V-Day with the GIRLFRIEND (Lucy)

Ahhhh the twins were so excited! They'd never had a girlfriend (or boyfriend) to spend Valentine's Day with before, as much as they'd wished and hoped they would someday. They always imagined showering the girl (or boy, if it happened to be) with gifts and affection; they were so full of romanticism (or so they thought), they could just burst!

"She's gonna kiss me again first," Skye told his brother as they snuck over to Lucy's room, both dressed quite sharply for what was really not that big of an occasion, even if it was in their minds. They were just going over to give the girl a new little robot friend to have and enjoy - this one shot different colors of smoke into the air, and could also serve as a speaker for a music player. It was a project they'd been working on for a while; they hoped she liked it.

"Nu-uh! She thinks I'm better-looking and you know it. She likes dark hair, obviously." Forrest clucked and darted forward, racing to get to Lucy's door before his brother. Skye shot after him, and they ended up pounding on the room door at the same time.

"Happy Valentine's Day!" they shouted as soon as the door opened. Along with the wrapped robot gift, they'd also brought a box of chocolates and some flowers. Because... That was what they were supposed to do, right?

Valentine's Day, to Lucy, was just a day. Granted, it was a day that made a lot of people go crazy for a lot of different reasons, but at the end of it all it was still a day. Not to say she didn't understand the proverbial meaning behind it - of course she did. She understood that it was kind of a thing couples made a point of doing something for. Even if they were just hanging out like it was normal, it wasn't, because it just happened to be February 14th.

She wasn't in a couple. So she was making a point of not seeing the psychometrist at all today because of that fact. A full twenty-four hours. No contact.

Hearing an unfamiliar, erratic knocking sound on the other side of the door had pulled her focus. She thought about pretending not to be home, because whoever - or whatever - was on the other side of that sounded like someone - or something - she didn't want to have to deal with. But curiosity pulled her harder than irritation, and she made her way to the door anyway.

Instantly, her dark eyes went wide, her eyebrows raising. Her expression read of pure surprise as she tried to take in both faces staring back at her. The words, too. The declaration.

"Holy fuck." The phrase dropped out of her mouth as she swapped a glance between them. "You guys doing the rounds or something?" She asked. It wouldn't be so strange to think they were door knocking to try and spread the love. They definitely seemed like the type to get excited about any and all holidays.

But they had stuff. Not enough for more than one person.

The twins had gone around giving random girls and boys valentines before on this day, since they'd had no one special to spend it with and had so much love to spread between the two of them! But this year was special, this year they had an actual girlfriend, someone they could spend the day with and have just to themselves! Right?

Her first words had them both giggling like idiots, and Forrest thrust the bouquet of flowers in her direction. They were a colorful array of yellows and oranges and purples, not the normal boring red roses. They figured she might like that better; they hoped they were right.

"Nah, of course not!" Skye told her, shaking his head for emphasis. "We have a girlfriend now, why would we give valentines to aaanyone else?" They both gave bright grins at this, and leaned forward expectantly, hoping to come inside.

"We brought you this too," Forrest offered, holding forward the small box that just about fit the palm of his hand. If Lucy remembered, they had given her a very similar-sized present a while back, with a very similar gift. They sincerely hoped she liked this one, too.

"And, uh, chocolates, of course!" Skye finished, waving the box of sweets; he didn't want to be outdone by his dumb brother. "All for our beautiful Aussie girl," he beamed.

Alright, so the occasional swear never seemed to sway the boys. Lucy had already learned that they were impossible to deter. It was better to just roll with their attitudes - they weren't always as irritatingly annoying as she made them out to be.

Before she could look at them for long, there were flowers being pushed towards her. Her eyes stayed a little wide at the sight of them. This was... Strange. Unexpected. Shit, she couldn't remember this ever happening to her before. She wasn't sure how to react. Working on the emotional fly, Lucy glanced towards them with a new found look of appreciation. She had to admit, their unorthodox choice in colours was impressive. More on the mark than a bland red set would have been.

Holy shit. They were serious. Lucy looked at Skye when he reminded her that they were her boyfriends. Not that she really forgot. This was kind of overwhelming. "Yeah, true." She replied in time.

Taking the flowers from Skye - which she was still trying to get her head around - Lucy looked to Forrest as he held out a little box. She recognised the side instantly, and when she caught his eyes, she realised her appreciative glance was growing - it was the first time her facial features had ever softened for either of the boys. Delicately, she took the gift from his hand and made sure to hold it with certainty. She suddenly didn't have the heart to tell them what happened to the last one they gave her.

Skye came back into the fray with yet another thing for her. Lucy looked down at what she already had and blinked a few times. "I've nev-" She shook her head as she glanced back towards them. Now really wasn't the time to get into the fact that this had never happened to her before. In any capacity.

"I don't have that many hands." Lucy said finally, glancing behind her into the common room for a moment before looking back; "You can come in. If you want." She added. If they agreed, she'd readily step aside and let them in.

The boys' grins never left their faces as they watched Lucy's reactions, seeing the surprise and lasting bewilderment that seemed to be going through her mind. Well... Should she really be that surprised? Surely she'd done this before, and... And this was expected of them, right? Her reactions were telling them otherwise.

They waited for something, anything that told them they were doing this right. When she confirmed their status, the both beamed even brighter and fought against literally bouncing where they stood.

As she took the gifts, the two boys continued to have a hard time squelching their extreme happiness. The looks she was giving them were so genuine, their hearts were just melting in their chests. Ahh... It was so nice to have a girlfriend!

They both snapped to attention as she began to say something, but she seemed to decide otherwise and so they quickly shrugged it off. "Oh, right... Skye laughed with a hint of embarrassment, clutching onto the box of chocolates. They were just so excited they were getting ahead of themselves. At the invitation in, they eagerly bolted inside and halted in the middle of the room, waving for Lucy to come and sit down.

"Come on, go ahead and open it!" Forrest encouraged, motioning to the box. "We worked really hard on it, so... Hopefully you like it!" Skye nodded along with his brother, flopping down on the couch. Forrest sat at the other end, leaving enough room for Lucy to sit between them, if she wanted. Which they really really hoped she would.

"We liked the colors of the flowers too... We personally think regular roses are kind of boring," Skye told her, setting the box of chocolates on the table in front of them. "Er... No offense if you like them..." he added a bit belatedly. Forrest shot him a 'you moron' sort of look.

"They're just... Colorful, and reminded us of you," he finished with a smile bright enough to light up the room. "Fun, bright, pretty.." He could ramble on, but figured he'd said enough. They both gave her eager looks, waiting to see her reaction to... Everything!

Lucy had to quickly wonder if it was a mistake inviting this much crazy into the common area of her dorm. She quickly shrugged off the fact. As annoying as they were, they were also weirdly genuine guys.

She followed them as they eagerly sat, leaving space for her in the middle. Part of her wanted to defy that just to see what would happen, but how could she? The ink manipulator settled between them, glancing at Forrest, then at Skye. Jesus, they were really into this. It was strange how into it she was, too.

Setting the myriad of coloured flowers down on the table before her, she held the familiar-sized present in her hands, listening to the encouragement offered. Slowly, she made the move to do so.

"Ah, you know me too well, fellas." Lucy replied quickly when they spoke of the flowers. Really, it was a perfect choice. She tried her best not to get so caught up in the compliments they were throwing at her, but the last word had her snagged. It was strange to be called bright, yes. But even stranger to be called pretty. By two people she honestly wasn't always that nice to in the first place. She looked at Forrest, studying his face momentarily. The words had come out of his mouth, shared mentality or no. "Thanks." She practically dropped the word. Genuinely. Involuntarily.

Quickly, she dropped her dark eyes to the present in her hands, finally unwrapping it and taking in the sight of what she was. She knew already. Or, she was certain she did. But seeing another one of these was still such a definite surprise.

"Holy fuck." She procured the thing in her hand, setting the box aside and running her fingertips across the surface. "What's this one do? Same thing?" She asked, not that it made it any less special. The look on her face in tandem with the tone to her voice made it clear - she thought that this, and they, were brilliant.

Of course they were genuine! The twins had nothing but good intentions, even if they didn't come across that way. Well... Most of the time, at least. Pranking didn't count. But this definitely wasn't a prank! They both beamed as Lucy sat between them, resisting the urge to just glomp onto her right then and there. It was hard, but they managed to just be content with their legs touching.

"Well, sure we do, Luce, you're our girlfriend, after all!" Skye spoke for both of them, smile never leaving his face. Forrest's cheeks turned slightly pink as she looked his way, and his gaze dropped timidly, not used to being so close in such an... Intimate way.

"Don't mention it," he said softly, upon which Skye stuck his tongue out at his darker-haired brother, hopefully before Lucy could look back and see it. Because that wasn't a gentlemanly thing to do. Oops.

Both their attentions were drawn to the object in Lucy's hands, though, as she began to open it; they were so excited, she might have felt them shaking in their seats. The two had never been good at keeping still. Once the tiny little robot was revealed, along with Lucy's initial comment, they giggled simultaneously.

"It's a little different," Skye explained, reaching over to fidget with a few gears on the side. After a moment, a bright spray of red smoke shot into the air, several inches high. "It can do different colors and-"

"-you can plug a music player into it and use it as a speaker," Forrest finished, motioning to the flat, pored area on the 'back' of the robot. They were both practically melting, hearing the admiration in Lucy's voice; it was totally worth all the time and effort they had put into the little thing.

"So... Happy Valentine's Day!" they both said again, unable to stop themselves from giving Lucy a double hug on each side.

They sure were keen on the word girlfriend. Lucy couldn't help the hint of a grin that tugged at the corner of her lips every time she heard it. Not because it was factual, but because it was a little funny. She tried her best to stifle it, though. No point in ruining their belief system.

She did feel them shaking in the seat. Lucy resisted the urge to stare at one and then the other while that was evident. It was gratifying. And weirdly comforting, considering Lucy herself wasn't the type to really sit still either. Having something in her hands made that a little easier to maintain, so she was thankful for that. Lucy listened as they explained that this one could do. If she still had the other one in tact, she would have sat them together. "Seriously, this is the raddest fucking thing ever." She said. It was her way of expressing how awesome the present was.

The double hug was definitely not expected; she momentarily tensed at the fact before trying to stop herself from doing so. Hugs were still weird, but it wasn't like she wasn't grateful. "Y'know I didn't get you anything, right?" Lucy breathed through the contact. She sounded like she felt a little bad about that. She sorta did.

"How uhh-" Lucy started, pressing her lips into a line momentarily, "How good are you at fixing these guys if they break?"

The boys were starting to wish they had something to do with their hands - they were so used to constantly doing something, either recording, or pulling pranks, or making tiny little creations, having to sit still and do absolutely nothing other than watch was just difficult. Forrest was a little better off, since he was used to studying more often, but Skye felt like leaping up and dragging Lucy off on some sort of adventure.

Hearing her praise calmed them both, though, and their grins stayed in place. "It was nothing, really," the darker-haired twin replied modestly, scuffing his feet against the floor with a blush. "We had fun with it."

"Yeah, we love building this stuff, so if you ever want anything else, just let us know," Skye added, bobbing his head. "We're pretty good at tinkering with stuff." They liked to think they could make anything, if they put their minds to it.

They didn't really notice her tense up, but the hug was over soon enough, to the twins' disappointment. "Oh, it's alright, we didn't really expect anything," Forrest replied, waving a hand. Valentine's Day was mostly for guys showering their girl with presents and affection, right? Nahh, they didn't mind. "We just like spending time with you, that's good enough for us." And seeing Lucy's reaction to their gifts... Perfect.

They both blinked at the question, and then looked at each other over Lucy, before looking back at her. "I'm pretty sure we could fix... Almost anything," Skye mused. "We built them, after all, so we know how they should be built." They both glanced at the little robot in Lucy's hand, until Skye managed to ask,"Why? Did the other one get a glitch or something? We can give it a look!" Something about the look on Lucy's face told them that might not be the case, though.
