General Appearance:
Lux has very welcoming and warm eyes, and her smile can be quite charming. She's quite beautiful in a common way. She has a slim figure and she's about 5'5 tall, and weighs around 97 lbs. She usually wears comfortable clothes, such as singlets, hoodies, shorts, etc. She doesn't have a particularly girly way to dress, but her clothes shows her figure without revealing too much. Her hair is usually loose or tied up in a ponytail.

She gains a slight hint of freckles after being out in the sun, and her skin tans easily. Her fingernails are long and well treated, and is usually colored in crazy colors. She bites her lip whenever she's worried, and gets a wrinkle above her left eyebrow whenever she's angry. Due to her eyelashes being naturally dark, and her skin tanned, she doesn't wear any makeup.
Personality:
Lux is usually a bubbly, charming and outgoing girl, but she also tends to be shy around new people. Her shyness comes from the horror of letting people close. Also, due to her past, she doesn't trust people easily, and can often come off as rude or cold when people try to get close. She's quite mature and wise beyond her years, as a result of living on the street. She has quite the temper too, and she's not afraid to tell people straight out what she means, though her temper rarely get the best of her. She's a natural leader, though she dislike being one. She doesn't like making decisions that affect other people than herself.

Lux is the kind of person who gets happy over the smallest acts of kindness, or the smallest sign of care and warmth. Though she might not always show it. She usually likes being alone, because she believes it makes it easier for her to keep people away. She's extremely afraid of being hurt, so she'd rather be all alone, than risking pain. All though deep down inside, being alone is what she fears the most. She's extremely stubborn, and hates being told what to do.

She never backs down from a fight even though she's not much of a violent person. She doesn't like causing others harm, but that doesn't mean she'll let anyone push her around either.

When her powers grew out of control, her parents left her. She felt extremely ashamed about her powers, as well as with her parents. She decided to not talk about them until her powers were under control, and she's ready to face them again. Whenever people ask about her parents, she'll just tell them that they live far away, too far to visit.

History

Lux was born early in March in a small unnamed town. She was raised by a strict and highly religious family. Her childhood was pretty normal, all though, at the age of five she was out playing by a river near her childhood home, fell into the water and almost drowned. If it hadn't been for a small Fennec Fox who howled out as she fell in the water, her parents would've never have noticed her in the water. She's been afraid of water ever since, and refused to take swimming classes.

Lux got a pet for Christmas when she was six, a white ferret she named Drowzy. Drowzy got sick only a year later, and died. Lux lost her best friend and pet all at the same time.

At the age of eight, Lux had grown a love for nature. She always took hiking trips to the forest with her father, Harry. One day, she stumbled upon a small baby bird, a snow owl who had fallen out of its nest. She and her father brought the small bird home, and nursed it back to health. The owl survived and eventually learned to fly.

When puberty hit at the age of thirteen and her powers started showing, she first tried to hide it but her powers grew more and more out of control as time went by. Her parents claimed it was a possession of the devil, and called every priest they knew to get rid of it. But after a while her parents couldn't take it anymore, packed their stuff and left.

Lux was then found by a recruiter and brought to Hammel. At first, she was wary, still devastated by her parents betrayal, all though, with time she slowly realized that they were only afraid, and promised herself that once she had her powers under control and graduated, she would track them down and tell them the truth about what she is.

Role play Example

She pulled the dirty and smelly paper crate over her head as she watched the rain poor down from the dark sky. The only light was the silver moon that shone brightly on top of the sky. She closed her eyes and took in the soothing smell of the rain and leaned back. She took a deep breath and opened her eyes. Her ice blue eyes lit up in the bright light of the moon and a tear rolled down her cheek.

She hid in the shadows, gently moving through the rain without a sound. The marketplace was nearly empty. ''Perfect.'', she whispered to herself as she looked around for any patrolling guards. ''No one in sight.'', she thought as she moved closer to one of the outdoor shops. The seller was packing down his stuff for the night. Lux quickly ran across the street, snatched an apple and hurried down the street. She glanced back and sighed in relief as no one was following her. She walked in to a small alley and sat down, slowly eating the apple.

Not Quite

First, if you would please change your display name to your character's first and last name.

Now starting with the power, we encourage shape-shifters! That being said, you have it as just a shape-shifter and here at Hammel it's a very vague term. The shape-shifting ability has limits, such as a specific mammal, reptile, etc, or even a larger category such as big cats (lions, tigers), bony fish, small rodents, etc. Either way, she wouldn't be able to shift into whatever she wanted.

Next thing that needs some work is the appearance. We like to see at least a decent sized paragraph, but it's best to have two. Go into details, the things that set her apart from everyone else with brown hair and a slight build. Talk about the shape of her features or how she walks, dresses, things like that. If it helps, look at some of the accepted character profiles for ideas of what to add. Nobody looks the same, go from there and get creative with it.

Same with personality. The basic trust issues and two different facades is good, but explain more. Get into what makes her tick if someone tries making her mad or what makes her extremely happy and bubbly as you described her. Explain some of her quirks, pet-peeves, etc, it's your own character, do with her what you please. Be sure to make her realistic though, everyone has flaws and good qualities. All that's needed is some fleshing out.

Lastly, I'd like to address her secret/history. Here at Hammel we try to keep the trauma level in a character's life to a minimum, or at least to a manageable level to where you can play her realistically. In her secret it says that her parents found out about her power and tried to rid themselves of her and in your history it 1) does not mention that happening and 2) says that she lives alone as a pickpocket. If she manifested and went off to live on her own, she'd have been found by recruiters early enough that she wouldn't be alone for long which in turn means she wouldn't really have the time to learn how to become a proper pickpocket. I suggest changing one thing or the other, just so that it works together. Also, in the history, as stated above, we like to see more. Maybe explain what her childhood was like, what it was like when she manifested and how she's adjusted to Hammel now that she's sixteen.

Thank you for taking what I said into consideration, but there are still a few small things. One being the power, the three animals you used for an example conflict with each other. Small mammals and birds don't mesh well together for shape-shifting due to the anatomical makeup of each. If anything make it small birds or small rodents like a ferret or mink would work.

Next would be the recruitment. For a power like shape-shifting keeping it under the radar for a year and a half. The time limit for a power such as this would be at most two weeks she'd be able to hide it.
