If I'm not in jail, why is it a cell phone?

It had been quite the distance and he still wasn't tired enough to turn back from his run. Luke needed to build up some condition if he were to run with Karalie seeing as she mention she liked it, anything to impress a girl, right? 

He had earbuds in and was listening to Lacuna Coil, a band he used to listen to quite a lot back in the day. He saw it on his Ipod and thought he should try listening to it again for the fun of it. He had forgotten that the music they made was quite emotional to him and often got him thinking. So as he found a bench he plopped down and plucked out one of his earbuds to be able to hear both the music and the nice serenity of the nature around him.

He grabbed his phone to see if he had missed anything, but found that no one had contacted him. Maybe he should contact someone instead of waiting for someone to contact him. He went to his contacts and browsed them. It was awfully empty. Marnie Sullivan. Adaryn Breslin. Mother. Father. He gave it some thought and concluded that, as he deleted the numbers of both his parents, he needed Karalie's number.

But for now, he began writing a message to Adaryn.

''Hey. Remember me? That guy, trying to change and all? Bet ya do.''

He contemplated hitting send but decided against it for a moment. Boy was he bad at starting a conversation.

He added 
''So, how about this weather?''

He then hit send.

Addie was on her break when she felt a text buzz in her pocket, and because she had about ten minutes, she figured she might as well answer it. With school back up, her hours were cut down a lot more so she worked after school for about 4 hours every other day during the weekdays and typical shifts on Saturday and Sunday. This wasn't giving her much time to do anything, but the fact was that she was graduating soon and when she did, there was going to be far more to worry about if she didn't have money saved up for an apartment. She might have to share one, but she had to be able to provide, and that's what she was doing for herself now - ensuring she would have some money to pay for the hard days to come.

A year went by really fast.

The name Luke flashed on her screen, and she sighed. It had been a while since they spoke, but all she could do was remember 'The Talk' and how he reacted in it, she couldn't help but snicker. However, she answered.

Kind of hard to forget,

Addie hit send, but then realized that could be interpreted in a different way than she intended.

You know, because of the Talk and everything.

The sound of breaking glass nearly broke him even though he knew the reply was coming. He turned on the screen and navigated to his messaging application and saw that Adaryn had replied. Obviously.

Luke chuckled as he saw her mention he was hard to forget, but then instantly another message popped up saying it was because of the talk. The boy couldn't really deny his hopes getting up a bit over the first message, but she wasn't the one he wanted. He shuddered.

''Good. Because I'd hate to crush a pretty girl like you by saying there's someone else in play xD''
