Mexican food. Mexican food. Mexican food.
Okay, maybe Danny was still having issues expressing how happy he was to be going to a real Mexican meal. So it was only sort of real. They didn’t really have guacamole and nothing was as spicy as Danny remembered, but after several months, the man from California wasn’t sure he cared. There was salsa, chips, and burritos. Even if it wasn’t as authentic as what he could get in LA, it was still a taste of home, and that made him absolutely delighted.
Not that this was an abnormal state for Danny to be in, but you get the general point.
“Thank you so much for suggesting the place,” he told Sean happily as they came in. “I wouldn’t have even known about it! It smells great!” He grinned up at the other and taller man. “And thanks for driving, I appreciate it.”
Normally, Danny would have been uncomfortable in Sean’s presence. After all, they had slept together, and Danny’s one night stands hadn’t ever turned out that well in the morning (not that he did it often, but the few experiences he’d had hadn’t been good ones). And then there had been those pictures with Josh. But Sean had been kind enough not to mention those and he’d had a wonderful morning with him after they’d first met, so when Sean had called to offer a meal, Danny had decided to dismiss any awkwardness that he felt with the other man. He wasn’t really worried about romance or returning to where they’d started. As far as he knew, Sean was now seeing Josh—which didn’t surprise Danny, considering how Josh had reacted after their strange breakup-friendship thing. He was happy about that. They both deserved to be happy. So tonight was just a dinner with a friend. And that was pretty nice.
“So,” he said once they’d been seated. “How are you doing? How is everything up at the school?”
He was curious. It had been a while, after all, and he wanted to know what was up in Sean’s life. It wasn’t like he had much to report—just model making and the like, and some time spent with Riley and Griff. Good things, but not that interesting.
