The BasicsName: Pearse Donal Bryne (Pronounced 'Pierce')
Nicknames: Py
Age: 18 years
Orientation: Aromantic Homosexual (Meaning attracted to males, but holds no romantic feelings towards any other person)
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Illusions
Pearse is capable mostly of auditory and visual illusions. He specializes in having as much detail as possible to these illusions, but is not able to make it large scale. Small visual illusions are what he is limited to, however the smaller it is, the more complicated he can make it. Such as a puzzle box, if it were the size of the room he could only make the box, but if it were the size of a pinky nail he could fill it with all sorts of tiny mechanical on's and off's. The same goes for his auditory illusions. Often he can create whispers that sound real or can mimic reasonably someone he has heard often enough. However, a normal speaking tone is harder for him and a yell is far too difficult and often will cut out or distort if it doesn't dissipate altogether. He's capable of keeping up his illusions as long as they are within a reasonable line of sight. The time he can keep them up depends on the complicity of it and small, simple objects or soft whispers can last for an hour or so. However more complicated or larger/louder illusions can only last minutes or even seconds.
Side effects: Migraines daily, often at times he's left bedridden and can't stand without the world spinning out from under his feet. (Though he has learned to live with these.) Depending on how complicated the illusion is, he'll be left fatigued. There is also the fact that the more in depth he gets with his illusions, the more he begins to lose touch with reality. It's easy for him to hallucinate his illusions when they aren't there and to space out for hours.

General Appearance:
The boy is tall, about six foot even in height and isn't exactly the first image to come to mind when 'intimidating' is the thought at hand. Despite his medium sized build and overall toned physique, he does not carry himself like a thug would. Rather his posture is almost immaculate and more often than not he can be caught smiling. He does have dimples and can look rather charming at times due to having such an earnest smile. It's rare to catch him looking not put together as he's very hygienic and always dressed crisply and cleanly. This also covers his shaving habits, which he always tries to maintain a well shaven face with little to no stubble. His skin is usually clear and he's rather embarrassed to admit that he uses facial products to keep it that way. Cleanliness is a big factor with him.
As for his hair, the boy usually has it quickly combed out. His hair is only a few inches long, but it's definitely not considered 'cropped short'. It's always kept trimmed and becomes messed up rather easily though always straightens out with the brush of a hand. Most short hair is easy upkeep, so he never has much trouble and finds it low maintenance.
Besides being clean, the clothes he wears have to be comfortable and not too flashy. Due half to personal taste and partially to not wanting to stand out, his styles lie in tasteful button downs or plain t-shirts. It's not uncommon to see him wearing a tie or jacket if he's asked to dress up. He has two piercings on his hips on either side, these he got on whim because he thought he could use a change in his life. He has regretted them ever since and is deeply embarrassed by them, but too scared to take them out. Below the waist he usually has a belt of some sort on and jeans. As for shoes, running sneakers and boots are his thing.
Personality:
It's not easy to mistake Py to be your run of the mill quiet guy. When approached by another guy he's open, cheerful and friendly (though is still rather soft-spoken). However, should a girl approach him he's much more laid back and attempts to keep himself guarded. He doesn't believe in any type of stereotyping or discrimination, but is just honestly scared of women. He's not exactly sure why, but it's always played a major role in his life. The more intimidating the woman was, the more he'd go out of his way to avoid her. He'd go so far as to cut classes or completely change the way he'd walk from one street to another just to stay out from a scrutinizing gaze. It caused him a lot of pain, but he's now attempting to get over it a bit. He'll sometimes force himself to stay around a woman that he's scared of, or even a man. Since he finds it so difficult to speak his mind or even say 'no', he's been trying to work on standing up for himself. However it isn't going very well and the boy would rather spend his days sitting alone than having to talk to other people. He is also very skittish around people, man or woman. Physical contact makes him nervous and the amount of innocence he has is almost unbelievable.
The other main factor controlling the boy's life is the crushing loneliness he feels. It's not so much depression as it is knowing that he can't share his creations with anyone else with the same level of understanding as he has. Most of his illusions lie in internal workings, so a locket that opens on it's own would be a piece of beautiful mechanics to him, but simply a locket to others. This thought crushes him and so he often feels disheartened should one of his illusions be called 'stupid' or 'worthless' because he puts a lot of effort into them. For this reason he tries not to show many people any illusions and keeps them away from him anyway. He still longs for social interaction, so he'll often create voices to whisper to him as he tries to sleep.
On the brighter side, he is often optimistic about everything to do with life and tries hard at everything he does. He is fully dedicated to his training; hence why he gets migraines so often. It's not rare to catch him staying up late either studying or working on maintaining or detailing an illusion. It's still difficult for him to share his illusions, however, so he prefers to stay in empty rooms. This hurts his social life and does not assist in his loss of reality. Rather the boy drifts more into his own world by the day.
It would seem that the boy does have a good sense of morals and will often 'do the right thing'. He'll even put himself at risk if it'd save someone else the pain. It can seem like he has no sense of self preservation when it comes to helping others, but there are a few things he wouldn't do.. none of which he could list off the top of his head.Your VicesLikes:

(He lives off campus in a house.)HistoryLife had been kind to Pearse from a young age; he was born into a wealthy family without much difficulty. His family's wealth came from old money and his parents moved from Ireland to America when he was a few months old. His father had always liked the US, due to spending time in college in the states. His mother loved the idea of a change of setting so they ended up buying a reasonably sized home in Groton, Connecticut. His father settled into a new, well paying job and his mother spent most of her time at home making miniature houses. They were well off enough to afford a few luxuries so they often had a maid and a landscaper around the house.
As he began to grow up, Pearse was only allowed to interact with other well off children. He had a tutor who often came by his house when he was young, to teach him early on how to read and write. He was home-schooled for most of his young life and had multiple tutors for the different subjects. His mother never wanted him to stray too far away as she loved him dearly and his father was rarely ever home. However his mother began to get a little dependent on the young boy and would often ban him from seeing anyone besides his tutors. She seemed to grow angry at his father, though for reasons he couldn't understand at the time. She began to push him in his schoolwork, often getting angry with him if he didn't ace all of his work and tests. She wanted the perfect child, but Py was far from perfect. He couldn't understand mathematics even if his life depended on it; he'd fail every test given. His mother often yelled at him for this and he was punished by being sent to his room for the day. He quickly became a withdrawn child and got nervous around other people. This is where his submissive behavior began to kick in, as he was often too fearful to speak his mind.
As the boy grew older, he began to understand that there was more to the world than being studious and living in his town. He didn't travel often, but sometimes his tutors would tell him of their vacations or experiences. He began to talk to them more and opened up once again to those closest to him. However, it wasn't too long after this that the boy hit puberty at age twelve and began to notice he could do some strange things if he focused. He had heard about things like this and how some people had these amazing abilities, but his mother forbade him from ever talking about it. At first it scared him, being able to conjure up a blurry and misshapen image. He often had headaches that lasted for days, but he was determined to get better at this new power. He thought that perhaps if he could control it, he would be able to impress his mother and all his tutors. However after two weeks he made an attempt to show his mother an image of his pet snake. The attempt was a blurry mess of white scales and a migraine that nearly made the poor boy pass out. His mother took him immediately to the doctor's office, demanding they do something to fix her son. However in this venture, he was found and 'invited' to the Institute. His mother at first didn't want him to go, but once she realized that she had an abnormal son, she was more than willing to say goodbye and comply without a fight.
He started his first year then, enjoying the freedom from all the pressures of home. However he missed his tutors and was rather nervous around so many other students at first. Never before had he been near so many other children his age and it frightened him. His powers were rather hard to use at first and it took a lot of effort to make even the smallest of illusion. Often he had a headache that sent the world spinning from the smallest use of his power. The first few years at the Institute were spent studying and he didn't have many friends, only a few that were strictly in class friends. He grew a little more withdrawn again as whenever he messed up an illusion and had someone laugh at it, the embarrassment it caused him was painful. He tried not to make many illusions outside of his dorm or when anyone else was around. The last year or so had been a bit easier for the boy. He made resolutions to be more friendly and open. His illusion control had also improved greatly over the time he spent at the Institute.Roleplay Example(From a horse RPG)
Change had been such a predominant feature in life for the vixen that the very mention of it had the same effect on her if one were to mention the sky. It was constantly there and for that reason the girl held no solids in her life. All through her young days and the first events of her life had been just monumental change after change. Normalcy pained the girl at this point, living and doing the same thing day after day made her brain melt just a little more in her skull. Sometimes even working on the same herd had left the girl in a rut, bored out of her mind as she attempted to sway the mares over to her side. Every so often she'd have a stallion tossed her way; usually an insecure or lonely one. It was easy to deal with them, just a few soft words here and there usually had the girl a new friend. It didn't work all the time, but for the most part all she had to do was befriend the stallion and he'd willingly let her distract him as her brother continued his dirty work. Her job was definitely an easy one, ranging from just a lift of her tail to full blown weeks of conversation. Either way, her brother had trained her and so it came easily. Sure she would have liked to stay by her beloved ocean and sun-kissed sand instead of roam the far stretches of the land. With each step further it was almost as if she could hear the roaring of the waves, calling her back. Of course she could hardly stand to stay away for any amount of time, but she couldn't spend her entire life by the ocean. Even if she loved it so dearly, she found herself longing to change her routine up a bit and find some new places to travel. Well, the monotony mixed with the crazed horses she always seemed to find. There had yet to be a day where she could stay at the shore without some sort of interruption or some asshole prancing around like he owned the place. There had been a few mares as well, but she figured she might as well seek solitude elsewhere.
The complete desolation of the new area she had found held high promise to her. It seemed as if she were alone, at least as she wandered aimlessly around the rocks and cast an occasional glance to the sky. The weather seemed to be holding up for now, even though she could hear the faint plip of water somewhere nearby. One aud perked towards the noise, making the mare question just what she was missing behind the next corner. She rounded it, slowly and more cautiously than she'd normally be. Her attention immediately was caught by what appeared to be an almost identical twin. She hesitated, watching the stag only long enough to notice the white gleams on his legs and face. He didn't seem too bad, rather he held the posture of a horse that had some meaning to his life. This seemed good enough for her and the girl approached him easily. She held herself much like the queen she was used to pretending to be and made her way with unusual grace towards the lonesome boy. "Taking a bath, are we?" she asked with a controlled tone. Her voice was far from soft, but nor was she being harsh with the stag. Whereas his handsome pose seemed to mark him as stable, the girl could see he didn't seem all too pleased. "It seems that no matter how far I go, there's no such thing as isolation. So listen here, brute, I say we put solitude behind us and accept that it's just you and me here without much argument," the girl voiced, just about as far done as she could be with the arguments she had gotten into lately. What About You?Name: Grey
