It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and Leila wanted to stop by and see a friend. She'd picked up a book for Riley a few weeks back--it was on bird calls, she'd seen it on sale at the book store and thought he might like it--and hadn't had a chance to give it to him yet. Since she had the time and the desire now, she decided to go ahead and stop by.
Thankfully she knew where to go, since she'd already been to his place for the New Year's Eve Party...was that half a year ago already? Clearly she needed to stop by more often.
She also picked up a 2-liter bottle of lemonade for them to split. She trusted Riley to have some sort of baked goods on hand, and if he didn't, well, they could always make something.
So she rang the doorbell and rocked happily forward on her toes and back on her heels, smiling broadly.
"Hello, Riley!" she said when he answered the door. She stepped forward and wrapped him in a big hug. The effect was actually quite comical--she was a bright, tiny blond woman hugging what might appear on first glance to be a large teddy bear.
"I brought you a present, and some lemonade!" Dancing inside, she handed him the book and set the lemonade down on the table. "How's everything been going? I haven't seen you in simply ages. We should hang out more. And maybe you could come visit me in the office sometimes. Cobalt's all stuffy, and Ben's no fun to pick on anymore. He just doesn't realize I'm teasing him most of the time." She pouted slightly before perking up.
"So, what have you been doing lately? Any good baking?" She made herself comfortable, sitting down in the living room on the couch.
She is Leila B. Gold, and she does what she wants to and goes where she pleases. God save us all.
