General Appearance:
Tree takes great pride in her completely inability to apply any makeup that needs any sort of precision, and the fact that she spent about 100 bucks for her whole wardrobe. Coming from a big family, Tree is used to wearing second hand clothes and developed a real knack for putting together outfits from charity stores. Tree is all about freedom of movement, so leans strongly towards loose, long skirts and midriff tops so she can hula hoop with ease, and Pat Benatar style velveteen hats. That’s not all she wears, of course, but her style is definitely distinctive.
Basically, she looks like a cross between a gypsy, a hippy, and a Rastafarian, and that’s ok with her.
Tree’s dreads are always changing, and she likes to wrap bits of coloured string and even thin chain around them to give them a bit of variation. One of them has her room key tied to it, and that’s ok too. Keeping them neat is harder then some might think, and they can be very VERY heavy when wet.
Tree’s parents moved to America from Hungary, and so Tree’s looks are pretty Germanic, and she’s about average hight at 5’6”. Being a vegetarian has helped Tree manage to avoid her ‘eat when you want to eat’ attitude from showing too much on her figure, but she does have a bit extra on her hips and tummy. It doesn’t bother her much, neither does the fact that while she doesn’t burn very easily, her skin refuses rather stubbornly to get any darker no matter how much sun she gets, while her brothers got all the Rom blood and go nice and dark quickly.
Given Tree has a habit of indulging in Mary Jane and alcohol on a fairly regular basis, its more normal then not to see her with sunglasses on to hide the evidence.
Personality: For someone who hates stereotypes, Tree falls into the ‘artist/musician’ category very easily. She’s flighty, and a nightmare to try and pin down, and is laid back to the point of her friends actively making her watch 10 minutes fast so she’s only fifteen minutes late to things. But whenever someone tries to confront her about it, her somewhat infuriating reaction is to just grin and tell them to chill.
Still, for all that, anyone who becomes friends with Tree, whether it’s because they’ve known her forever (she’s lived in the area since she was born) or because they’ve had the patience to wear down her initial coolness, she’s the sort of person you stay friends with. Always ready to spend a night in with a friend in need, a tub of ice cream and the new Dr Who DVD, or go roller blading in a warehouse full of squatters, whatever she feels like and other people she likes are doing.
If Tree feels you’re judging her without making an effort to know her, she can get distant fast, and wont bother with you again. Same if she feels you’re not being yourself. Still, even if your greatest interest is cultivating your herb garden, if you’re enthusiastic and genuine about it, chances are she might tell you you’re a bit of a strange fish but she’ll like you for it.
Just don’t get made if she doesn’t pick up her phone, chances are she’s out dancing or something and there’s no problem, because you should understand she’ll get to you, but now she’s having a good time. When Tree goes out, it tends to last a few days and involve a lot of trips between houses in the back of some friend’s van with a guitar digging into your hip and someone you just met pressed against your shoulder.
That being said, there is a serious side to her, and she occasionally turns into what her brothers affectionately call her ‘fragile buttercup‘ mode, where she feels a bit closed in and overwhelmed and just wants to go out to the park and get away from people for a bit with a hula hoop and a joint or two and a bottle of wine.

Strengths:
Music! Tree writes and sings her own stuff, and the feedback has been pretty positive
When she applies herself, she can manage pretty good grades
Very few things can really phase her, or freak her out
She can spread a dollar till it’s paper thin.
Her music theory teacher thinks if she ever actually tries on a paper she’d be top of her class.
Since she started taking live drawing classes when she was 13 (her dad’s idea), not only is she a pretty good sketcher, but nudity does not worry her in the least.
Weaknesses:
Tree has a habit of not talking to people she doesn’t know if her friends are around. It tends to make people feel she’s stuck up. She’s not, she just doesn’t know what to say.
It is really, really hard for her to be passionate about anything but playing music and drawing.
Her tone of voice doesn’t change much, making her sound bored or uninterested
She DOES get bored of people quickly if she feels obligated to talk to them
Her ideas of polite and not polite do not always match everyone else's; she has a habit of just bringing a few of her friends to a party only she was invited to, and honestly doesn’t see what the problem is.
YOU have to talk to HER first. She just doesn’t approach strangers.
Fears: What hard drugs can do if she accidentally gets hooked, or if her other brother does.
Secret: Tree’s oldest brother is a heroin addict. He’s gotten clean a bunch of times, but he’s relapsed. It makes her mom really sad, which gets to Tree a bit.
Family Ties
Father: Bernerd Roxenbough (60)
Mother: Triana Roxenbough (52)
Siblings: Leon Roxenbough (25) and Patrick Roxenbough (28)
Any Other Important People:Her parrot Pirate. He chews her earrings and likes bean sprouts but doesn’t talk.
History
Anita realized she hated her name when she was about 9, and watched West Side Story with her mom and Leon spent the next week singing about how he wanted to be in America. Her teacher had seemed pretty non-plused when she informed him that she was now called Tree Flower (because trees and flowers were pretty, duh) but the Roxenboughs were known for not exactly being the most conventional of families and by the next year, any of the kids who did talk to her had accepted that Tree was Tree, not Nita or Ann and especially not Anita. Her teachers thought it was a phase but Tree's parents knew their daughter. Still, they still called her Anita because it was a perfectly good name, after all.
Living in Vermont, you couldn't really avoid knowing people who were meta. Occasionally students would just stop turning up to class, and the teachers would say they'd transferred but were still nearby. She met her first meta properly when she was 15. He was a raccoon at the time and Tree had chased him up a tree when the raccoon turned into a rather disgruntled man called Michel.
Tree had a brief pang of disappointment when she reached 18 and realized that chances were she didn't have super powers, but as Michel had told her about the problems he had with bone density, she got over it.
Then, in her second year of college, studying Music Theory, someone blew up a building in her new town. That shit was intense. The whole meta movement seemed to be pretty intense, actually, and while Tree was totally for equal rights, and even went to marches with her parents when she went home to visit, sometimes she did get a bit jealous that she couldn't fly, or move water, or talk to trees.
But then she just reminds herself she'd have to focus on that instead of music and she gets over it pretty quickly.
