SUE: A Night Of Terror (Open to Everyone)

OOC: This is a group thread of ghost stories hosted by Anthony and Kailin. All are welcome to come just to listen, but if you want your character to contribute to the ghost story madness, please pm me on this account so I can coordinate it IC the turn rotation. Once character entrances are established, one person will be chosen to post their story, then we can all react to it. Then the next person in the rotation will post theirs, etc etc. Thankies and have fun!


Third day of the blackout and still no word when things were going to get back to normal. So, what better way to pass the time and take advantage of it than to host a get together where we all compete to see who can tell the story that gives the biggest creepies? With Kailin offering her illusions as a way to illustrate(and a bottle of Advil and aspirin on standby) it was bound to be a night of epic! Right!?

The word was spread to show up just after sundown. Bring flashlights, candles, pillows, stuffed animals, anything you thought you needed to feel safe from the spirits! Mwa ha ha ha ha!! With any luck, there would be an adequate turnout.

Anthony set a few of those battery powered snap-lights along the counters of the kitchenette and on the table, where he had a line of various drinks and sodas. A little bit of alcohol, because what was a party without alcohol, but that wasn't the main focus so there was a limited selection. The center of the common room had been cleared out a little so that the couch was pushed against the wall and the coffee tables with it, leaving the center open for the gathering. There was an assortment of candles, both artificial and real, littered about to provide some of that extra spooky effect of the flickering light.

Now all that was left was to wait for people to show up.

Xun didn't know what was going on.

Which, honestly, wasn't unusual. He wasn't often in on what the more popular crowds at Hammel were doing (or the not-so-popular, even - he really just stuck to himself), so when Brooke had found him and demanded he attend this... Whatever it was with her, Xun didn't have any reason to protest. Well, despite the fact that he was absolutely terrified of ghosts, slept with a night light, and had been terrified and hiding under his sheets the entire time this blackout had gone on...

But he wasn't exactly aware of the purpose of this gathering, and, he figured, ghosts were less likely to attack a larger group of people, right? Right...

The tall, skinny athlete walked nervously down the hall, keeping his hand against the wall to keep himself from running into anything. He squinted as they passed a doorway and lit up the number with his flashlight - 506. "Must be the next one," he mumbled to Brooke. Sure enough, he peeked into the next dorm room to see it lit with candles, which, nope, totally didn't freak him out more than he was already. "A-are you sure about this?" he asked his... Friend? "I.... I don't know..."

Of course Brooke knew what was going on, she always knew when things were going down, though just because she knew about them didn’t mean she always went to them or even participated in whatever was going do-wown. But this time, this night, she had a gloooorious plan and prepared a friiiightful tale of courage, tears, and sorrow that was sure to get her classmates’ adrenaline flowing!

Poor Xunie baby wasn’t doing nothing more than just hiding out in his room, so Brooke, of course, considered it her primary mission in life to expel him from the space between his sheets and his mattress and “encourage” the little cutie to participate and socialize amongst his peers, who were no doubt about to welcome him with open arms. After all, they welcomed her with open arms regularly, who wouldn’t?

“Oooof course I am,” she insisted as she quite literally pushed him over the threshold and into the candle-lit room. “Doon’t worrrry! You’ll be fine,” she insisted, giving his widdle cheeks a widdle pinch. Though if he tried to run, Brooke was more than prepared to tackle him and kick him back into the room. Maybe tie him up? Aww, but she didn’t have a rope…mrr…

Brooke gave him a confident pat on the back…and then an encouraging pinch right where it counted.

Anthony had brought up the idea of making use of this blackout by putting on a get-together where they spoke different ghost stories to try and freak everyone out. Normally she would only do such things to her siblings, but this was with Anthony, and hey, it'd be a fun get together. The Blonde even offered to provide illusions, so long as she had some sort of pain killer at hand, because her side effects did include painful headaches, and possible migraines. But this was a chance to work on her power, and hang out with some interesting people.

Kailin assisted in the setup, and even snuck over some alcohol (even though she wasn't going to be the one drinking it) just for the sake of entertaining the guests. Most people expected at least some sort of buzz at a party, and she wasn't going to disappoint; she never had, anyway. However, when she saw the soda Anthony brought, she felt some relief flood over her. At least she could drink something tonight.

The blonde had just finished setting up the seating arrangements, and she turned to see Anthony standing in the flickering light. Her lips curled up into her signature smile, her legs taking her to where he stood.

"It looks good," Kales commented, her arms reaching up and loosely wrapping her arms around his neck. If she were wearing the heels she originally came in, the girl would probably have been his height, if not slightly taller. But the minute she reached the front door, they were off. So now, all she was left with was the rest of the outfit, deciding it was a night for something different. Kailin wearing skinnies and leather? Almost unheard of.

She thanked Claudia for the idea.

"Ready to freak some people out?" The girl laughed lightly.

And that's when the first guests walked in.

Kamillia skateboarded down the hall of the boys dorm, she really wasn’t supposed to be in here. But did she care? Not really. Why was she even here? Her friend told her about the ghost telling thing that was going down in one of the boys dorms. She was so all over that, cause why wouldn’t she be? There would be making people piss their pants, and guys to flirt with and maybe just maybe hook up with. Maybe not the hooking up with. Okay maybe just a bit of hooking up with… Okay so it was a fight in her mind on whether she should start dating guys again, cause she was starting to even wonder if she should keep her eyes on Adam.. It was a very complicated situation in her mind. Well she would like to think it was a problem all girls had… Like periods, something for all girls to bond over. God, even just thinking about that made her puke it was so lame.

Remembering the dorm number, she really wasn’t sure if her friend would be here or not, he had just randomly her a party was happening with ghost story telling and she was so in. She was actually already at Hammel, cause if she wasn’t she wouldn’t be here, because there was no way she was traveling from her home to here just for a party.

She saw both girls and boys go into one dorm and figured out that, that one must be it. She smirked, oh how much trouble would they get into? Granted the dorm monitors must be having their hands full with the poweroutage, since most teens were dicks, and most likely doing a lot of things they shouldn’t be right now. Like her, right now.

Coming into the dorm, she looked around, she knew no one, that was always a good sign. Raising an eyebrow at the room, small party, but hey ghost stories! And oh beer! She went over and grabbed one, then took a seat on the floor. Holding the beer can up, “One of you has to tell me your secret for being able to sneak this in here.”

Axelle was not a professional "sneaker", to that end she breezed into the boys dorm like she owned the place and hoped that no one tried to stop her. Kami had told her about the ghost story party and she had really wanted to join in. Clutching her stuffed giraffe "Stalky" under one of her arms with a flashlight in her pocket, she casually strolled down the hall and was almost sucessful in reaching her destination unscathed before she tripped over a rise in the carpet and fell forward. Years of falling practice had her hands flying out to catch herself and minimize impact and her head never touched the floor even though her wrist twinged and then burned from slamming into the ground and sliding to accomodate her bodyweight.

Grumbling under her breath she checked to make sure she wasn't bleeding before finally reaching the room and pushing open the door. She saw that Kami was already there along with some other students. "Hey Kami!" she chirped cheerfully as she toed her shoes off and bounded into the room. She looked around and spotted their hosts for the evening. She didn't know them super well but she had always been pretty good at names. "Hello Anthony, Kailin!" she nooded to each in turn before looking at Xun and Brooke, recognizing them from around campus. "Hey guys," she plopped herself down next to Kami and looked at the alcohol, not necessarily surprised to see any here. She wouldn't be drinking but she wasn't going to ruin someone else's good time by speaking out against it.

Xun stumbled slightly as Brooke pushed him through the doorway, protesting a bit but otherwise doing nothing to keep himself from entering. He quickly straightened and looked around, keeping his chin held high and a fake face of bravery on. "Aiya!" he growled at Brooke when he felt the pinch, giving her a sharp (but slightly pouty) glare before he turned and slowly ambled into the room, picking a seat in the corner not too far away from the door in case he... Needed to leave for any reason.

He didn't know anyone, which wasn't surprising. Xun really didn't know a lot of people in general at school, he usually stuck to himself. He caught an glimpse of what he assumed was alcohol being offered nearby, but it wasn't baijiu, so he wasn't interested. Granted, he didn't drink all that often even when Chinese beverages were offered, but still.

He blinked and looked up as a couple other people entered the room, giving a shy,"Hi," to the second girl that entered and greeted them. Xun huddled close to Brooke, starting to feel even more like he shouldn't have come. Or at least wishing he'd brought his panda plushie with him for comfort. Almost without thinking, his hand slipped over to grasp onto Brooke's, seeking some small bit of reassurance in the spooky atmosphere. "Y... You don't think there are ghosts in here, do you?" he breathed nervously, looking around the room.

GEORGE WAS THE PLUSHIE QUEEEEEN! And she wasn't afraid to show it. Was it childish to own over fifty different plushies? Psh, no. If anything, fifty wasn't enough! But, from that large number, she had chosen a select few who would have honour in joining her in a night of ghosty goodness. Oh, this would be fun.

She walked down the semi-familiar halls of the Boy's Dorms with her arms full of fluffiness, having to walk sideways into the room that had been delagated as the place where the magic would happen. She was obviously the coolest person there, with a Pikachu, a bear rabbit of sorts, a cute little polar bear, a pink llama (she was lucky to not have been abandoned - pink was bleh) and an actual teddy bear. Oh, they were all wearing hats, of course.

Because of her way of entry into the darkened room, one of the first people she saw, she recognized, and the other, she had actually spoken to. She smiled their way, "Sup, Xun." It wasn't like they'd talked since their conversation ages back (well, it felt like ages), but that didn't stop her from being friendly.

The girl under the fedora would've waved or something at the others, but her hands were full. And someone caught her eye, next to someone she didn't know (yet), "Axe!" She went over and kind of fell into her lap, plushies breaking the fall. Her head kind of hit the other person and she strained to smile up at them as her hat rolled off of her head, "Hi. I don't believe we've met." She used those non-existant muscles of her's to get up and sit next to Axelle, "I'm George. Nice to be making your acquaintance." She nodded, and began to sit her various animals around her folded legs, ignoring any and all alcohol for the time being.

The British girl turned to Axe, "So! This should be fun." Ghosts weren't too scary. She'd seen worse.

[Raylaigh Hawthorne]

The lights went out and Raylaigh’s first instinct had been to panic, he had been in the library and it had been light, more or less, but now that it had gotten dark things were starting to get creepy. He got a text from Maddie telling him about a ghost story thing going on in one of the dorms and basically, listening to scary stories seemed even better than being alone in the dark. Ray had a told her that he’d meet her there. Raylaigh was afraid but he would never admit it. He didn’t like the dark, the dark was a mysterious place. Sure he slept in the dark but he’d rather be able to see if he was awake. He was in a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie and he brought along with him a small blanket off his bed in case he needed to hide under something.

It had been dark for so long now, Ray was starting to wonder if the power was every going to come back on. He had the blanket wrapped around him in a sort of cape when he knocked on the door and opened it. There were already a few people around and Ray looked around and didn’t see Maddie so he just shuffled in and would wait for her where there were people, not out in the hall where it was creepy. “Hi,” he said shyly and took out a few votives and held them out. “I’m Ray,” he introduced himself to the people he didn’t know. He knew they weren’t supposed to have candles in the dorms but he loved them and so long as he didn’t set off the fire alarm he was fine. And it made the dark easier to chase away now. If Maddie didn’t show up someone in this room was going to be Ray’s snuggle buddy because he could not do scary storied without someone to snuggle with. He took a seat on the couch next to the girl with a million stuffed animals. He grinned at her when she said ghost stories were fun. Yeah, so long as ghosts weren’t real. He sent Maddie a text telling her to hurry!

Madison made her way to threw the boys dorm armed with one cover, three of her her favorite stuff animals for the story, and one flashlight so she could see. She was running a little late because she couldn't find her charmander. Turned out he was hiding in one of the cabins she kept her snacks in. She automatically spotted Ray and plop down next to him. "Sorry I took so long. Mrs Delilah (the bunny) and Mr bear was ready but my charmander got into the snack cabinet. He must of been there because of a mid-night snack. Ready to get scared"? She handed him Mrs Delilah. "I brought her for you. She very good at handling scared people". She smiled as she notice the girl who was next to Ray had stuff animals to. "Hey look great mind think alike".

Her moment with Anthony was quickly interrupted, by not only one, but three people. Kailin's attention was fully grabbed when one of the girls decided to ask about the beer.

"I don't live on Campus, and they don't check bags unless they need to," Kailin offered a sly smile, not her usual bright and bubbly grin, but it was something. She eyed her up and down, thinking to herself how she was pretty, but not in the way that Kailin was. She had that sort of 'Claudia' vibe that Kailin really liked. Daring. "Plus being a good girl has it's perks at times; nobody expects the straight A student."

"Kami!" Her attention was swiped by a bright haired Axelle running through the door, her tiny frame seeming even smaller in the doorway of the dorm. She had yelled that name towards the girl she had just spoken to, so she assumed that was her name. Kami. Okay, she could remember that.

"Hey," Kailin breathed, offering a wave, or rather, a slight flick of her wrist with her palm open. There was really too many people coming into the room and settling themselves in that she couldn't greet each and every one of them until the actual party would start. Some people did catch her eye, however, like the girl with five plushies in her hands, and the asian kid looking scared out of his wits. Poor thing, he wouldn't know what would be hitting him.

She had ultimately decided that she would target a few individuals at a time with brief flashes or auditory illusions, so some would have no clue why the other's were screaming and/or getting freaked out, only adding to the suspense. That, and the fact that Kailin could only target no more than four people at one time, maximum.

Oh god, she hoped Tony got some strong painkillers. God knows how bad her head is going to hurt, but this was for the sake of enjoyment, so she was willing to whatever she could to make things enjoyable for everyone.

Oriel was totally not afraid of the dark. Actually, he wasn’t, it was just a little dark and if he couldn’t handle that much then he wouldn’t have lasted a day anywhere in the streets of New York. BUT, he was also totally not afraid of ghosts. Nope! Because ghosts were obviously not real and whoever thought of something so ridiculous as thinking that your dead relatives were following you around and whispering secret things in your ear that you didn’t know you were hearing? Who decided that those distant shadows of a flickering candle-light was due to the movement of spirits? Spirits…what were they supposed to be anyway? The only spirit that Oriel acknowledged was one with about 47% alcohol content. Yup…Oriel totally didn’t think that ghosts or the idea of ghosts were creepy and unsettling.

And just to prove his point, when Phoenix brought up the gathering of people during this here blackout who thought that telling ghostly stories would be a good idea, Oriel was more than okay with agreeing to go, just to prove to Phoenix(whom Oriel was certain didn’t believe him) that he wasn’t totally creeped out by that kind of thing.

“This is dumb. Why are we here again?” Oriel mumbled as they approached the room, flashing their tiny little flashlight at the room number to make sure it was right. Of course it was right, the one thing Oriel noticed was that it was the same room number as Kodi. He wondered if Kodi was going to be there? He hoped so(not) so they could laugh together about just how not-scary any of this was. But no, it was being hosted by his roommate, the guy who had the sense to call an ambulance when Kodi accidentally OD’d on cold medicine…seriously, who knew one could do that? Oriel didn’t think it was possible, that shit was over the counter stuff, right? That meant it was safe…right?

Anyway, Oriel made sure to hold tight to Phoenix’s hand(just to make sure he didn’t wander off) as they stalked into the room and led Phoenix to the other side of George and he entourage of stuffed friends. “Hey…” he said to her with a grin. “Don’t think you were s’pposed to bring your whole family, right?” Oriel smiled then went turned back to Phoenix, giving him a kiss on the cheek. “I’ll be holding your hand the whole time, Squish, so you don’t get too scared, alright?” Totally not for his own benefit, nope.

Contrary to what many people might think, Phoenix actually held no fear towards the supernatural whatsoever. He'd seen so many hallucinations in his life, the idea of ethereal beings drifting around haunting people seemed incredibly silly and unimaginable to him. So when he'd heard about this ghost story-telling event going on during this blackout, he'd sort of snickered at the idea at first.

But hey, it might be fun, right? No matter how much Oriel tried to convince him, Phoenix still had an inkling his younger lover was far more superstitious than he let on. This would give the older boy a rare chance to be the braver, more amused of the duo for once and comfort his Squishy if he scared his poor widdle heart from all the scurry stories.

"Because you're goin' t'convince me you're not scared of ghosts and spirits and shit," he reminded Oriel with a smug grin, giving his hand a squeeze that was more challenging than comforting. He didn't like the fact that this was at Kodi's dorm, but maybe if they were lucky, he wouldn't be around.

Who he didn't expect to see - in fact, the last person he expected to see - as they walked into the room was none other than his cocky-as-hell (or so he told himself) cousin, Xun. He rose his eyebrows as their eyes met. "The hell're you doin' here?" he asked, a small edge to his voice. "You know you get scared shitless by-"

"Shut up," the Chinese boy hissed, and Phoenix giggled, waving a hand at the obviously frightened boy. He looked forward to seeing his very superstitious relative freak out over nothing. "Oriel, have you met Xun?" he asked in a whisper as they sat next to George; his cousin wasn't too far from them. Phen waved cheerily to George, the picture of calm and relaxation in the face of this 'scary' atmosphere. "Oh, shush," he snickered, raising the hand he was holding and kissing the back of it. "I'll give you ten dollars if I do anythin' more than roll my eyes."

Brooke was definitely totes excited for this event and had a story that was gonna bristle you up like a scratchy toothbrush. She didn’t care if little Xunie was scared, it wasn’t that bad, and he was probably just being a big baby anyway! He was going to enjoy himself if it was that last thing she did! “Of cooourrrse not! Them’s just stories.” She leaned in closely to the Chinese boy. “Orrr…are your spidey senses telling you something?”

She tee-hee-hee’d a bit longer as she clung to him for another moment before spying the line of drinks over on the counters and promptly shoving the boy into the emerging circle of listeners and dashing off to go obtain them some booze! Seconds later, and after a good how-dee-doo of some of the other arrivals - Kam, Axelle, and a couple of underclassmen, none of which she was anything more than acquaintances with if even that - Brooke skedaddled back to the circle and handed her China-man an open bottle of something beer-y. She poked him in the cheek. “Hey!” she called out to one of the other girls. “You with the stuffed harem! Mind if we steal a couple?” Because Xunie looked like he was going to pass out if he didn’t have something to cling to.

Her eyes spied a couple of tall sweetums walk into the room, one who seemed to connect with one of the other silly girls, and another scruffy fellow who was practically attached to his asian counterpart. Pooor widdle kewtie! She just wanted to pinch his cheeky-poos! She waved up at them with a bright smile. “Haii~” she gleed from behind her drink. "I'm Xunie's chaperone," she advertised, holding out a hand to shake to the other asian boy. "And you aare?"

Well. Didn't she feel popular. So many people sat nearby, it was fun! It also meant it would be difficult to run away if she got scared... pah, who was she kidding? This was the girl who would stay up to whatever godly hour playing Amnesia in the dark. And totally not screaming. It was cool, this was gonna be funny, over anything else.

She watched people come in, and smiled and waved as they settled, because that was the kind of nice person she was, hell yeah. When another girl came in with multiple plushies, her smile widened, and she nodded at her comment, "Yes," she said, snuggling her family closer, "Yes they do."

And then she heard someone call out behind her. When she heard the words 'stuffed harem', she assumed it had something to do with her. She swivelled around and - hey, it was the girl with Xun. The Londoner beamed over, "Sure!" She turned back to decide who she would be sending over (oh no, abandonment), when two familiar faces flounced in.

And then one of them began talking sharply to Xun. Okay, Phen... George frowned, but smiled at the family comment, "You should be glad I didn't bring my whole family, I have gazillions." She rotated in her seat against to face the pair behind them, holding the polar bear and the rabbit bear thing in her hand, "Come and gettit!" She half-shouted, waving them about a little.

Oh, and she didn't really realize that this was Kodi's room. She didn't know these things.

She snatched up her llama (whom she hadst thou dubbed as Lady Llamacheeks) and wrapped her arms around its neck (lightly, lightly of course; lovingly? Maybe...) And turned to Phen, "No offense, but I thought this kinda spooky-scary stuff would be too much for you. No offense, no offense, don't hit me with a fence~!" George was semi-decent at reading people - and Phen definitely didn't seem that worried, or scared... at all. Which confused her. Eh, she left it.
