The Basics
Name: Levente Cohen
Nicknames: Levi
Age: 36
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Hammel Staff/Maintenance
Powers: : Electricity Manipulation – Levi has the ability to absorb and manipulate static electricity. If he has enough electricity stored he can send lightning bolt from his palms or give a severe shocks to persons or objects. But if he’s “running on empty” the most he can do is small shocks. He likes to think of it like a gas gauge. He cannot power electrical devices. In fact he tends to fry anything he touches more complex than a small cellphone. He tends to shock people a lot by accident, like any other person who has just walked across a thick carpet with socks on, but not enough to hurt them. He usually has decent control over his power, except when he’s either extremely manic or depressed. But he knows himself well enough to keep powers in check during those times. Or to at least stay away from any situation where he might cause harm. He gets physically and mentally exhausted after any big use of his powers, which gives him less control over his mental status. He also has the same effect if he’s “gauge” is full. So he tries to maintain a balance. But he’s not always perfect with that.

The Details
Hair Color: Dark Blond
Eye Color: Green
Any Piercings? None
Any Tattoos? None so far. He wants one but can never make up his mind about what to get and where.
Any Scars? He has a few from a car accident, including one fairly gruesome one on his calf. His hands are fairly banged up as well from various handyman jobs.
General Appearance: : Levi is usually seen in a raggedy T-shirts and jeans. Because he’s always fixing or building something, his clothing is ripped up and covered in oil spots and paint. On the other hand, Levi cleans up well. Although he always has some form of a beard on his face, he never lets it get too long. When he’s not in his work clothes, he wears button-up shirts and on occasion he’ll throw on a tie. He is very muscular. Although he does not have super strength, he’s much stronger than the average man. He likes to keep fit by lifting weights and long-distance running.
A lot of Levi’s appearance depends on what mood he is in. He is bi-polar so what he looks like one day could be completely different from a week from now if he mood changes. When he’s going through a manic phase, Levi is in constant motion. He hardly stops to sleep and cannot sit still to save his life. He also tends to talk faster and smile a ton. When he’s having a depressive episode he manages to keep up with his general hygiene and his daily tasks, but he’s not motivated to go much past that. So he spends more time in his work clothes and less time cleaning up.
Because of Levi’s power, he generates more static electricity than others. His hair has a hard time staying put a lot of the time. Sometimes, things, such as socks, will stick to his clothing for a while before he notices them.
Personality: : Levi was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder a few years after his power manifested. Because any medication affects his control over his power, Levi refuses to take them. As a result, his mood goes from extreme highs to extreme lows. Unlike the majority of people who have bi-polar disorder, his mood cycles are often very short and his depressive or manic episodes may last for only a few days. But he never stays in any sort of middle area for long either.
After years of living this way, Levi has developed some minor control over his depressive episodes. Although he may get sad or moody, he has learned the skills to keep himself from getting too down. He will force himself to interact with his friends or do physical activity to lift his mood somewhat. His manic episodes are another story. When he’s really up, he will go days without sleeping, run around constantly, and talk a mile a minute about everything he has planned for the day. Sometime he gets a tad annoying to everyone around him when he’s like that.
In general, Levi is a fairly happy guy. Although he had some dark times after his wife and son died, he has to move past a majority of the pain. It takes a lot to make him angry and he will usually walk away from a fight. The only times he really gets mad is when someone tries to hurt someone he cares about. Although he tries not to get so attached to people, he has a big heart and a huge soft spot for children. He tries not to let everyone know how much he cares, but usually they pick up on it eventually.
Levi enjoys working with his hands. More than enjoys, he lives for it. Although he didn’t get the best grades in the school, he always excelled at anything he had to build or fix. He couldn’t care less about the period table or elements but show him a engine or some blue-prints and he’s like a kid at a candy store. He doesn’t feel like he really enjoyed the day if he’s not sweating and tired by the end of it..

History
Levi grew up as the middle child of two loving parents. Although his parents had their fights, mostly over his mother’s old Hungarian family traditions and his father’s new ideas, they both deeply loved their three children. When Levi’s power manifested at age thirteen, his family moved closer to Hammel so that it would be easier for them to visit. Levi chose to live in the dorms to learn more about the other metas. His parents agreed with the decision because they wanted him to learn control over his power. Although Levi’s grades at Hammel were not always the best, he made friends easily and learned to embrace his new way of life with a smile. After graduation, Levi worked with his father’s construction business. Although he had better luck with computers and other technology in those days, he still preferred working with his hands and tools.
In his early twenties, Levi started having a lot of control controlling his emotions. One day he felt like his was on top of the world and the next he would refuse to leave his bed because everything felt meaningless. His parents thought he was just having trouble adjusting to adult life, but after a time they started to worry. They finally talked Levi into seeing a psychiatrist and Levi was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and given medication. Although the medication improved his mental status, Levi discovered that any medication severely impacted his control over his power. After trying several different combinations of different medications, Levi and his family realized that he would have to choose. Mental stability or stability of his powers. It was no surprise to his friends and family that Levi opted to go off his medication. Levi felt that it was more important to keep him from hurting others, than from himself. He learned that by doing things such as exercising and having close friends he could talk openly with, he could keep himself at least semi-stable.
Levi met Julia at the city park when he was jogging on morning. After five months they were married. A short while later, Julia gave birth to their son Isaiah. Although Levi still sometimes wrestled with his emotions, he was happy.
When Levi was thirty-four, he received a telephone call that his wife and son had been involved in a car accident. It was around Thanksgiving and Levi had left the family gathering by himself earlier in the day to get some extra sleep before work in the morning. He arrived at the hospital only to find that his wife and son were had already died. The following months were a very dark time for Levi. He blamed himself for their death, believing that if he had been driving they would not have died. For a while he had trouble keeping his power in check. He considered going back on medication, but feared that it would only make things worse. He tried returning to his old construction job and going on with his life, but everything reminded him of happier times. His family suggested he move and change his surroundings to help him recover. Remember his youth at Hammel, Levi decided to take a maintenance position there.
Levi has been at Hammel for around a year now keeping the grounds looking neat and clean, fixing any building for plumbing issues, and re-modeling any areas the administration felt needed it. He enjoys his work. But more than that, he enjoys being able to help young metas as they adjust to their powers. He’s not an official teacher or trainer, but tries to be there for them to talk with. Although he still struggles with his past and his emotions from time to time, his family was right about the change of scenery helping him to move forward.
Roleplay Example
Levi had been working all morning outside, mulching various areas of the grounds at Hammel. Even though it was a Saturday, Levi was feeling pretty manic so he was keeping fairly busy. He hadn’t slept the night before. Even though he wasn’t feeling tired, he knew he would need to force himself to sleep soon or his body would give up on him. He had debated hanging around the grounds for the rest of the day, but opted to head back to his apartment for a quick shower first. When he got there, he found his mother had left him a message on his machine. He knew she would worry if he didn’t get back to her, so he sank onto his couch and picked up the phone to call her.
“Levente?” his mother asked after the second ring.
“Yeah ma. I saw ya left me a message.” Levi smiled to himself; he could picture her having waiting near the phone the whole morning. Sometimes she could be such a worry wart.
“How are you, honey?”
“I’m fine ma, I was just out workin’ all mornin’,” Levi rose from the couch. He always had trouble sitting still when he was up.
“Are you remembering to sleep? You eatin’ enough?”
“Yeah ma. I’m fine. Listen, I was just about to hop in the shower. I’ll call you later, okay?” Although Levi loved his mother dearly, sometimes her constant checking up on his was a tad annoying. Also the shower was really calling his name.
“Sure, sweetie. You take care of yourself. I love you very much.”
“Love ya too mom,” Levi said and hung up the phone. Heading to the shower, he remembered he should eat something at some point.
