Headphones blasted The Who into his ears as Lani sat on the bus and stared out the window a rather thoughtful expression on his face. He watched the clouds rolling by and the tops of the trees sway and blur as the bus slowed and sped stop after stop. Lani's body may have been present but his mind was far away. There was so much going on and everything was happening so fast Lani was almost grateful for a task to distract him. He could at least ignore people on the bus with headphones in. No one was going to talk to him and he was fine with that. For once he didn't have to put a front up and pretend that everything was alright. A mask upon his face, Lani could break down in his head and ignore the world with the distraction of music brushing his mind. Lani'd been recovering and then Odion came back and Lani's world had reset. He wasn't going to say he'd rather Odion stayed away, it was too late for that. Hell, it was too late for that several months ago. Lani spied the stop he wanted and pulled the wire. He got up and showed no issue navigating the moving floor. He thanked the bus driver as he stepped off and headed toward the mall.
Lani plucked his ipod out of his jeans pocket to skip a song before replacing it. He didn't feel like listening to what was "Behind Blue Eyes". He had a dark button up shirt on and as he walked he noted the heat and rolled the sleeves to his elbows. Lani was here for a very specific reason and that was to find a gift for his father for his birthday. He'd already gotten a card and a small charm for Mother's Day for when he went home for the weekend to see his parents. His father's birthday was Monday and Lani would have to make sure he had something before he left on Saturday with his sister. Caroline was at least speaking to him again. He'd told her that he and Odion were trying. She hadn't been happy to hear that he'd broken Odion's nose nor that Odion had given him a fair amount of bruises as well. He was lucky, his hid very well. He wanted to make things work with Odion, he'd tried to tell Odion why he was stalling, but his roommate had come in and well, Adam had a very good way of making mountains out of molehills.
The fact remained that Lani and his father didn't get along, and the telekinetic didn't have the slightest clue what to get his father for his birthday. The only thing they had in common was taste in music and sports. Beyond that Lani would be hard pressed to find something that he and his father could agree on. Lani strolled by a music shop and he pulled his headphones out of his ears. He wasn't worried about being robbed, no Lani was very aware even without his ears. But he found it impolite to shop without leaving his ears open and it also helped if there was anything he'd like to take a five finger discount on. Lani spent some time looking through the vinyls. He didn't have a record player and neither did his father anymore, but there was something special about the old records. He moved on to look at the guitars and he couldn't resist poking a few strings. He'd never learned how to play but his dad had for a very brief time. He'd sold it when Caroline got sick. Lani considered the guitar and turned away. His father would never accept it if Lani stole it and with no job it wasn't like he could afford it. Lani started looking through the CDs instead, finding himself very distracted and flipping a few over that looked interesting to him and looking through a few older punk albums.
