A week's worth of build up(news coverage, on-site reporters, and plenty of other stuff) and Irene made three landfalls. North Carolina, New Jersey, and New York all got a direct hit, but none were as bad as it could've been. Just imagine if Hurricane Irene had been stronger(Charlie), or carried a bigger storm surge(Katrina). The east coast had gotten lucky this time. Well, kind of lucky anyway.
Parts of Virginia were still under water that was waist-deep or more. The Connecticut River had just crested a put Middletown, CT underwater as well. Through all this, Cole was unable to help. However, a couple of days ago, after Irene's landfall in Jersey, Cole began to set a plan into motion. He talked to his boss that day about hosting a relief effort concert. His boss agreed and began to set everything up.
Open to the entire community that were sixteen or older. The prices were reasonable: Five dollars to get in, burgers and chips for seven bucks, hot dogs and chips for six. Sodas were a dollar-twenty-five. All profits from the concert went to a care package that when put in order would make its way to the hardest hit areas of flooding and wind damage.
The concert itself was put off until the rain from Irene's remnants had pushed the north and the weather was clear. Cole's last two paychecks had gone into helping set it up and getting his bandmates to Pilot Ridge. It was surreal playing with them. It was actually the first time he'd seen any of them since he'd moved to Vermont. Cole had plenty of help, though, his parents had finished moving to Pilot Ridge themselves. His dad had decidedly helped them get hold of a stage and Cole had borrowed the club's sound system.
His guitar was already there and his bandmates had brought their instruments as well. Everyone had what they needed and the venue chosen (The Mall's parking lot) was large enough to support the entire community's attendance if need be. The stage was set back onto the sidewalk along the front face of the building allowing the majority of people to fit comfortably in the parking lot.
As for how many people would show up, Cole was unsure. They would have to wait and see. He knew plenty of people were coming from Hammel, but was unsure who else would show up. He knew who he didn't want to show up there, that much was clear. The blonde demon haunted his past and was trying her damndest to haunt his present.

Cole stood behind a trailer adjacent the stage smoking a cigarette, calming his nerves. The stitched wound on his head poking out barely beneath his hat as it was pulled down over his eyes, shielding his slate-blue eyes from the light of the sunset. Soon, the lot would be full, he and his friends would be on stage and hopefully, they would rock Pilot Ridge.
James Bothen, his best friend since childhood, came around the trailer, "Yo, Kess, we gonna get this started?"
"Gimme a sec, Jim-Bo," Cole said using the nickname he'd made for his friend, "Let's get soundcheck started." Cole said as they walked around the trailer and up onto the stage. Already, people had began to park in the lot, trying to get the closest spot so they wouldn't have to walk far to get to the stage.
Within another hour, Cole's band would be ready to play. Now, would be the time for anyone and everyone to show up.
