself in her new apartment. It was strange not to be living in the dorms, though, but she also found it liberating. She wasn't in town as a student. She was an artist. It had been seven years since she had been in the town, although she had kept tabs with a very special person throughout those years. Dr. Sean Neville was like a father to her. She had barely known her real one and it had been a long time since her grandfather had passed away. Upon coming to Hammel, Marianne found herself in Dr. Neville's office. It hadn't taken long before she felt connected to him and wanted to call him Dad. She never gained the guts to tell him how she felt about their relationship until a few years ago in a letter.
It was time to go see him though. It would be the first time she had actually seen him in 7 years. Sure she sent letter and pictures, but that wasn't the same. Here she was on her way to the school but she was beyond nervous. She was looking forward to it so much, but she didn't know what Sean would say or how he would respond to her. She had become bolder from her experience in Paris, so she was determined to see him.
She locked the door to her apartment and headed out. The sun was shining brightly, making her pale skin look more fair than usual. She was wearing light colors and some flip flops, carrying her large bag filled with art and a few other things along. Her hair bounced along with her steps, moving in the gentle breeze in the air. She was taking a chance that he would be in his office, although from what she remembered he probably would be.
Walking on to campus as a 25 year old adult was a new experience. So many memories flooded her mind, along with finding the things that weren't there 7 years ago. As she approached his office, seeing the open door, she began to feel guilty for not visiting much sooner (several years sooner). She couldn't change that fact now, and she hoped that he would welcome her and be glad to see her.
She peaked in and saw him working on a little paper work. She smiled, thinking back to the time she had first met him. It was something very similar to this. She leaned against the doorway and smiled at him, "Hey stranger."
