For the last two hours, Midori had been watching the clock in the corner of her computer screen. She was having a hard time concentrating, which was irritating. It wasn’t the usual distractions, either. It was her looming appointment with Dr. Neville. She sighed and sipped the ginger ale she’d brought to work with her, trying to keep the nausea at bay.
Time ticked by at a ridiculous rate. Mii tapped her pen against her monitor, wishing time would just skip on by. Her anxiety over meeting with the psychiatrist was tangible, but she knew she had to go. Sean would help her. And she knew she needed it. Just a few more minutes, and she could go down.
Scheduling the meeting had been stressful enough. She’d given him the gist of the situation. And while Eli had given her her options, that was all she had. She knew what she wanted to do. Even the thought of termination had made her want to smack her best friend. (Gently, of course.) But she didn’t know how to handle the steps forward. Namely, how in the hell was she going to tell her parents? She just didn’t know.
Hopefully, Dr. Neville would have some idea of how to help her.
She glanced at the clock again. It was time to go. She’d already told James she was going to meet with the psychiatrist for a little while. He’d been fine with her going for a little while.
Mii headed down the hall, trying to keep herself calm. This wasn’t going to be an easy meeting. She wasn’t expecting it to be. So she just knocked on his door and took a slow, deep breath in. She could do this.
