Pick up a Book [Avery and Kessa]

The boy nodded and gave Avery a small smile. "Mhm, exactly."

Then came the breakdown. Evan was glad Kessa chose to fall on Avery, because he had no idea what to do. It wasn't the first time he'd seen a breakdown, of course. They happened all the time; especially with new students. But he never got involved because he really didn't know how to deal with that sort of thing. Plus she was sobbing, and watching girls cry was always heart wrenching.

Evan shifted his weight again, feeling awkward next to the two girls. Well, the best he could do was try to comfort Kessa too, and since she was already clinging to Avery, he decided to gently pat the ginger on the back. "Shhh. It's going to be alright," he told her in his best soothing voice. "You're not the only one. You've got me and Avery here, and all the other students and the teachers. You're not alone." That...was surprisingly fluent.

Avery gasped in shock. When Kessa started to weep Avery patted her back along with Evan. "Evan is right Kessa. You have Evan and me here for you. Take a nice deep calm breath." Avery breathed in and out to demenstraight. "Calm down adn tell us what is your ability Kessa? Maybe Evan or I can help. I know I can relate. I mean to a certaint extent of course." Avery looked at Evan with the please help look. Most of the time Avery didn't know what to do with people in histaria. Thats what she assumed Kessa was in right now.

She felt the two of them patting her back and she looked at the pair "I'm sorry, really" she said softly as she stepped back from Avery wiping her wet face with the edge of her shirt.

With a sniffle here and there she went over to the books she had dropped before and brought them back to them, placing them on the edge of the table, a pause as she stared at the top book "Dreams" she sighed as she shifted her weight and turned to face Avery and Evan "I don't know what you would call it but my dreams come true for real" there was an uneasy pause "Well not all the time usually its the really bad dreams, the nightmares that do" with that said one could clearly see the fear in her eyes.

His reassuring comment was the only thing he could think to say, and he remained quite for the remainder of Kessa's crying session. When Avery looked at him for help, he just mirrored her expression. Evan was just as lost as she was, and her breath coaching was a better bet than anything he might suggest. As Kessa wound down and left to grab her books, the boy looked around the library. It was a wonder that no one else had joined them to see what was wrong, but maybe that was more luck than anything. After all, Evan doubting drawing a crowd was going to help calm the girl down.

It might have been inappropriate to hug someone he just met, but there was something about the look in Kessa's eyes that made it necessary for Evan to do so. He felt bad for hating his power when there were people like Kessa who obviously had it much worse, because seriously, getting stuck in walls didn't compare to having nightmares that came true. The whole thing was like a bucket of cold water to his face. "I'm sorry," he muttered.

Avery was about to cry for Kessa. She could definatley relate to what the girl was going threw. The tornado caused Avery to feel as if she had diestroyed the world. Hugging the girl tight Avery spoke softly "I know what its really hard to have an ability that causes pain on you and others. I know its really really hard to believe but it will get better. You might still dislike or even wish that your ability was gone. Thats what i wish. I wish to be normal all the time. But my ability has been getting better since I have been here at Hammel. However I can never forgive myself for the things I have done because of it."

Avery hoped that that made the girl feel a little better. Knowing how it was when she first arrived Avery wanted it to be better for Kessa. Having an ability and being sent far from home was tough enough, let alone having a gift that hurts you or gives you thoughts or dreams that are horrible but you can't seem to stop them.
