"Don't mention it," Riley said, happy to see his sister softening a little. He of course wasn't expecting anything more but the fact that she seemed like she was trying to open up was more than he could ask for. He had a lot of catching up to do and he intended on making good on his own word. He was going to make sure that Janice wouldn't be surprised or wary anymore when he did something good just for her.
Riley smiled at Janice's reasoning, blushing slightly when she 'reassured' him that he wasn't all that scary. He could be scary...somehow. Not that he wanted to. Not around Janice at least.
To be honest, had Janice said no to him coming back, Riley would have had a meltdown right then and there. Well, not really but he would be very upset. He had just gotten his family back, the ones who actually cared that he existed [or was coming to terms with that anyway]. He wasn't going to lose them again. No way.
Which garnered a huge smile from Riley when Janice looked at him with her big eyes, asking if he would be around for Christmas. "Of-of course. Of course! I wouldn't miss it for the world. I will be here for Christmas, for Thanksgiving, for you birthday, for mom's birthday. I will be here. I will." He nodded enthusiastically before pulling Janice in a tight hug.
"Thank you. I...thank you, Janey. I couldn't have asked for a better sister." He said quietly before standing up and holding a hand out for Janice to take. "Come on, I don't want mom to worry. I told her I was getting you back. And I've got you now...so...let's go home shall we?"
