"Tess! Get down from there! You're such an idiot..."
"Oh, pfft, live a little, will you? I'm fine and I swear I saw her put the keys up here,"
"Shit! I hear someone coming! Everyone get out of here!"
The sudden flurry of activity made Tess lose her precarious balance and crash down onto the cement floor. The keys in question had been to the supply cabinet for various pieces of gym equipment and it had been Tess's grand idea to open it up off hours. The crash had been not so spectacular, though Tess managed to gash her arm on the desk tray she fell on. The voices of vanished friends had been right though, someone was coming. Grabbing her leather jacket and slipping out the window. If she left that, she might as well just scribbled her name all over the walls in permanent marker. Tess ran a hand through her hair and tried to look like she hadn't just pulled an attempted raid.
-------------------------------------------------------
"You've got to go see the nurse,"
Tess's brow furrowed annoyedly at the advice as she washed her war wound off in the bathroom sink before class. "I'm fine. If you hadn't ditched me, maybe someone would have been there to hold things steady," Tess snarled, the soap stinging as she rinsed it again. The bell rang and Tess cursed. Hastily throwing her jacket over her shoulders, Tess grabbed up her bag and headed to class. She didn't really hear what the professor droned about it.
She was sure it was important, but her mind was other places. Doodling meaningless things, she circled back on her snapping back in the bathroom. It was getting worse. And now she was starting to actually push her away. Tess's hand gripped into her hair as she rested her head against it. After what seemed like ages, the bell finally rang and classes were over.
--------------------------------------------------------
"Are you going to be at the dorm later?"
A shrug as Tess dug through her locker before slamming it shut and fixing at the strap on her bag. "Dunno, I've got...things I need to do," Tess said, starting to walk down the hall.
"Like?"
Tess didn't answer, she forced herself to get lost in the swarms of people in the halls. Her arm kept banging into people sending a jolt of pain up her shoulder every now and again. But Tess was pretty numb to it at this point in the day. Her mind was getting cluttered and she needed to clear it out. Stopping by a water fountain, she got a drink, trying to focus. She looked down the hall and saw a familiar row of offices.
She shivered a bit, the weight of her bag suddenly getting heavier. His door was always open wasn't it? Tess took in a breath as she forced herself to walk down the hall. The light was warm and calming, Tess bristled against it now as she had before. Fake, manufactured calm never sat well with her.
She stopped at the open door. She could hear the rustle of papers from inside but she still stopped. Fixing at the jacket, pulling it a bit closer, Tess cleared her throat and knocked at the door, the thing swinging some against her knuckles. She looked like she had had a long day, the dark circles under her eyes were back and she didn't know, but her yellow shirt had a few speckles of red from earlier.
"Doc? Was wondering, wondering if you had some time to kill?" Tess asked from the door, looking back to the end of the hallway, a quick check.
