Coffee and Toast, A Breakfast Adventure(Sean)

Oh my gosh! there were so many people out and about this morning. Jen wondered if there was something that had been going on, an event of some sort or if more people just wanted to stop by the diner. If they did she wouldn't blame them, the food was good and the service was friendly. The perfect place or breakfast.

She had found the diner while she was on her drive to and from the hospital. It wasn't a big place per se, and it wasn't that it stood out in any way. It was normal. Jen liked normal and thought that sometimes normal gave you the best surprises. The diner had become a special place to her over the past year and she liked the atmosphere. Thus was the process in which she had become a regular.

Jen waved as Marie, the owner, waved at her. Marie was as one might put it, a kind soul. She cooked for you to eat and enjoy while her cooking could easily put all your troubles to rest. Since she had gotten here Marie had sort of taken Jen under her wing. Jen was most certainly grateful and would often leave little gifts for Marie, or if the rent wasn't being paid it would be. Little things made everyone's day better.

As Jen nursed her coffee, watching all of the customers come and go she smiled. She loved that the diner was getting so much business and was one of the places that it was good for business to be booming. She did notice however someone come up and sit by her as he came in. The diner was quite crowded so she was fine with it. All the more business for Marie.

Jen was startled at the sudden voice talking to her. She wasn't expecting it but turned to the man who spoke. how did he? Oh right she was wearing scrubs, that made it more apparent. "Yes I did, The place has the best breakfast around so i stopped here on my way home." Jen grinned watching him. " I recommend their chocolate chip waffles. Extremely tasty."

Jen smiled at the man that had sat by her. She was glad that Marie had her business, it was always a better thing when she was able to make money. It kept the bills paid and herself quite happy with who she was. Since she was able to support a local business owner, it made it all the better.

It was so nice that the restaurant was full The atmosphere was quite amazing, whether it was intended to be that way. So many people were starting their day, starting to just open up. The cafe was always able to liven it up a bit, get everyone ready to go and rejuvenated. It was something she loved about the tiny place. No matter what she was glad she had moved here, barring the circumstances.

The circumstances were the only downfall. She gave a small, sad smile just thinking about it.

" Ah no, its busy today so I went with toast. It's easier on Marie." Jen smiled at him and nodded. As long as she was a help that was a good thing. No matter what that is what she would want. Taking a sip of her coffee she smiled quite content. "I love this place."

Jen smiled looking at the older man. " I'm just happy I can help." That was the big thing. Marie had done so much for her, that it was a no-brainier that Jen wanted to be of help to her friend.

All she really wanted was to be able to help.

Jen nodded enthusiastically as the man said he also loved it. " Always. It is great for night shifts and graveyard shifts." Which was a huge help to her, especially when she knew she didn't feel like cooking.

Smiling Jen nursed her coffee, taking in the delicious aroma. Really it amazed her how good coffee was sometimes. Just the thought of it could always make her smile. That much was for certain and Jen loved the smell of it even more. Her favorite was actually sinckerdoodle. That was the best, in her opinion. In fact that was what she had in her cup at the moment anyway.

Jen was surprised at his question but nodded smiling. "It was fairly quiet this time around, no major accidents so that was nice." And also good for the people as well. Less accidents meant less time rooms occupied.

" Quite." Helping people was always a nice thing and it was something Jen strove to accomplish in her everyday life.

" I take as many as I can so others don't have to. I don't have a family or kids so those that do, should be able to spend time with their loved ones." Jen was fine with the late night shifts and the graveyard shifts. It really didn't bother her.

It was evident that he was going to enjoy the breakfast and Jen was grateful. Marie's cooking really was the best. She took a sip of her coffee and nodded appreciatively as he ordered.

"Yup. Less work means less injuries and bad things happening to people physically." That was always a good thing, no matter what the occasion was.

Jen smiled and nodded right back at him. She knew it was odd to think this way but it was probably better for everyone. Besides all she wanted to do was be a help and if those that had families could stay home it was all the better. " So what do you do now?" Jen tilted her head curious at his words.

People really were interesting.

Jen smiled as she spread the raspberry jam on her toast. It was so sweet and good it just made her smile to no end. She knew that she was almost always smiling and that it would always brighten her day. That reminded her. She needed to go to the florist and pick up flowers for the reception desk. It was better to have fresh flowers to brighten the day.

Jen nodded almost immediately after his words left his mouth. "you are right, have you worked in a hospital before?" Jen was only asking because it sounded as if he had from the way he talked about the situation.

Lets just hope she was on the right track talking to this man. She didn't know him but she hoped that he would be nice. Nice people were nice.

"Oh?" Jen wondered what exactly he did at the school. "Are you the nurse? or the doctor?" Jen gave a small smile before looking down. "What is it like working with the kids?"Jen had always liked kids. She had originally wanted to be a pediatric nurse, but as she worked she found it too sad. Plus she got in trouble for sneaking in cookies.

" Oh do you mean things such as psychicals?"Jen tilted her head at the thoughts. "You seem very efficient." Grinning Jen gave a small smile. "My nurse in high school wasn't. He ended up getting students names mixed up and giving wrong medicines." As she looked back now she thought it a bit funny.

Jen nodded in enthusiasm as he continued to tell more of his tale. It was always fun to find out more about others. Their history, where they had come from, where they were going. All Jen wanted was for them to have a happy future. " You are right though, working at a hospital is certainly a life changing experience. "

Jen waved as the waitress came over and gave them the breakfast sandwich. Smiling she passed over the plate and the cup, she was done, before the waitress went back to the kitchen. It was seen that she would give a generous tip on the way out. Waitress's needed all the money they could get.

Jen had to laugh at Sean's words. "The hours are something else I suppose." They didn't really bother her though.
