Training and Pouring [Everett]

Marley saying it all aloud made Everett's actions sound cowardly and horrible. He hadn't realized just how much he was staring to effect her. Maybe she'd finally been responding ot his training and now he was ruining it.

"Yeah...that's the gist of it," he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck in all of the awkwardness. "And I guess it makes me a bad trainer. I guess it means I suck at my job." What else was he supposed to say? She was right. "And I can control myself in bad weather, I told you that. My trainer was that good that he taught me how. But I guess you're right. I'm a coward and that's the problem."

He was clenching his fists at his sides. He'd wanted to help people, even Marley, who made it seem like she couldn't be helped. He spun in a circle lamely, putting his hands over his head before running a hand through his hair. "Let's do this then," he told her, just as it began to rain.

Marley rolled her eyes as Everett rambled, upon his admittance of all the things she had suspected of her young trainer. It wasn't that she wanted him to admit he was bad at his job, she just wanted him to understand her position - to understand why she didn't trust him, or anyone else for that matter. She was sure that his methods worked for plenty of other students. Marely was not plenty of other students.

She expect Everett to just get frustrated and run off, especially wen he threw his hands above his head and turned away. But Marley didn't realize Everett had simply walked in a circle. When his voice reacher Marley's ears again uttering a 'let's do this', Marley's head shot up to look toward her trainer, just as the rain started to fall. Even as her hair became more wet, it stood more on end, pieces flying up toward the sky as if pulled by a magnet. "Let's do what, exactly?" Marley asked, using her hands to trying and push some of the stands of hair in her field of vision away from her face, with little to no success.

The rain was coming down now, soaking Everett's hair. He put gel in it so it stood up just to make it look as if he actually tried to do that, when a lot of the time it was his power that made it happen. Even now, with the rain wetting his blonde hair, it still stuck straight up, and somehow looked even more ridiculous. He wiped some water off of his face. "I mean, let's train," he said, voice dripping with fake confidence. "If you want to train, we'll train." No matter how much he wanted to run inside like his younger self and hide in his office. He wouldn't. Marley needed a trainer who worked hard enough to make sure she was read to take on the world with her power, and someone who cared enough. He cared enough, he just needed the other part.

Marley was fairly surprised that Everett changed his mind, and basically admitted that she was right and he was wrong. It wasn't often that anyone, especially adults, were willing to do that. Her little internal sense of victory was shattered with the sound of thunder, though, causing her to jump in fright. She slowly stood up, brushing the dirt off her pants before it turned to mud and stained. "Am I going to die?" she asked, giving Everett a look that said 'I really don't know' and 'I really need to know' at the same time.

"I mean... if there is like... a really high change of me dying we can just go back and say you were right and take it inside," Marley offered, suddenly feeling a bit overwhelmed by the energy in the atmosphere. She wasn't sure what was going to happen, what even could happen. And the unknown was probably scarier than anything else to Marley.

Everett had admitted he was wrong, and just after that, Marley appeared rather vulnerable, getting up off of the ground with the crack of thunder and asking Everett a question he'd always asked his trainer everytime they trained outside when the weather was like this or every time he was caught outside in the a storm. Am I going to die? It was a legitimate question, even if it was fueled by fear. Both of their powers had the potential to overload them in the scariest way. It was built up energy that they were supposed to be able to control, a task not meant for people. Everett had never liked science, but even he knew that this just wasn't how things were supposed to be.

"I didn't," he told her. Now she was suggesting they could go back inside. He knew that she must be feeling the energy now. "Can you feel it?" he asked her. As the storm brewed and things got more intense, the more energy you absorbed. "I'm not saying you're going to die, but you need to know how to redirect your energy, to release it in a way that's not going to blow you into pieces." And maybe since they hadn't worked on that a lot, but rather spent a lot of their time arguing, Marley trying to prove a point and Everett trying to get her to isten, they should take it inside.

"I can always feel it," Marley said honestly looking at Everett seriously. Sure, it was a little bit stronger than usual, but unless Marley literally ate nothing all day, and did everything in her power to tire herself, she always felt like she was on the brink of exploding. Did Everett even realize that? That because Marley was an Ergokinetic it wasn't just thunderstorms that caused her to feel this way? It was particularly hot days... rooms full of people... strong winds...

She looked up at the sky, not even flinching when lighting flashed. "So what am I supposed to do?" she asked, her arm hair starting to stand as well. She could almost feel the static energy collecting at her fingertips, ready for her to shock an expecting victim. She wouldn't though. She wasn't about to piss off Everett even more. She had won this round. She wasn't about to ruin that. She didn't keep her eyes off the sky as she spoke though - as if the first lightning strike that landed a bit close would cause her to flee.
