A Plastic Apology [Moemoe]

Vincent had been thinking about this for a while. Ever since his short-lived breakup with Moe, he'd realized that he couldn't live without the pretty little Japanese boy. Misato made him happy, made him want to be a better person without trying to change him, and was more than willing to forgive him. Vincent never thought he'd find that kind of unconditional love and had never felt it himself, but he'd do anything and everything in his power to make Moe happy.

It had been difficult lately. After the fiasco at the Sex Talk with Mia and Zac, there had been a dramatic change in Misato. Vin wasn't shocked, it had really hurt Moe to be betrayed like that, and he had been at a loss for how to make things better. (At least in ways that didn't involve damaging Zac and Mia's faces.) He wasn't good with words and he didn't know how to comfort Moe other than holding him and telling him he loved him.

There was only one other think he could think to do and it was the something he'd actually been planning since before their breakup. Unfortunately, it was a very expensive something and as we all know, Vincent's income is a little shaky. At least now he's got a job... but we all know how badly that goes; my apologies to Josh. Still, the wad of wrinkled bills stuffed under the mattress was not yet enough, but Vin didn't want to wait anymore.

He had a substitute, as cheesy as it was, and it was being held tightly in his hand as he sat on the couch and stared at the door to the apartment, waiting for Moe to come home from his visit with Fifi.

There had been a lot of crying and revelations in the past handful of hours, and Moe felt exhausted from it. What Fifi had told him was a surprise, yes, but there was no way he'd ditch her for her mistakes. She was his greatest friend, and he wouldn't ruin that. He'd trudged home with messed up makeup and an arm full of books, and ignored any looks he'd received.

He hadn't needed to take his house keys with him, since Vin had his day off and he'd been spending a stupid amount of time taking care of him - something Moe didn't believe he deserved. Opening the door with a little click, he pushed inside and started when he saw Vin staring right at him. Oh god. Had he seen the transfer forms up on the laptop? He was going to talk with him about it and everything!

Nervously, he set the books down on the table and scooped up Sulphur, who was wagging eagerly around his feet. "Hi." He said quietly, offering a tiny smile as his face was washed by a happy dog tongue. "What's wrong?" He added tentatively, creeping over to the couch and setting down beside his boyfriend.

Sitting upright once Moe walked in the door, Vincent's clenched fist tightened almost instinctively. He was nervous, which was actually a rather foreign feeling for him. He didn't get butterflies in his stomach, he didn't get anxious, he'd never felt anything like that until Moe came into his life. But this was serious, it was big, and Vincent wanted to do it right. Moe deserved at least that.

"Hey." He replied, patting the couch next to him indicating he wanted Moe to come sit by him. "Nothin's wrong... I don' think." He looked around. "I dinnit set nothin' on fire when y'was gone." Because yes, that is a legitimate concern when one leaves Vincent to his own devices.

He grinned his normal crooked grin when Moe sat down next to him, biting on the inside of his cheek as he looked at his boyfriend. He looked tired and his makeup was smudged, but in Vin's eyes he was still beautiful. He lifted his hand and wiped away the mascara that was smudged under the pixie's eyes, then gently kissed him. "I... uh... well y'see I kinda wanted t'ask ya summat, an'... don' get mad 'f it's not what y'want, kay? I jus'... I dinnit have enough t'buy it righ'." He looked down at his closed hand, shaking his head and trying to steal himself for asking something he never thought he'd ask in his entire life. Or at least while meaning it.

"I love ya, Moemoe. An' I know'm not really smart or good at things. I get 'n trouble a lot an' sometimes I embarrass ya, but ya don'... y'still love me even though 'm loud an' shit. An' I don' care what anyone thinks, y'perfec' an' I ain' ever gunna leave ya side. So... Moe? Would... would ya marry me?" He finally unfolded his hand and revealed the plastic ring he'd been grasping so hard that it left an impression in his palm.

Seeing Vincent nervous was almost frightening for Moe. He was such a confident, arrogant guy that to see a chink in his armour made the tiny brunette fret that something bad was going to happen. He pressed his fingers together and then managed a tiny giggle when he said he didn't set fire to anything. "Good, because I can't afford to replace the curtains again." He smiled weakly, hands smoothing over Sulphie's fur.

"Huh?" He breathed, looking somewhat perplexed but somewhat relieved when the trademark Vin-Grin returned to his boyfriend's face. "You haven't bought a monster truck, have you?" He winced. That was definitely something he didn't want, and if there were parts of a scrappy big wheeler in a scrapyard somewhere, then the poor teen was going to facepalm so hard it hurt. He did peek over at Vin's hand - something important was clearly in it. "Because I ... I love you but I don't think a monster truck is a good id-"

Vin's next words stopped him in his tracks, and he smiled brighter. "I love you too, Vinvin." He chirruped, setting Sulphie down on the floor and kissing Vin tenderly. But then the words kept coming and the boy's eyes widened. "Vincent." He whispered, looking down at the plastic ring, then back up into his boyfriend's face. He suddenly felt all tingly and warm, as though he were in a bath after a cold day. "Yes. Yes a thousand times." He squeaked.

Throwing his arms around his boyfriend fiance he giggled and planted kisses all over his face. At seeing his masters looking so happy, the bull terrier began running around yipping. "It's a cute ring." Moe added softly, linking his fingers with Vin's own. "I'll have to get you one too." Suddenly all the problems of the last few weeks melted away, because the man he loved wanted to marry him. Wanted to be with him always. And together they'd be okay, he was sure of it. Moe's face lit up into the brightest smile he'd worn for over a year.

Things were going to be okay.

Vincent squirmed uncomfortably on the couch in the pause between his question and Moe's answer. Moe deserved so much better than a plastic ring and Vincent had all the intentions of buying him a proper engagement ring, he just hoped that this would be good enough for now. He bit on his piercings while he waited for an answer, cringing when his name was spoken. Moe was going to say no and he should have expected it.

Except not.

Moe launched himself at him with his answer and Vincent's grin grew so large it seemed his head might split open. He folded his arms around Moe, laughing at the kisses that were scattered over his face. "Really? Really, yeah?" He almost couldn't believe it as he buried his face into Moe's little shoulder. "I love ya so much!" And he did, he really did. Moe was everything.

"I'm gunna getcha a real ring. Promise." He nodded. "I jus' can' 'ford it righ' now. But but I promise 's gunna be big an' everythin' thatcha deserve!" He slid the plastic placeholder onto Moe's finger, then kissed it. "At leas' everyone's gunna know thatcha all mine an' we gunna live hap'ly ever after an' all that shit." He lifted his hands to cup Moe's face and looked at him seriously. "I ain' never wanna be wif anyone butchu fer th'res' of m'life, Moe." Awww, how touching.

"... an' dude, can I really get a monster truck?!"

Well, that didn't last long.

Suddenly the week's woes and dilemmas had been blown away. Moe could only keep repeating in his head that he was going to be Mr. Misato Verax sometime in the future. He was going to get married to his first love and it was going to be beautiful. He was already thinking of venues, who to invite and where they should get their first proper house. He had such a dreamy expression on his face that he didn't even hear Vin questioning him.

"Huh? I love you too!" He squeaked, curling his arms around Vin, then kissing him slowly. With delight he looked down at his finger and wiggled it. The pink heart was so cute, and it didn't matter that it wasn't platinum or gold, it was the meaning behind it that was important. "I don't want big." He said softly, lifting Sulphie back onto the sofa and nosing the pup. "Did you hear that? We're going to be a proper family!" He said delightedly to the dog, who wagged furiously and started licking Vin's nose.

"I..." Moe began, happy with the little group on the sofa. "I already know what ring I want to buy you but I need a job first." He nodded quietly, then planted a soft kiss on Vin's shoulder. "I needed this." He added quietly, staring up at his fiance with big doe eyes. He really did. He had even been willing to leave his dream flat and his dream man behind to escape the Hammel misery, and now he had 1000 more reasons to stay.

...

"No. You can't." Moe said with a pout, drawing back and fixing the sad-disapproving look on his beau, before fishing out his phone. "We should call everyone to let them know the good news!" He hesitated then. "Um... Daddy might be kind of mad." And by kind of Moe means a lot mad. Because we all know Moe's dad thinks Vincent is the worst possible man for his little boy. "But I can call Fifi! And Dani! And ... I think Dr. Campbell might want to know, he's always so nice to me."

He paused with his fingers on the keypad. "I'm going to be your husband!" He said, beaming from ear to ear.

Vincent lifted his hands to Sulphie's face, rubbing the happy dog's ears as he got his face washed. "Yeah, y'xcited too?" Vin never thought he could be so happy to be tied down, but being with Moe made him happy. Knowing he'd always come home to him, knowing that Moe was all his, that was worth it.

He grabbed Sulphie in one arm and Moe in the other, pulling the pretty little pixie onto his lap, then setting the puppy on Moe's lap. This was perfect. This was really all he needed. "'m sorry 'bout 'verythin'. But jus'... y'know, screw LaDouche an' Mia-th'-bitch. Not... like... literally. Jus' like.. who cares what th'fuck they do, righ'? They're fuckin' dicks an' not th'good kind, so jus'... ferget 'em. Ya got me an' ya got Sulphsters an' all them chicks gotcha back too." Moe did have good friends, especially Fifi and Dani, and Vin knew that Moe was strong enough to pull through this.

Of course then Moe had to drop the "Dad" bomb and suddenly Vincent looked worried. Moe's dad hated him with a fiery passion, Vinnie knew this. (It was kind of hard not to, he'd talked to Moe's parents before and was told just as much.) "Do... uh... w'really gotta tell 'im? Can't it jus' b'a surprise all 'Oh hay dad I'm married!' or somethin'?" He was looking rather hopeful, though he knew that the chances of Moe keeping his engagement a secret were about as good as Sammy giving up pot.

"Butcha can tell all yer friends! An' w'can rub it 'n Zac's smarmy fugly face. An' I gotta tell Charmander an' Floppy an' ELI an' Dr. N an' Chase an' EV'RYONE!" Yes, Vincent was going to brag about this to anyone with ears, or anything with ears.

Moe giggled as the little pup continued washing Vincent's face, unable to stop smiling. They really were going to be a family. All they needed was the kids and the people wagon and they'd be completely suburban. Not that Moe could imagine Vin in his leather pants down at the country club. He gave another soft laugh.

"Don't be sorry, Vinvin, it wasn't your fault." Moe said gently, tucking up with his man and his dog on the sofa. "I'm sorry I didn't believe you. I should have." He added, pressing a kiss to Vin's cheek. He then ruffled Sulphie's cone-pointed head and then leapt up. "This calls for a celebration!" He grinned, hurrying to the kitchen and getting out a bottle of fizz from the cupboard. They'd definitely have to order in from that posh takeout tonight.

Returning back to Vin with a glass of sparkling wine, he clinked glasses with him and then frowned a little. "Daddy has to know." He knew his dad didn't like Vincent one iota, least of all the idea of him marrying his little boy. "If we don't tell him now, he'll just be more mad." He perked up. "Maybe Ma will pick up the phone, that'll make things easier." He sipped his alcohol and took a deep breath. "I want everyone to know I'm yours." He added in a low, flirtatious voice.

"Why have you got to tell Chase?" Moe asked rather curiously - not that he minded. "I don't think he'd really care about us getting engaged." He paused then, and giggled. "I'll have to find a dress!" Fifi and him could go dress shopping, and surely now Dani had her new job in the town she could widdle him a discount on some pretty lingerie.

When Moe came back into the living room with the glasses, Vin just laughed. Wine wasn't really his deal, but if it made Moe happy, then they could have their little toast. "T'gettin' married!" He said proudly, squeezing Moe into a hug and downing his glass in one go.

Vincent continued his frown when Moe insisted on telling his parents. "He migh'... like... try t'kill m'through th'phone." Vin didn't know if that was even possible, but considering how much hatred the man harbored for him, he expected the worst. Flames might come shooting out of the speaker or something. "Fine, y'can tell 'im, but I ain' wanna b'in th'same room." Or near the phone. At all.

Of course, then Moe had to say something that made Vincent smirk. "Y'all mine, babe. An' ev'ryone's gunna know it." He walked his fingers up Moe's thigh and moved his eyebrows suggestively. "An' I know one way t'prove it." He said in a low voice, right against Moe's ear. Yes, we all know what he's thinking, and Moe will probably indulge him. You know, Misato, he will never learn if you keep doing that.

"He'd totally wanna know!" No, he wouldn't, but as often as Vincent bothers his trainer, there's no way he's not going to brag about his recent engagement. "An' 'm sure ya'll have th'prettiest weddin' dress ever. 'Cause you'll b'in it an' that'll make any dress pretty." He said confidently, his sneaking hand working it's way higher up Moe's thigh.

If they'd had a bottle of Sake (Moe only wished they were old enough to procure something that wasn't smuggled down Vin's pants or obtained via fake ID) then Moe would have been stupidly happy. They could have gotten all pink and merry and had a grand evening together calling everyone they knew. "To us~" He said sweetly, taking a sip and wiggling his nose, before setting the glass back down on the table.

"No no no. He wont, I promise." The boy pleaded, curling his arms around Vin's neck and eskimo kissing him. He offered an honest smile, then went to pull up his phonebook on his phone. "But how about I don't call him first?" He said, willing to compromise for Vincent's happiness. Okay he knew his dad wanted to roast Vincent on a spit and dance like a maniac while chanting. But his daddy HAD to know eventually, else he'd just get more mad. "I'll hold your hand." He added softly.

Then of course, Vin's mind dropped into the sewer and Moe giggled, grabbing the offensive hand and sliding it all the way back down. "Not until after phone calls." He said stubbornly, though having to avoid a very needy shiver that crept down his spine. "Then yes. And we can order in and we can spend our first night together as fiances!"

Wiggling off of Vin's lap and sprawling out on the sofa, Moe seized his glass in one hand, and phone in the other. "Mmkay, who should I call first? Dr. Campbell? Fifi? Dani? What about Ann?" He looked slightly nervous. "They're going to think it's silly, aren't they?" He added with a tiny pout, nose wrinkled. He didn't want them to think he was silly. He wanted everyone to be as blissfully happy as he was right now.
