Gryphon... didn't know what to trust anymore. His knowledge of the cruel world, or his instincts. As much as he wanted to protect Kodi, or see if he could somehow... find some loophole, he was scared for his life. And for Junpei's.
There had been that moment, though. Just before the two older vampires appeared - that second of recognition that gave him the most hope he'd felt in... forever. The blonde vampire had grabbed him and run and Gryph could've faught against him and gone to help his hunting partner... but he didn't. He remembered looking back at the boy at the last moment, seeing the two parental vampires approach him... fucking hell...
Gryph wasn't playing tricks. When he had first met Kodi (when he was still human), he had played games. And then... it started to get more serious. The games stopped. To the point that meant Gryphon felt physically nauseous when he tried to lie to Kodi, which he'd done in the past. That twisting agony in his gut was too much to bear... even if the boy wasn't all there, Gryph wouldn't be able to live one minute thinking he'd messed with his head.
They'd been running for a short while - the hunter wondered where they were even going, what the other boy had in mind... even though he was the one affecting Kodi, there was still this hesitant feeling in the back of his mind that this... darker version of the boy he loved might be trying to make it easier to attack him, by separating him from his partner... but he held a constant trust for Kodi, manipulated or not.
They stopped in some secluded, shadowed pathway, lined with crumbling brick walls. Gryphon panted a little and looked over at Kodiak... and he waited.
