“Of course!” Sean was quick to agree to reminding her, only if necessary. This was important to him, and he knew how to assert himself enough to offer gentle reminders, even if his quiet, introverted nature and polite demeanor might appear to the contrary. He would make this his priority when the holiday loomed closer.
Sean then frowned at the question, not from the question itself, but because he realized that he could not answer it in a satisfactory way. “I don’t know.” Objectively, there was no shame in that admission, as nobody but the Lord was omniscient, not even Robert. His trainer had worked so hard to instill in Sean acceptance of the fact that he could not know everything and could not fix everything, not even with telepathy, and this was not a failure of character. His mother had never explained cooking to him, since he was a boy, and so he had no reason to know the answer to that. Particularly not since he had not lived at home for any stretch of time since manifesting five years ago.
At the same time, shouldn’t he be able to answer that definitively? Shouldn’t he have paid more attention to what his mother did at home?
The young telepath pushed those thoughts from his mind. He could try to be more observant the next time he was at home, and, if it turned out that his mother had a specific recipe, he could try to commit it to memory or otherwise copy it if he got to go home for a weekend between now and Thanksgiving. That tended not to happen, so he did not have his hopes up. Visits tended to be few and far between.
