Think before you speak. Read before you think

She continued to ignore the older man as he obviously wanted to talk, and she obviously wanted to read. It was the only logical explanation. After all, she wouldn't put the book down until he told her too. She wasn't going to ignore a direct order from a superior teacher f course, but until that was done, she was going to continue to read. After all Catherine Novella was a great multi-tasker.

" Ah but books are the best things to hide behind." Well if he wanted feelings he was going to get them, as much as she hated the idea. "Really, people leave you alone when you are reading. It is so much better then..." Cat looked at him and gave a small smirk. "Interacting with people."

Ever since she was little Catherine had never been a people person. Oh no there as nothing wrong with her people skills, she just chose to ignore them and continue to live her solitary life. People were odd, books were amazing. Books didn't change, Books didn't let you down, books were more human then human. That is why Catherine preferred books to humans.

Flipping the page she grinned as her favorite character came into the story.

True it may have been a bit immature to ignore the person standing and sitting right there in front of you, but it wasn't as if he just couldn't read her mind anyway. If he really wanted to talk with her, wanted to converse with her, he could. It was only that he chose not to at this point in time. Part of the things she hated most about telepaths was the great invasion of privacy.

It may not have been true for every telepath out there, but it was the thought that with just a thought someone could go into your head ad know your deepest thoughts. That is what really scared her. Those were for her and her alone. No matter what she just wanted to be left alone. There were so many people on this planet it would make more sense for her to just be left alone.

Why couldn't noisy telepaths and shrinks leave her alone?

" I can ignore anything." That should explain it right? She could and would ignore anything she didn't want to acknowledge. It was just what she was. People were stupid, aways would be stupid. Nothing he said or did could change her mind on that information. The difference between her and the good doctor was that people actually would give a shit if something happened to him. Her on the other hand? Yea...

It was just the way that life was. People were stupid and no one really gave a care about anyone other then themselves. She had learned this through years ad years of experience. It wasn't as i she didn't want to believe in humanity, she just couldn't. There wasn't good anymore. Not that the world was evil. Just apathetic. People just didn't care.

When he ordered her to put the book away she sighed putting it away. She wasn't going to ignore a direct order from a superior. That was rude, and Cat, if anything, wasn't rude. " Better?" She may not be rude, but she wasn't going to cooperate so easily.

Really though. What such behavior would land her here? Out of all the teachers, all the officials, all of the people here she would have to say that she disliked the psychologist the most. Not that this had any basis of course, there was just something about him she didn't like.She couldn't place it, but she knew i was something. Her grandmother had always told her to trust her gut, well she was trusting it. It rarely led her wrong. Dr. Neville didn't know the stubbornness he was dealing with.

Of course he wouldn't get into an argument with her, she would win. That was the end of it. She suspected that the reason he did not further comment on her comment of hiding, well was because he didn't call her here for that reason. All she wanted was to remain hidden. The man sitting across the desk prohibited her from doing that. That offense in itself was quite horrible. After all who was he to tell her she couldn't hide?

Especially when she was so good at it?

He should let her be. She wasn't hurting anyone, wasn't getting anyone else involved, if anything she just wanted to be left alone. People were stupid that was the end of it. She could avoid anything and anyone, hell she had done it long enough. Why this person was sticking his nose into her business she didn't know. All she knew was that she wanted him out. As soon as possible.

Cat nodded and looked at the psychologist as she tilted her head at him. She had done as he asked, now what? This whole thing was useless and taking up her time.

Oh, so that is what it was. "He overstepped his boundaries and I set him straight." That was all that had happened. She currently wasn't on speaking terms with the librarian and doubted she would be for a while.

She wasn't looking forward to this whole thing. She also didn't understand it. For her she had not done anything wrong. Why was she even here? Sighing she looked over at the man sitting behind the desk and frowned not liking this situation at all.

But of course she had no choice in the matter. All of the rules were in his favor. His word was law. A child has no choice, and in the eyes of the school she was a child. Before she had never collided with the school. She followed rules, kept a good grade, didn't get in trouble. All this was was a mind bump in the road. For her she was mostly...annoyed at this whole situation. This was her business not Doctor Neville's. It would never be his business. As long as no harm came to any other student or to herself she expected everything to be done in a professional way.

It was when professionalism mixed with personal feelings that things got messed up. That is why she hated the profession that Doctor Neville had gone into.

His very job was an oxymoron. How was one to be detached from personality and personal feelings when their whole job revolved around it? She wasn't and didn't appreciate the job he was doing. It wasn't of any help to her.

She stared at him as he spoke voicing his request. "Quite frankly, Doctor Neville, Although I will answer any question you ask with straightforwardness and bluntless I am not sure why I am here. I dealt with a matter that was personal between Mr. Morrison and myself. How you came into the situation I do not know." Taking a deep breath, now that that was out of her system she looked forward looking at a space past his head. "Now to answer your previous question Mr Morrison did something that went against my core values, thus hurting my pride. I confronted him, and he yet again denied it. There was yelling and eventually I ended up leaving the office in tears." She cast a look over to the psychiatrist. "I will acknowledge that I lost sight of myself, and I will acknowledge that it might not have been handled in the best way, but I still do not see how it was called for, for you to intervene."

Cat pushed her glasses up her nose and glanced over at the doctor. "Is that a satisfactory answer to your question?"

Now Sean should get this wrong. Cat doesn't like you personally, it is just your job and what that means. She has no qualms with the person sitting across from her. It was just with his job. Now that that fact has been cleared up Cat would like to say something else. She really hates psychologists. The whole thing where they mess with people's minds made it worse. She sighed a bit looking over at the man. She wondered what and how he had come into this position. It was an odd thing to wonder, the life of a person. Especially the life of a teacher. While Doctor Neville wasn't a teacher specifically, he was in a position of order and rules here at the academy. So it gave her something to think about. For one, he had obviously gone to Hammel, for another she was confused. Why would he even want to come back?

That as such made the less sense to her. She wouldn't want to come back, wouldn't want to visit. It wasn't in her nature and it wasn't in her disposition.

Maybe he had had a better time here then she did though.

She wouldn't be surprised if he had, it would make sense. His ever cheerful attitude, his outlook that things were always going to loo up. This just wasn't Cat. Cat was a realist. She wasn't going to cloud the truth of things. THe truth of things was that life was harsh and wrong and there was nothing anyone could do about it.

Really all you could do was live through it. There was none of this, take charge of your own destiny crap that would sway cat to one side or another. It was what it was, all you have to do was deal with your own choice and act out the consequences. Which is why she realized that when she yelled this was just the consequences. Oh well. This just had reinforced that she should keep to herself. A) She wouldn't get hurt that way and B) she wouldn't have to deal with nasty consequences.

Because no one liked dealing with consequences.

Good. As long as that answered his question. She sat on the chair waiting for him to continue with the questioning period. Sighing she looked over at him propping herself up on an elbow. "So what is your next question?" The sooner this was over the better.

So that was his justification. She thought a bit before she spoke one more time. "Ah, so it was the fact that it was emotional? To be frank, this is not meant to offend at all, but this was personal. Between Mister Morrison and I. I know you think you are justified to intervene, and on one level you are, but please know that I am just fine as I am. This whole thing is sorted a far as I can tell, not to mention I intend to forget it ever happened. With you continuing to bring the subject up though, as a person I am morally unable to do that." She looked over at him with a grin. "But really, why teenager do you know that has never gotten into an augment with a teacher?"

Because that was the teenage mentality after all.

Surely Dr. Neville had his right mind about him. Other wise, why in the world would he even think about coming back. It just went to show that no matter what she did it would end up wrong with this man. She couldn't understand it, couldn't understand him. All she wanted was to be normal, and she would never be normal. For her she wasn't sure what would happen, other then that she was sure that she couldn't do anything about it.

She still didn't understand this whole thing. Hadn't she been good the two years she ad been here. She went to class, worked, was in a club. What did she ever do that was so wrong. Cat didn't know and understand. All she was sure of was that she wasn't who everyone thought she was, if they even thought of her at all. Cat was used to being hidden, used to just avoiding people. People were scary, and mean, and cruel. There was nothing that could be said against that.

Scoffing at his admittance Cat rolled her eyes. "Doctor Neville, to be frank that was another time and place. I have the utmost respect for teachers here. Unlike other student's I don't make trouble and I don't intend to. All that your statement proved was what sort of student you were and what attitude you held." She was right, he couldn't refute that. It was all she could do to not get up and leave right there.

Lord knows she wanted to.

"You say emotions are personal and conducts are not. That in itself makes sense, but if you think about it logically, the door was closed, there was no intention of involving others. You were the one to eavesdrop, the one to intrude. You are in the wrong here." Yes. Hiding was still an option.
