Joe scrawled down things as Jasmine rattled them off over the phone. Lettuce, ketchup, sugar... It went on and on. "Alright.... uh-huh... No problem," Joe said and looked up at his office door as he listened to more things being listed. He nodded his head absently as she gave him precise directions about what to do and what to buy. Joe shifted in his seat and nodded, she was making something rather creative for dinner she was telling him, because Lesedi had had a good day and requested her favorite meal. It lifted Joe's spirits to have the hope that he might finally get a smile out of his little girl. He knew that it was wearing greatly on Rachel. She was looking into graduate school across the country. Maybe she wanted to go that far to get out of the house and away from her parents. But for now Rachel was living at home and working as her first pass at medical school had failed.
Joe smiled, "I'm gonna head out in a few minutes... yes, I'll make sure to get it... I love you too. Bye." Joe smiled as he replaced his office phone into the receiver and logged himself out of his computer. Taking a few folders and important papers and putting them into his briefcase. With that he bid farewell to the rest of the PUSE staff and got into his car. It was a very ordinary blue Camry, he might be well off but he wasn't that well off. He put his case in the backseat and drove quickly to the grocery store. He smiled as he found a relatively close space and stepped into the store, list in hand. If he was quick about it he could be in and out as fast as possible. He was dressed casually with a pair of slacks and a button up.
He grabbed a cart as he strolled by and set to his first task of picking out the vegetables. He found the zucchini he was looking for and started sifting through the green vegetables. This batch did not seem to be looking too good. As he searched through the vegetables he finally found one that he knew his wife would find satisfactory and glanced to the side at the person searching through the cucumbers next to him. His wife had a garden and their cucumbers were doing relatively well. He moved to the tomatoes and juggled a few in his hands. After placing it in the cart he grabbed a head of cabbage and moved on down the aisles. He rounded a corner and quickly had to avert his path to avoid someone crouching and examining the products on the bottom shelf and he ended up knocking over a display of granola bars. "Shoot," he muttered to himself and stooped to start picking them up.
