Although Hart had applied at Hammel shortly after talking with Dr. Neville, he still hadn't brought it up with Sloane. Truthfully he was nervous about how she would take this; he didn't want her to be upset with him for no longer working with him, after all. So much of their time spent together was on lunch break, simply because as one of only three officers in town Sloane had a very rough schedule.
Still, he had gotten news that he had the job, which meant he had to tell her. And what better opportunity than on Halloween?
He had invited her over, and they were hanging out on the stoop of his townhome, bowl of candy ready to hand out to any children that stopped by. Hart had dressed as a scarecrow, complete with overalls and a bandana around his neck.
His parents would surely be horrified.
"So, uhhh." He began as they watched spiderman and a bumblebee scamper away down the sidewalk. "There's something I need to tell you."
