The BasicsName: Molly Ford Kingsley
Nicknames: Molls
Age: 28 (August 18th, 1985)
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Research assistant (mostly she just does clerical work and calculations for the lab), she also offers her services as a math tutor in the Pilot Ridge area (she's not especially good at this if the student in question doesn't want to learn, so the reviews are mixed) and does freelance computer graphics work (how she makes most of her expendable income)
Powers: Technopathy, with a special affinity for virtual reality
Her power is highly based in visualization, which lends itself to certain side effects (before her power manifested, she had perfect eyesight, once it manifested she ended up needing eyeglasses/contacts; she is prone to migraines from bright light; and the actions done in virtual reality, while not taxing in-data, frequently hit her after exiting virtual reality, yet do not work toward actual exercise - in other words, she is exhausted but gains no muscle mass). Any talents she has in-data frequently do not translate "irl" (in real life). She is great with digital photomanipulation using her virtual reality visualization, but if she ever tried to do it without her power... she just doesn't have the skills. Ditto for coding, hacking, and any sort of in-game skill for video games.

General Appearance: The first thing most people notice about Molly is her skin. She is very pale. Almost drastically (apart from the freckles), since she tends to get headaches in high light, so doesn't spend much time outside. She's exactly average in height, at 5'5," but she's quite thin (lacking both fat and muscle), which makes her limbs appear somewhat awkwardly long. She tends to slouch, too, which only adds to her awkward appearance. Her hair is on the long side, a rusty red color, and naturally straight, though she does enjoy making it all pretty and wavy when she has the whim. Her eyes are green, but appear more like a greenish grey hazel color.
In terms of style, Molls is very casual. If she isn't going out, she feels no need to change out of her pjs or sweats. When going somewhere more crowded, she tries to look at least decent, and will do very minimal makeup. She never dresses formally, or even semi-formally. The most dressed up she's ever been was for her brother's wedding, and that was because her sister in law picked something out and got someone to do her hair and makeup. She does like pretty things, though, and wil wearl casual dresses or skirts if she feels especially girly or pretty.
Personality: Molls is a dork, nerd, geek, dweeb - all of it. She is very aware of this fact. Sometimes she feels awkward about it (basically any time she's in public and not surrounded by others like her), but sometimes she actually feels pretty confident and cool (on her webcam, online, in game, or when surrounded by other geeks). Though, of course, cool is a relative term. She's quite socially awkward. She's fairly immature for her age, and has no idea what she wants to be when she grows up... even though she's basically grown up already. It's more like she's a perpetual young adult.
Molly does not do well with expressing her feelings. She's not very good with speaking on-the-spot to others, which is why she video blogs, where she can edit the footage so she doesn't look like such a dweeb. Most people consider her a pushover. She doesn't have much authority, and it's very difficult for her to be assertive. If she has someone she doesn't like, they probably don't know it, because she isn't going to tell them. She'll just vent to her webcam, and possibly stick their face on characters in her video games.
She laughs a lot - either because things are awkward and she can't help it (she's definitely a nervous laugher) or because she finds things funny for any given reason (her sense of humor is quite varied). She's addicted to Youtube (in fact she keeps a large collection of cat videos stored offline), but always uses a screen name online instead of her real name. She frequently "squee"s over cute things, which can also make her seem immature. She can be very girly at heart, she just isn't very good at putting the effort in to appear that way. Also, since her power manifested she got really interested in video games, so she can sometimes lean towards the gamer stereotype of loving violence (or at least weapons). But if anyone ever brings that up in an accusatory way, she just laughs really awkwardly and pretends she has no idea what they mean.
Regarding her power, Molly thinks she's a bit of a badass in-game. Since her power allows her to experience games in a very different way, she can get really invested in them, and they can become more important to her than real life. She loves games because when her character gains skills she gets to gain those skills for a while (though nothing ever translates out of game, which is why she tries to spend so much time in-game). Playing some of the games she does (where she, as the protagonist, is frequently in danger and/or fighting a lot) isn't very good for her, as she frequently ends up exhausted, sometimes mildly traumatized (if her character dies, she's booted from virtual reality, which is jarring and disconcerting, not to mention the lingering soreness from the areas she was wounded in-game), and with a serious fear of "irl" violence. The pain she experiences specifically from in-game injury is psychosomatic, and she has learned to cope with it thanks to an imaginary coded 'healing potion' that she uses while in virtual reality to lessen the effects. She doesn't realize that the 'injury' pain is psychosomatic. The real pain she experiences is more accurately compared to the soreness one experiences the day after a seriously taxing workout.
Sometimes when she's bored, and she doesn't want to endure a gaming session, she'll enter virtual reality and explore Wikipedia, which has supplied her with a wealth of primarily useless knowledge. She has a pretty good memory for things she doesn't really need to know, so she sometimes takes on the role of walking trivia book. She's mostly learned not to spout trivia whenever it comes to mind, but she'll still slip up sometimes and end up blurting something out at an awkward moment. Her actual memory isn't as good - she can be a little scatterbrained and frazzled regarding things she needs to do (either for herself, like errands, or for others, like specific assigned tasks) - so she usually carries around a makeshift notepad (index cards and pieces of construction paper all held together with a binder clip) and one or two pens.Your VicesLikes:

Any Other Important People: Felix Pemberton, BFF; Ashlyn Kingsley, sister-in-lawHistoryMolly was born in August of 1985 in San Diego, California. She was always a rather shy person, quite awkward, who hit her growth spurt before other girls, and didn't really know what to do with her too-long limbs. Her skin wasn't made for San Diego sun, so she was the girl who wore a coverup, a hat, an umbrella, and visible sunscreen to the beach or pool. Or, more accurately; she just avoided the outdoors altogether, which only kept her freakishly pale. She tried to avoid being teased by just being as quiet as possible and staying out of trouble, avoiding conflict, and not trying to fight anyone. If someone asked her a question, she answered, if they asked her a favor, she did it. She ended up 'helping' a lot of people on homework and tests, because she was a pretty smart kid who didn't say no.
Luckily, shortly after her 14th birthday, her meta power manifested. It wasn't anything special, really - she fell asleep while playing a game on her Gameboy, and unwittingly put herself into the game. It wasn't what she'd expected, that was for sure. She'd thought it was just a dream, but when she was legitimately attacked by a Pokemon, she started to have doubts. In her surprise, she left the virtual reality and found herself back in bed, but feeling like she'd been seriously tackled. Given that one of her parents was a meta (her mother, who was a power mimic), she had already been aware that she might be one too. They informed Hammel and got her enrolled right away.
Molly was happy to leave San Diego, mostly to leave her school, but was incredibly nervous about starting at Hammel. The nerves probably contributed to her behavior when, upon walking into her first class, she immediately sat down next to somebody and engaged them in conversation. Which was incredibly weird for her. But it was a desperation to have an ally in this new place, someone who also chose to sit in the front row of their classes; a fellow outcast. And she was lucky enough that that new ally was Felix.
Okay, maybe not so lucky, since two losers together just made a bigger target for bullies, but at least they weren't alone.
Two years later her brother, Jeffrey, also manifested, and joined her at Hammel. But Jeffy was a lot more popular in school than she was. He was a sort of legitimate popular that both helped and hindered her in school - some people treated her better for it, and some picked on her even more, since it was pretty well known that she never told her brother when she was bullied. All in all, they didn't really see each other much, except for those rare nights calling their parents and playing video games together - his social circle was incredibly different from hers, and he took every opportunity he could to go home while she mostly avoided it. It wasn't that she hated her parents, she didn't, she just wasn't a fan of the weather. The only time she would visit home was for Comic Con. And even then, she took Felix with her.
After graduating Hammel, she stayed away from California, instead attending the same University as Felix, where she majored in Math and he in History, and they shared an apartment together (which was... interesting, to say the least). Their electric bill was high. They had more costumes than pairs of jeans. They kept up a change jar devoted entirely to conventions. But it worked for them. Except for the whole awkward situation around bringing dates home (on the rare occasion either of them got one).
Following graduation, Molly began applying for jobs, and then realized that that just wasn't going to work. Her interviews were awful, and her office social life even worse. Presentations were out of the question. So she stopped trying to use her degree, and instead began working as a freelance graphic designer. It was good money when she got jobs, but they weren't coming as often as she'd like. So, to fill her endless amounts of free time with something other than just more gaming, she applied to work in the research lab at Hammel. She's been there for just over two years, and really likes it, even if there are people younger than her in higher positions. She's not exactly motivated to have more authority.
In December 2011, Molly's brother announced his engagement to a girl he'd met while at school in Boston - Ashlyn Harris. Molls was... surprised, to say the least. He was only 24 at the time of their engagement, Ashlyn was 23, but they'd been dating for four years and seemed happy. Enduring the wedding the following July was mortifying. Mostly because she had to go back to San Diego in the summer. Also because the wedding was outside, in the summer sun, and she was stuck in a dress and heels and makeup and enough hairspray to hold a house together. And also because Ashlyn's family seemed pretty curious as to why Jeff's older sister was still single and still spending her time with video games, and why she'd worn jeans to the rehearsal dinner. It was a nightmare, except for the fact that she was happy to see Jeff and Ash happy.Roleplay ExampleSee all of my other chars. =]What About You?Name: Turner
