Two and a Half Men - Tags Danny

Spending practically a whole day with Griff and Gladys two days ago had been absolutely fun, despite that one very, very awkward moment. But Griff was so gracious about it; he simply didn't allow Riley to feel at all awkward.

But today was to be spent with Danny. Riley had brought with him some dishes he thought Danny would like so they didn't have to leave the man's house for the day. Riley was excited to be spending time with Danny, unsurprisingly. The excitable younger man made him smile just as much as Griff did.

Dressed in a blue checkered button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up over a greyfitting t-shirt with his light brown jacket and jeans, Riley walked up to Danny's apartment with his bag of food, eager to feed his friend.

Knocking on the door, he waited for Danny to answer.

Danny had attempted to clean the apartment. It wasn’t working too well. There was a lot of clay…everywhere. He didn’t get how it had gotten there. The apartment had been so clean when he’d arrived! He’d gotten everything organized exactly how he wanted, he’d gotten new furniture which wasn’t covered in clay, and everything had been great.

And then he’d gotten busy, and sculpting had taken up more time, and he’d started hanging out with people outside of his apartment…and suddenly, he had a bunch of stuff all over the place and clay in the oven and on the tables and…well, it was a mess. He’d managed to scrub some of it out and get rid of most of the hot glue that was everywhere, but it was still messy, and he was still working on it by the time Riley knocked on the door. He blinked and pushed up his glasses, then darted to the mirror.

Why had he done that? He changed directions mid-stride and instead made it to the door, offering Riley a grin as he rubbed a hand through his hair, trying to make it lie flat, but without success. He pushed up his glasses and beamed up at the tall man.

“Riley! Great to see you! Come inside—I’ve got your candle holder all baked and glazed and such, and it looks great! Um.” He coughed. “Even though my apartment doesn’t. Come in!” He stepped aside. “What have you been up to?”

Riley didn't have any sort of expectation when it came to people's houses. Just because he couldn't stand his own apartment being cluttered [due to years of cultivating that behaviour in his life], didn't mean he had any qualms about it in other people's homes. And really, he had seen worst.

"Good to see you too, Danny. And that sounds wonderful." He leaned forward and wrapped his free hand around the younger man's shoulder in a hug before stepping in as offered. He turned to close the door behind him and held the bag up to Danny with a grin. "I brought food. I hope you don't mind."

He stepped further into the apartment and shrugged amiably. "Nothing much, really. I had a lazy morning." He chuckled before turning to Danny. "How've you been?"

Danny was always very happy with the contact. Of course he was. His best friend was a man who didn’t like personal contact all that much—or, who he kind of persuaded to have some touching involved. So he returned the hug with a grin and closed the door behind him once he made it in.

“Oh, you brought food!” he eyed the bag. He’d been stuck inside of his apartment for most of the week, and the thought of eating something that he hadn’t cooked—because it all involved rice—sounded amazing. Beyond amazing. Amazingly excellent. Yeah. “Thank you so much.” He smiled up at him, then waved him over to the table, which had dried and now looked artsy (covered in the different colored clays and paints as it was) rather than messy. He pulled out a chair for Riley before settling down in his own.

“I’ve been great,” he chirped. “Not a lot of stuff going on, but I had a big model to finish, and someone’s coming to pick it up from New York later. I think that’ll be great. Lazy mornings are nice! Has work been okay?”

"Yes I did!" Riley grinned, glad for Danny's enthusiasm. He made the right decision, it seemed. His eyes roamed the apartment and found a smattering of pictures on the wall, which he would give a closer inspection later. But because Danny had invited him to sit, Riley did just that. "Oh it's my pleasure. I figured we could just eat in."

He sat at the table, his fingers running over the surface. "I'm guessing you did all this by yourself?" Riley smiled warmly, looking up at Danny with mild reverence. He wasn't sure he could have done anything as creative as this unless they involved flowers.

"That's exciting! I might have something for you to work on once I'm finished with my latest job." Riley nodded, excited to work with Danny once again. "Work's been good. I've been kept busy, for sure. I'm working on three at the moment. Thank God Rina's still sticking around. She helped me delegate the work amongst my colleagues so I don't have much to worry about."

He shook his head in amusement. "You didn't need to hear all that. Um...I don't mean to be nosy but...may I?" He asked, gesturing to the photo collage on the wall.

“That’s fine!” Danny grinned, relieved that he’d cleaned up after all. If he hadn’t, he would have been rushing around trying to find a clean seat for Riley to sit on. Maybe he should get a studio—like a real one. Or rent a room in one. He hadn’t realized that working in his apartment was going to be so messy. He’d always worked on the sets before…

He was surprised by the way Riley looked up at him, and shrugged, blushing a bit. “Oh, well, yes. But not really on purpose, you see. I just started sculpting and painting and forgot to put down a tarp. So as a result…” he gestured to the table, then shifted a little. “Do you like it?”

“That’d be great!” he had enough to keep himself afloat, but it was always good to have more work, and he really liked working with Riley. “But who’s Rina? Is she your partner or something in the business?” He didn’t remember the name. “But I like hearing about it, really! I like knowing what’s going on in your life.” Too strong? Too…everything? His smile turned embarrassed, and he ducked his head to push up his glasses when Riley spoke.

“Go ahead! You’re not nosy at all.” He smiled at him, instantly cheered. “I have them on the wall, right? They’re there to be looked at. Enjoy. Want me to put away anything?” He motioned to the bag.

Danny's downplaying of his talents made Riley more certain of his feelings for the man. He was so humble despite not really having reason to be! Especially not when it came to what he enjoyed doing. He nodded at Danny's question. "I really do." Riley smiled widely.

"Oh! You haven't met Rina, have you? She's my right hand." Riley explained with a sense of pride. "I tell you, I wouldn't be where I am now if she hadn't stuck around." Rina, along with his mother and large parts, Michael had helped Riley with the flourishing of his business. Had they not been around, Riley wouldn't have had the encouragement he needed to make it successful. He owed so much to them.

"You'll have to meet her one day. I've spoken so much about you to her." Riley didn't realise what his statement might entail because he was just being truthful. The landscaper beamed at Danny's remark about wanting to know about him. "Well, thank you. I love my job, if you couldn't tell." He chuckled lightly, running his fingers through his hair.

With a soft thanks, Riley stood up and went over to the wall. "Oh you can take whatever you want from the bag." Riley smiled at Danny over his shoulder before returning to the wall. There was a bunch of him working on models, and some signed pictures of famous people and some with him in full Jewish garb. But the one that captured Riley attention was the one where Danny was holding a trophy with a banner in the background that said "Annual Ballroom Dancing Competition 1980".

"You danced, Danny?" Riley grinned softly, his eyes closed as he remembered how Michael and he used to dance. It wasn't anything professional but Riley could definitely remember how happy he had been every time he did.

“Thanks, then.” Danny smiled at him, pushing up his glasses as he looked up. “If…if you’d like, I could do something like it for you, too. Only, you know, more…” He eyed the table, then chuckled. “Planned? I’d like to do that.”

He hadn’t met Rina, but he nodded. “I see! She sounds very cool.” He grinned back at him, happy to see him looking so…happy. He really did like his job, didn’t he? He was definitely going to ask more about it, then, just to see that look on his face. “I’d like to meet her. But three projects? That’s hard.” His features tugged into an expression of sympathy. “But are they going well, at least?”

And then the other part caught up, and Danny brightened considerably. He’d spoken to her about him? Really? That was…great.

“Okay!” As Riley went to the wall, Danny set to taking the items out of the bag and setting them up in no particular order, but just however he felt like it, and whistling a bit absently. He looked up when Riley spoke, and blinked, pushing up his glasses before crossing over to him to see what he was looking at. His eyes widened as he saw the picture—which involved him with his hair stuck to his forehead from sweat, but a large grin on his face, and a pretty brunette who was just barely shorter than him standing next to him—and he laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.

“Oh, yeah. Haven’t in a while, I guess. But yeah! I took some classes in high school and then in college. I liked it.” he glanced over at him and smiled. “What about you? Do you dance?”

Riley's smile slowly grew wider as Danny offered to do something for him. He was very flattered Danny wanted to do it for him so who was he to turn the man down? "Thank you, Danny. That would be a great idea." He nodded.

"She really is." Riley smiled. Rina had become more like a sister than anything else. Even Janice had taken to her, quickly too. They'd definitely spent a lot of holidays together, Rina with her military husband and their three kids. "Oh it's not really hard. Rina and I worked out a schedule and she did a really good job with assigning everyone jobs so we're good." Riley shrugged with a huge grin. "They really are going great. Thanks." He reached out and patted Danny's hand.

Turning fully to see an embarrassed Danny, Riley smiled, so charmed by the younger man's bashfulness. Bowing his head slightly with a gentle smile, Riley shook his head. "Not at the professional level. I'm much too big and lumpy to be so graceful. I used to dance with my ex." The memories of those happy moments in the rain with his Debbie Reynolds flooded through his mind. For once in a really long time, no tears came.

Blinking up with a smile, Riley looked at Danny. "Teach me how to dance?"

“Oh, good.” Danny’s smile flickered into a much more relieved one, and he nodded, then blushed. “I mean…well, I hope you’ll like it once it’s done.”

He liked how Riley smiled when he mentioned the woman who worked for him, and he nodded. “That’s really cool, Riley. I’m glad it’s working out, and she sounds amazing, like I said before.” When Riley patted his hand, he was hard-pressed not to turn it over and just take Riley’s. He could do that with Cobalt and it would be just a comforting gesture, but with Riley…no, he couldn’t have it be that. Even if Riley didn’t take it that way, he wasn’t so sure that he…oh, never mind. He wasn’t going to think or worry about it. Not if he wanted to stay sane.

He smiled up at Riley as he came over to the pictures, then shook his head. “Oh, no, not at all! One of my favorite dancers was your height! Besides, I didn’t dance professionally either. This was just a friendly competition, for amateurs for the most part. But it was a lot of fun.”

He blinked when Riley looked over at him, and he rubbed his hand through his hair again. “Um.” His smile turned sheepish. “Yeah. Want to try…now? I’ve got some music and stuff.”

"I'm going to love it, I'm sure of it. You're amazing, I'm not at all worried about how it would turn out." Riley smiled warmly, suddenly remembering the kiss he had shared with Griff just two days ago. He turned his bottom lip into his mouth, trying to capture the taste of the younger man's lips again. And now looking at Danny, he was reminded of what he felt in addition to the feelings that sort of overwhelmed him when he was with Griff too.

Blinking the thoughts away, Riley nodded and smiled at Danny's praise of Rina. He was oblivious to Danny's desire to hold his hand and if he had gone through with it, Riley would not have protested. At all. He didn't know what it was about Danny, or Griff, but any sort of physical gesture either one made on Riley, the landscaper would have melted under, he was sure.

"Oh, I'm sure he wasn't built like a truck." Riley was not at all conscious of his weight but he was aware he was bigger than the average man his age. His imposing height did nothing to deter anyone from that fact.

His smile softened when Danny agreed to the impromptu dance lesson. He watched as Danny fiddled with his music and approached the smaller man a bit shyly. He hadn't done this in awhile. He just hoped he didn't step on Danny's foot too much.

“You flatter me too much.” Danny was aware of the fact that he was blushing scarlet. “C’mon, I want to make sure you DO like it. I’ll give you a sketch, please? Otherwise it wouldn’t be…um…good.” He was distracted by the way that Riley had sucked on his lip, and blushed again and ducked his head. No. That was a bad thing to notice, very bad. Riley probably didn’t think about him that way.

“You’re not built like a truck!” he was grateful to latch on this as a distraction. “What makes you think you are? You’re be—wonderful!” Beautiful probably wasn’t the right thing to say either. What was he, fourteen? He could do better than that. Here.” Once he’d put in the right music, he held out his hand to Riley as it started.

“Why don’t we try the quickstep?” he asked. “Normally, since you’re taller, I’d make you lead, but since I’m the teacher, I’ll lead for a while.” He placed his hand high up on Riley’s waist, then settled his hand in his grip and Riley’s on his shoulder. He swallowed, then forced himself to relax. It wasn’t like he hadn’t done this before? So he smiled up at Riley instead. “Know any of this dance? It’s pretty easy. Just follow my lead, and don’t worry about your feet too much. You’re gonna be fine.”

"Hardly. I'm just stating a fact." His smile widened at Danny's insistence on giving him a rough sketch before doing anything. Letting out a soft chuckle, Riley nodded. "Okay, if you insist." Had Riley known the reason behind Danny's blush, Riley would have reassured him that yes, Danny...Riley definitely thought about you that way.

Even with his cheeks heating up at the compliment, Riley tried hard not to blurt out anything stupid as he took his jacket and button down shirt off, revealing his light green fitting tee to show Danny what made him think he was built like a linebacker. "I've sort of always been big. I don't mind, I'm quite comfortable with being...big." He gave Danny a sheepish grin, rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment. He didn't even register Danny's slip-up.

He accepted the offered hand and shivered slightly when Danny placed his hand rather strategically on Riley's waist. His breath caught in his throat as he tried to remember he had both right and left feet. "Um...I think I do? It's the slow, slow, quick, quick count right?" Riley chuckled in embarrassment. He had seen far too many dance movies for his own good.

He tried not to look at his feet too much and followed Danny's lead. "I'm sorry in advanced if I step on your feet."

“Well thank you,” he mumbled, looking all embarrassed again. It was sweet that Riley thought he actually had artistic talent, and trusted him enough. He smiled at Riley instead and just made a mental promise that it was going to be the best table he could possibly make. That he was determined to do.

Danny’s eyes widened as he took off the jacket and the button down shirt, mostly because he was surprised by it. He hadn’t been expecting him to do that. But he still didn’t think that Riley was big like he seemed to think it was. “All right,” he said slowly. “But I think it…that it doesn’t look bad. Not at all.” He smiled up at him.

Danny did notice that shiver under his hand, and he cleared his throat and pushed up his glasses, a little nervous, then nodded. “Yup. That’s the one.” At this rate, he was more likely to step on Riley’s feet than Riley was to step on his. He smiled at him and just swayed along with the dance, then laughed.

“You’re doing fine.”

And then he hesitated. Well…it was now or never.

“Riley,” he said, looking up at him through his thick-rimmed glasses, appearing both nervous and…embarrassed? Hopeful? It was hard to say. “I, um…I like you, Riley. A lot.”

Without the added layers of his outer clothes, Riley was very sensitive to touches. And touches from the younger man that he was extremely attracted to most certainly did not help that sensitivity.

He was glad that Danny was willing to excuse Riley's awkwardness while dancing and his reassurances helped put the gentle giant much at ease. So much so that the man's confession didn't register at first.

But the insistence in Danny's voice drew Riley to the fact that Danny was telling him that he liked him. Like...liked him. A lot, even. The urge to kiss the smaller man was overwhelming and Riley was reminded once more of his kiss with Griff.

Looking down at Danny, Riley smiled nervously and uttered a response softly. "I like you too, I really like you." He gulped inaudibly before using one hand to pull Danny's face up. Maybe...maybe if he kissed Danny and if he didn't feel the same, he would have his answer.

But...but what if he felt the same? Worst, what if he felt stronger about Danny than he did Griff?

Without further thinking, he swooped down and pressed his lips on Danny's, slowly melting against the kiss. And much like how soft and gentle it felt with Griff, this kiss was equally as simple and sweet. This. was. so. confusing.
