The Details
Hair Color: Dark brown
Eye Color: Brown
Any Piercings? Ears, nose
Any Tattoos? None
Any Scars? Nothing out of the ordinary.
General Appearance: Britt is a tall woman with an athletic build. She has a narrow chin, a high forehead, and a wide nose. Her skin is a tawny caramel color. Her almond-shaped eyes are a vivd brown and her brunette hair is typically worn long and straight.
Personality: Britt comes across as serious woman who is rarely caught joking with anyone other than her closest friends. She has a biting sense of humor and prefers handling strangers with a bit of sarcasm and general coldness. Her personal philosophy is simple: “If people can love me at my worst, then they’ll worship me when I’m on my best behavior.”
There is nothing black and white about Britt’s approach to life. She can be grave and light-hearted, emotionally strong and overly-sensitive. She will trade simplicity for complexity, and then exchange them once again when the mood strikes her.
Britt is intelligent in a way that is sometimes intimidating to others. She has a very effective way with words and never finds it challenging to express herself. That is, except when she is trying to recall her past. The biggest foil to her self-image is her power ---it causes great confusion for her and is the primary reason she’ll be caught stumbling over her words.

History
Britt was the second bundle of joy born to Victor and Mariana Betancourt of Harbor City, California. Victor was a longshoreman who spent long hours at the docks unloading ships. Mariana worked part-time as a nurse throughout the school district. They had the best little house they could afford on their blue collar income and took a yearly trip to Disneyland in the summer.
Vic was laid-off when Britt was around ten years old. Mariana went to work full-time when she could and seventeen-year-old Vin got an after-school job as a diner busboy to help with the bills. Vic’s ego was crushed. He took great pride in his role as a provider for the family and when he lost that, he lost a bit of himself, too. The man who had long been devoted to his family became a short-tempered and abusive alcoholic. A string of bad decisions led to his imprisonment when Britt was in middle school. Victor Betancourt died of an apparent drug overdose when Britt was twelve. The Betancourts believed Mariana was somehow responsible for Victor’s death and cut all ties with her and the children.
Or Vic died when he was driving while intoxicated. The car spun out of control in the rain and wrapped around a street lamp. He died on impact.
No, Vic committed suicide. He threw himself into the ocean late one night. His body washed ashore four days later.
Britt cannot recall the details surrounding her father’s death. He lost his job when she was ten and he died when she was twelve, around the same time she discovered her powers. Britt and her mother went to the hospital to visit Britt’s aunt and newborn cousin. She was overwhelmed with images sounds, and memories that did not belong to her. Britt passed out and woke up in a hospital bed. The physician attributed Britt’s loss of consciousness to dehydration. On the drive home, Britt told her mother what she experienced. Mariana, a deeply religious woman, believed Britt was receiving visions from God and directed her to the pastor at their church. The pastor agreed with Mariana and told her to keep an eye on Britt.
The visions were sporadic, some more clear than others, but Britt kept them to herself. During the summer before Britt was due to start high school, an older gentleman from an “alternative” school visited Britt and Mariana at their home. The gentleman convinced Mariana that it was part of God’s bigger plan for Britt who had been given a very special gift. Mariana reluctantly agreed to let her daughter attend Hammel Institute, provided she spent the summer holidays in California. Britt was the model student at Hammel and learned to control her retrocognition as best she could. She would have to live with a clouded memory and migraines, but she became used to it.
Britt attended UCLA and majored in English with a minor in Speech. She dreamed of becoming a teacher at Hammel Institute and applied as soon as she completed her degree. Helping the community by enforcing the law was her brother’s calling. Helping the community by giving students the ability to express themselves through nonviolent means was Britt’s. When Britt was twenty-six a position opened up for her to teach Speech at Hammel. She accepted the job and permanently relocated to Vermont.
Roleplay Example
A night time stroll through Diagon Alley was dangerous, and walking alone down Knockturn Alley was downright suicidal. Wendy Addams, who had spent too much of that past couple of months obeying every safety measure and taking every precaution since the attacks on the school was fed up. Whatever happens will happen she repeated to herself every step of the way.
All of the usual creeps occupied their favorite haunts: the hollow-faced women pacing up and down in their too-short skirts and worn-out high heels. A smile, a nod, a wink, and sold. Men whose visages were lined with age and ravaged by poor living stood in front of empty buildings with potions and tinctures inside their coats, waiting to cut a deal with anyone seeking a temporary escape.
Wendy stood yards away from Borgin and Burke's, pausing to look into the shop without being too obvious. Even a Hogwarts professor was not above suspicion these days. Her arms rested at her sides under her purple cloak as she cast a sidelong glance at the window.
"How about a palm reading for the pretty witch?" a scrawny man suggested, taking Wendy's hand into his own. His voice was smoky and his accent sounded French. He drew bone-thin fingers across her palm while he took a drag on his cigarette and then exhaled slowly. "I see a very rich husband in your future, a large home in the country, and---"
"That's not necessary, really," explained Wendy, her free hand grasping for the wand in her back pocket. She did her best to hide the terror she was about to be overcome with, but it was only too apparent by the way her hands were trembling.
