Everybody's Fool (Carter)

Getting drunk in the woods was one thing. Getting drunk with a boy she barely knew was a whole other thing. But it had been fun, and Lux had really got the unwinding she had wanted, even if it might not have been the best way to go about it all. She would probably wake up in the morning regretting everything. Unless she was lucky enough to black out and forget it all. Wouldn't that have been just perfect? Because what she was about to do, was sure as heck something she'd love to forget.

Once again fishing up her phone from her pocket, she let her finger run down the screen. She narrowed her eyes, trying to focus for long enough to actually read the names she scrolled over. Not that she had that many friends that it should have been hard, but she was clumsy enough in a sober condition. Either way, she found the name she may or may not have intended and hit the call button.

Ring...

Ring...

Ring...

Ring...

Oh god. What if he was busy having sex? Now that, that woulda been awkward. Well. It probably would have been anyways, but hey, she was too stupidly drunk to even think about that. She would have plenty of time thinking about her 'crimes' tomorrow.

Did someone pick up? ''Helloooo~?''

Contrary to popular belief, there were some nights where Carter took a break in order to get some sleep. The older twin had curled himself up in his sheets, forcing his eyes closed as he tried to shake the restlessness he'd usually fix with a late night visit from a clearly interested party. Abstaining was important too, right? Ha ha ha. He was just overly tired.

His eyes cracked open again when he heard his phone ringing. For a moment he thought it'd be better to just ignore it. It sure as hell wasn't Dom who was calling, so why did he care?

But he glanced at who had called him anyway, and Carter was surprised to see that name showing up on his phone. He conceded to answering the call anyway, his curiosity and interest in the girl getting the better of his usual judgement. And so he answered, and brought the phone to his ear.

What the hell? "Luxannaaaa?" He echoed curiously.

If Lux had had enough brain cells left to actually think about what she was doing and especially who she was calling, she would have hit herself with a stick for being so incredible stupid. Not because who she was calling was someone she should have stayed away from, but because of everything that had happened recently, and by doing this, she only dug herself further into the ditch of embarrassment. Hadn't she made enough of a fool of herself? Apparently not. Drunk Lux didn't think about the consequences.

"Luxannaaaa?''

Oh, wow. He actually answered, and it didn't sound like he was... Well, yeah. ''O'hai!'', she replied with a giggle. It was probably a good thing she was too wasted to feel awkward about this, and if she woke up to remember it, or look at her phone, she'd probably die of embarrassment. ''I met Albert Fish in the woods today! Well... Not Albert Fish, but I thought it was, and then it wasn't.... So yay!'' Yup, she was doomed.

Well, at least she was a hyper drunk and not a angry or whiny drunk. Not that she'd ever drink again after this, but in the heat of the moment she didn't think clearly. Heck, she could barely see clearly. ''What are youuuu doing?'', she asked, her voice slurry and somewhat groggy.

It didn't take a genius to figure out what was going on. Carter had been around his fair share of drunk women, and he liked to think he'd experiences the myriad of personalities they took on. The standards and the not-so-conventional.

"That sounds extravagant." He replied with a dull tone of voice. Sometimes he could humour the drunk - if the drunk individual was his brother.

Good lord, if she had been a whiny drunk he might have hung up on her already. "I wasn't sleeping." He replied lightly, an almost sing-song quality to his voice. Because really, all of this was hilarious. He'd laugh about it more later.

"Did the jealous one finally let you out of your tower?" Carter asked, "I can't imagine he gave the key up easily."

''Oooh-ohkay!'', she chirped. Good. She hadn't woken him up. Not that she would have cared anyways. She would have forgotten about it in the matter of seconds. ''Why not? Isn't it like... late?'' What was the time? She didn't have a clock, and the phone was pressed against her ear, so she didn't want to check it. Did it even matter? She was having fun, and the time was something she could care less about.

''The jealous one?'', she asked, trying to put two and two together. Who was he talking about? Oh, right! Oriel. Hehe. ''He doesn't know where I am.'', she said with a cheerful tone and snickered. Which was probably a good thing. He'd end up killing her and Jack. Poor Jack.

But Oriel was probably going to end up locking her up after this. So this would be the perfect time for her rope ladder plan! That way she could escape through her window. ''Do you know how to build a rope ladder?'', she asked suddenly. She sure as heck didn't. Wood and rope. And probably some glue. Yes, she could totally become the new McGyver.

"It is, but that doesn't matter." Carter replied. He slept when he did.

"Oh dear, you broke out of the tower." He said, the amused tone in his voice clearly evident, "He isn't going to be happy when he learns the dark side is calling to you." Or rather, she was calling the dark side.

A rope ladder? He barely had time to think about that; "I can't imagine it's too hard. Scaling walls isn't that difficult." He chuckled. Not when you had a power like his. "In my experience, tying enough sheets together works too."

''Okay~'', she said. Well, if he wasn't going to say anything more, she wasn't going to argue it. Not that she could actually argue about anything at the moment anyways.

It was slowly starting to down on her that Oriel was going to be so pissed. Not that she could take it all that seriously, but still. He'd rage. It would be hilarious to watch. ''Nope~ Better not tell him I called you then.'' She couldn't exactly hold anything in at this rate, and if she started drinking anything more, she'd probably get more and more talkative. Which was never a good thing. But boy, wasn't the dark side pretty?

Oh yes, she hadn't thought about that. Sheets. Genius! It was all a lie, that people called blondes dumb. Well, she knew that beforehand, but drunk her didn't. ''You're a genius!'', she said and rubbed her cheek. She totally had to try climbing down her window now.

"I wouldn't dream of it." Carter replied simply. He didn't care enough about the jealous one to warrant a conversation with him. He was too easy a target to rile up, and that was just boring.

"I know, I know." He had to wonder what she was thinking of when she asked about that. Drunk people did the craziest things, especially when it made the quieter ones more vibrant. "If you happen to fall, call out for me again. I'll make you some stairs out of dirt." Or something safer. Drunk people and stairs rarely mixed well. "You know, if you apologise for mistreating me."

''Good!'' It was probably a good thing that Carter didn't care, because that made it less of a chance for Oriel to meeting him head on head again. Oriel wasn't all that good at keeping his composure. And he was a lot more of a brute.

''Me fall? Pffft.'' Ha, that was funny. She never fell, she was the most steady person in the world! Well, or so she wished anyways. Climbing down a ladder when you were clumsy enough when you were sober was one thing, but doing it while she was drunk? That could only end horribly. Lux and surfaces never mixed well. Lux should probably have apologized about the whole incident outside the auditorium a long time ago, but she was prideful and embarrassed. Two things that never got along well. But now that she was drunk, she had no care in the world. ''Okay, I'm sorry for mistreating you.'', she chirped. Well, that wasn't so hard. Unless he made her do it in a sober condition too, of course. ''Aaaand I apologize for Oriel too.''

Carter listened to everything she was saying, living through the short silence before she'd decided to apologise. "Never apologise for those who don't want you to." He pointed out, doubting the jealous one was the apologising type. Making excuses for him was the very problem he wished she'd get over.

But back to the issue, and his mouth curled into a grin; "And how did you mistreat me?"

She sighed. He was right, and she knew it. Oriel probably didn't want her to apologize for him, because he thought he did what was right. Well, maybe not, but at least his pride did. And really, even if he had been wrong in doing so, he had tried to protect her. Not that she needed it, but it was still sweet in it's own, twisted way. ''I guess.''

It was probably a good thing she was drunk when she was doing this, because if she hadn't been, there was no way she would have kept feeding on to his ego. Well, at least that was her excuse for not doing anything about it before. One of many. ''I... Accused you of doing things you didn't?'', she asked, a little unsure. The whole incident was starting to get hazy, but that could be the alcohol clouding her mind, just as it clouded her judgement.

To say that Jack was enjoying himself was a complete understatement, he was loving this was the life, Booze and drunk-dialling now this was the life, sure Jack could barely comprehended what was going on thanks to several hours of hard drinking…but still go times for all.

While Lux was on the phone, Jack stumbled to his feet and got two more drinks and stumbled back to lux just hearing the tail end of their conversation. Giggling to himself Jack got as close to the phone as possible and shouted into the receiver.

“She’s been sneaking into you’re bunk at night and taking picture of you while you slept! I’ve seen ‘em!”

Almost overcome with laughter Jack turned to Lux.

“Oh hey, Have you asked him how big’s his dick is yet?”

With that Jack fell down roaring with laughter in a drunken stupor before handing her,a beer

It took a certain kind of person to allow such control to overtake their life. And that had been a topic on Carter's mind every so often. Something he couldn't let go of as quickly as he'd have liked to. Being misread was just... Well, he was used to it. But with Luxanna, it was somewhat strange to be painted by her newfound friend as the bad guy. And worse that she believed it.

"Well..." He dragged the word out, but drew the phone from his ear when he heard shifting about. A man's voice entered the scene, and Carter would offer the device a perplexed expression. What he'd said meant less than Luxanna's apology.

Eh, at least she wasn't alone. "Have fun, kids." He said with an amused tone to his voice, "Don't get pregnant; it'll ruin both your figures." And with that, he hung up.

He couldn't wait to tell Dom what had happened.
