The Basics
Name: Melodee Rose Riker
Nicknames: Mel, Princess
Age: 14
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Clairaudiance - Initially the clairaudiant will only hear pieces of chopped conversation without context, but as the clairaudiant gains competence and discipline he or she will be able to hear more of the conversation and eventually as much of it as they have the will and skill to listen to. It was initially thought that the clairaudiant used wind and breezes to carry conversation to them, and while that may have some advantage,it's unknown as to whether it has more than a minimal effect.
Recorded Range: Within a mile at untrained state to up to 20 miles though it is hypothesized that a clairaudiant may be able to hear further, but no evidence has been forthcoming on that.
Those with clairaudiance are known to suffer from headaches ranging from mild to debilitating migraines, ear infections ranging from mild to severe, and occasional confusion as to what was actually said and what was over heard at the time.

General Appearance: A fashion-conscious teenager, Melodee pays attention to the all the right magazines, and manages her own look by incorporating the tips and styles inside their pages. She knows what's in and what's out, has her 'color wheel' memorized and isn't beneath giving advice to others or buying them an outfit that compliments their body type and coloring if it will benefit her later.
High fashion is one thing, but one can't walk around in the wear-able art shown in high fashion shows. So while she keeps up with what's going on in such things, Mel prefers more functional fashion. Pencil skirts, jeans, blouses, and on rare occasions a t-shirts make up her usual wardrobe. These things are accented with different pieces of jewelry that young Miss Riker keeps a close inventory of, and an assortment of hand and shoulder bags. She is nothing if not prepared and ultimately has enough clothes to open a small boutique herself if she were of the mind, or age.
Keeping her coppery hair long, Mel wears it straight, or in curls depending on the day and her mood. Also, humidity plays a large part. If it looks like her hair is going to friz that day, she'll curl it to disguise the unseemlyness. Her bangs hang below her eyes, but she keeps them long and wispy so that she can brush them to the side and integrate them into other styles if she were in such a mood to. While she believes that thick, shorter bangs have their place in hair fashion, she also thinks that they're used irresponsibly and on face shapes that just shouldn't have bangs ever.
Cosmetics have their place in Melodee's life, but she uses them sparingly. She learned a skin routine from her mother that she keeps to in sickness and in health. A lip balm is always in her to keep her lips moisturized, and hand sanitizer for those moments where one just needs to quickly wipe their hands down.
Personality: Melodee acts as pretty as she looks, but behind closed doors she's as spoiled as they come. In her short time on earth things have been handed to her on the proverbial silver platter. Partly because her parents could afford it and partly because Melodee learned how to play the system early on. Sweet drew more bees than sour. And bees pollinated, allowing things to grow and reproduce. Thus, the kinder she was the ore willing people were willing to do and give her things. Being pretty didn't hurt matters either, and Melodee wasn't beyond that understanding. Knowing this, Melodee asks for much, often in ways that don't seem like she's asking.
Once she tires of one "toy" be it a person or item, she will set it aside, but not dismiss it entirely. There might be residual use there, and she'd learned from watching those around her, that throwing people aside was not the best option.
A "modern princess" in many ways, Melodee treats herself to nice things because she honestly believes that she deserves them. Those who cannot do for themselves are either too weak, stupid, or unmotivated to get anywhere in life. It is Mel's life goal, even at her young age, to be a powerful executive. Like her parents. In order to meet that goal, Melodee maintains her grades with the same level of attention and perfection that she applies to her wardrobe.

History
One might think that the children of two powerful executives would be ignored, but none of the Riker offspring were. They were cared for, taught, nurtured, and given many opportunities to try whatever it was they wanted. But it wasn't going to last. Eventually Mr. and Mrs. Riker grew further and further apart. Their love for their children was still strong, but they could no longer live with each other.
After her parent's divorce, Melodee went with her mother to New York. Her brother, her playmate, was left behind with their father.. New York was vastly different than California. Sometimes, it seemed, people forgot to have fun. Mel watched as her mother adapted to started playing the games on the East Coast, and winning.
While Karen revised her methods for the East Coast, Melody was busy getting everything she asked for. So many people were worried about what the divorce would mean for the little girl that they didn't realize there were being played. Of course Mel did miss her father, but she wasn't going to suddenly start stealing or running with a rougher crowd. Not that everyone else around her needed to know that. A well placed pout, or allowing someone to over hear a sniffle and a yearning for "back home" was often all it took to get what she wanted before she even asked. Especially from her mother's employees who wanted nothing more than to remain in Karen's good graces.
Being a believer that those of higher class needed more skills than power, Karen enrolled her daughter in piano lessons. To her own surprise, Melodee enjoyed the lessons and took to the piano well enough, though she had no illusions of being upgraded to concert status. Following Piano was ballroom dancing, it was all a part of the 'natural order' of things according to her mother. The lesson's weren't boring, at the very least. And her ballroom partner was cute enough she supposed.
While life in New York wasn't the same as it was in California, Melodee thrived. Though she only really got to see her father and brother during the holidays, she kept in close contact with Kurt through letters, phone calls, and emails. Every tool that was open to the children was used. But distance and time did it's damage. Melodee and Kurt's interests took different paths. Her interest lay in getting the most attention (all positive of course) from those worthy enough to bestow it upon her. The prettier the items she got as gifts, the higher that person rose in her personal book of 'friends'. And her brother delved further into sports and his own friends. He didn't share Mel's ambitions. The phone calls got shorter and the emails less frequent.
It wasn't long after her first menstrual cycle that Melodee began to hear things. Bits of conversation that were completely out of context. Some voices she recognized, others she didn't know. More often than not the bits of conversation were boring and mundane, reminders to buy bread, or asking for help with running lines. Occasionally something interesting would flit by, but that was rare. Yet with this new found ability, Melodee began to suffer headaches and was making a habit of taking three or four painkillers with every meal.
Shortly there after she was visited by a recruiter from a private school for 'people like her'. And as far as she could tell there wasn't much choice. Either she could go there, or she could have a private powers tutor. But either way she was a freak. No hiding that fact and as often as she was hearing confused pieces of conversation, she needed to be in a place where cringing or turning around to see who was speaking to her wouldn't make her stand out in an unfavorable way.
Hammel Institute in Pilot's Ridge Vermont it was then.
