Afternoon Out| Abigail

The mall was busy today, seeing as it was so cold. Or at least, to the girl standing there it was cold. She had a dislike for such chilly winds, but of couse she couldn't really do anything about it. She just had to deal. But that was okay. Back to the people, who were many. Her olive eyes followed them as they walked around. People were fun to watch, because each one was different but what they said when they moved and spoke was always the same. Everything was identifiable. She sighed.

In her hand was a steaming drink, chai tea latte to be exact. Yes, she had been to Starbucks. This girl, though she loved coffee, wouldn't touch coffee from Starbucks even if she was paid to. But the tea was good, so she was happy. Her style of clothing was drawing stares from a few people, because she wore a mix of silken grey and amber orange. What, she liked bright color! Deidra smiled and waved when someone stared for too long, and a few times thought about going to talk to people. She loves meeting new people.

Of course, she was waiting here for a friend, so she couldn't just wander off on her own like she would like to. It took quite a bit of concentration for her not to just slip into whatever random group of people slipped by her. She always did that. But no, Deidra really didn't want Abigail to think she had ditched her. Abigail had been at Hammel for two years, and she and Deidra had become quite good friends in that time.

The short, dark skinned girl smiled as she looked around. It was really quite nice here today despite all the people. Thanksgiving was in a few days and she was very excited for that. She would get to see ALL of her siblings and family then. It would be great.

I wonder where Abigail went off too? she thought to herself, accent ringing in her own mind. She just shrugged slightly and walked over to the waterfall to sit on the edge and throw in some coins. Abigail would still be able to see her, but she would also be able to enjoy the watersounds.

Abbey didn’t mind that the mall was crowded. It was cold out, and the mall was warm. Plus the mall had pretty clothes and shiny new jewelry to look through. She was in need of some new shirts. Quite a few of them were starting to get a little tight across her chest. Oh the pains of being a teenage girl. Also she was meeting up with one of her favorite people, Deidra. They had become friends rather quickly since they both came to Hammel. Abbey hurried along through the mall. She had already left the dorms a good ten minutes late, then her stop at Starbucks had set her back another five.

The pumpkin spice latte was worth it though. Hurrying through the mall, she tried not to bump into anyone. It would really suck to be late, and also spill her drink. Especially considering how much she liked the outfit she was wearing today. Gray and black, with touches of blue and green. The roses on her tank top were her favorite part though. Abbey always liked to have something a little special about her outfits.

She glanced around as she walked, looking for her friend. Looking over towards the fountain, she saw a flash of bright orange she recognized. There Deidra was. Abbey smiled and hurried over to her. She sat down next to her friend. ”Sorry it took me so long, I had a bit of a late start. Somehow I missed you at Starbucks.” She gestured to their matching cups, then took another sip of her coffee. ”Where to first?”

Deidra was caught up in looking at the people around her. There were so many sparklies to be seen in this mall! She watched them, olive eyes round and watching. People were such interesting creatures the way they scurried about. Sometimes she didn't really get that either. How everyone was always in such a hurry to be everywhere at once and nowhere important. The girl leaned back on the lip of the fountain since it was so wide, staring up to the glass rooflight above. It was then that someone sat next to her. When she looked up she saw Abbey smiling at her. She said something about being late and how she was sorry, and Deidra waved her off with a thin hand and a smile.

" Abs, it's fine! I was a titch late myself anyway. Kind of got sidetracked yes?" She giggled slightly as she pulled a wrist upto her face. Her amber bracelet was bright against her dark skin. She closed her eyes, then let her hand drop. The girl leaned up, thin body quick. She tended to do that sometimes, make such movements. Deidra looked around and narrowed her eyes, trying to decide where to go first. She wasn't really sure, honestly, because there were so many places that could hold interesting thin. With thanksgiving just passed all the sales were happening. Deidra had an unlimited cash fund, so she wasn't really worrying.

" Not sure really. Mhmm, someone where with sparklies. Lots of sparklies." She bit her lip as a thought passed through her mind. She would have to have her little problem under control. Of course, she had never told Abigail about that little issue. And most likely she wouldn't. The girl just couldn't tell anyone. Well, she figured someone knew, but wasn't absolutely positive and wasn't going to ask.

" So whatcha say about that?"

Abbey was used to Deidra’s quick movements by now. She barely even noticed. Though not so much for the man sitting near them. He jumped a bit, and Abbey had to stifle a giggle. ”Yeah a little distracted. Hard not to be in such a huge mall. Besides, had to have my coffee.” She grinned as she held up her cup slightly. She took another couple sips as she watched her friend talk. She giggled again at the mention of sparklies. ”I’d imagine most of the places here have sparklies. With the exception of Gymboree, although I did have a sparkly headband from them when I was two. So maybe.”

She grinned up at her friend. ”Somehow I feel like you were thinking more along the lines of Macy’s or Nordstrom’s.” Abbey stood up then, linking her arm through her friends. ”Nordstrom’s is closer. Might be best to start there.” Taking another sip of her coffee, she tossed a smile at the still jumping man. ”Let’s get some shopping done!”
