The Basics
Name: Julia Clark
Nicknames: Jules
Age: 25
Orientation: Asexual
Desired Rank/Job: Local/ Consignment Shop Employee
Powers: Soap Bubble Creation/Manipulation – By forming an “O” with her index finger and thumb, Julia has the ability to blow soap bubbles out of the soapy discretion she can produce from her hands. She can manipulate the bubbles, to change their shape, color, size and movement. One draw back from her power is that her hands get a little sticky from time to time. And when she is nervous or stressed her hands get soapy. She also never has to worry about not having any soap to wash her hands, although finding water to rinse them off can be a problem.

General Appearance: Over the years Julia has gotten used to either being mistaken for a boy or hit on by other girls who think she’s into that. She doesn’t hold it against anyone though because she understands their reasoning. Still, that doesn’t stop her from dressing how she feels comfortable, or wearing her hair short.
Julia shops in the mens’ or boys’ department of stores and wears baggy or ripped jeans most of the time. She also has a large collection of hats, but her favorites are beanie caps or fedoras. She keeps her hair short and usually spikes it with gel. Although she’s not much for make-up she’s not completely against it. But she usually saves it for special occasions.
She’s not one to care if her clothes are torn or stained. As long as they are semi-clean it’s usually the first thing in her drawers (or on the floor) that she puts on in the morning. Most of her wardrobe is from the consignment shop where she works.
Personality: Julia does not have the best conversation skills in the world. It’s not that she is shy, just that words fail her a lot. So “um” appears a lot in her conversations. She makes up for it though in hand gestures, facial expressions, and general body language. Julia is the kind of person who sits in chairs backwards, walks on the curbs, and splays across the entire length of the couch. She has no personal space bubble and often forgets that other people don’t feel the same way. Always in the mood for a cuddle or a hug, Julia is the kind of person who will attack hug someone in public. Or wrestle them to the floor in a tickle match.
Speaking of friends, Julia doesn’t believe age is a factor in who she can be pals with. In fact, she’d rather be hanging out with a group of old ladies playing bridge or at a preschool playing hide-and-seek than chilling with people her own age most of the time. She does a few friends closer to her age, most people in their late teens and twenties annoy her. She thinks they’re all far too busy looking for parties to get wasted and get lucky. Although she enjoys drinking, she has a different of how to have a good time while drinking.
She’s defiantly not the one to go looking for romance, since she doesn’t believe in marriage or any of the icky love stuff. She doesn’t get what the big deal is about having a boy or girlfriend. Although it’s well and good for others, it’s not something she’s into. Although admittedly she hasn’t had any experience testing it out, but she doesn’t see that changing anytime soon.
Julia hardly ever acts her age. But that doesn’t mean she’s always childish. It just that it’s usually one extreme or the other. For example, she might be sitting in front of the TV watch cartoons and eating chocolate cereal and then go to a wine-tasting with some of her older friends.
Julia tries to always tell the truth, even when it might not be welcome. It can sometimes get her into trouble, but she believes it’s important. Besides, she’s not very good at lying in the first place.

History
Julia’s mother, Chelsea, was 12 years old when she gave birth. She claimed she had no idea who the father was. Chelsea’s parents insisted that she put Julia up for adoption and she didn’t put up much of fight since she didn’t want the responsibility.
Julia bounced around in the foster care system for the first eleven years of her life. Although she never had a permanent home or family, she was always a happy-go-lucky sort of kid. The only problem she had as a child was associating with her peers. Even then, Julia always felt more comfortable around people either older or younger than herself. She would rather take with her foster parents about how their jobs were going them play with her foster siblings. But the fact never bothered her, she was just happy that she find at least someone she got along with.
This pattern of interaction with her peers continued even after she arrived at Hammel. She never got along great with her roommate, although the fact that Julia pounced on the poor girl the first time they met might have had something to do with that. Instead she always spent time hanging out with the staff or older students.
Her first few years at Hammel, Julia was a little ashamed of her power. It had taken her almost three months to realize that bubble blowing was part of it. First she just thought her power was to have soap covered hands. But even with the bubbles, she never felt like her power stacked up with the rest of the students. With help from a few of the staff members, Julia moved past it. They pointed out that her power was only a small part of her entire person. It would be like being ashamed that she had blonde hair when she really wanted red.
Julia did well at Hammel, grade-wise and afterwards enrolled at a Green Mountain College. She planned to major in Adventure Education, with the idea of working at a camp or retreat after she graduated. Halfway through her sophomore year, however, Julia lost her motivation. Too many papers and tests.
She moved back to Pilot Ridge since she had enjoyed the town while she had been a student. After working at several different fast food restaurants, Julia finally found a job at a local consignment shop that suited her personality and work ethic. Besides, she enjoyed the idea of having an employee discount on the already inexpensive clothing.
Still there was something missing. She had friends, but she still longed for some sort of family. She felt a family could give her a sense of belonging that she’d never had. But since she had no desire to date, marry, or have children it wasn’t likely that she would ever see that dream come true.
She met her current roommate at the library. Although he was old enough to be her father, the two of them got along well. They started meeting up at coffee shops, going to see plays at the local theater, or just taking a walk around town. Julia confided in him her desire to have a family, a place to feel like home, and fear that that would never happen. And her friend revealed similar dreams of wanting to have children, but being homosexual he also feared his dreams were unlikely to come true.
It was unconventional, and some of Julia’s friends didn’t understand her living with a gay man twice her age, but for the first time Julia felt like she belonged somewhere. Her roommate gave her Watson as a sort of “homewarming” gift when she moved in. She has lived with him for the past three years. Although he has a different view on relationships and has guests over from time to time, Julia learned give him privacy when needed and it hasn’t been a problem.
