Any Last Words [Ethan]

Lukas went to the mall to not only get over the anger he felt within himself to kill Ethan White and Matt Waylan, but he also was looking to buy something small and cute to make Andi feel better. She had been staying at his place recently because of what had happened between her and Ethan. Lukas had no problem having her stay at his place, but he didn't like how sad she was. It broke his heart to see her so sad, and so heartbroken. She had become a shell of herself, and he wanted to make her feel better. He really didn't know how to, and wished that he could bring her Ethan's head on a platter, but he figured a cute stuffed animal would do for now. Maybe some flowers too.

He wandered around the mall looking for something that would make Andi smile, and he didn't mind how window shopping was keeping his mind off of things. Lukas made his way in and out of stores, trying to look for the perfect gift. Maybe a teddy bear, maybe a stuffed dog, maybe everything. He didn't know what to get, he had never done anything like this before. Buying things for a girl he really liked was a new thing to him, and he wanted to do it perfectly. Especially for Andi. He wanted to see that smile on her face again, and he wanted to see those green eyes light up with some life in them again.

After a few stops, Lukas continued to wander the mall thinking, bags full of assorted stuffed animals, women's clothing, and chocolates in his bags. His mind wouldn't leave Andi, he loved having her around, but he hated knowing that she was only over because Ethan had hurt her. He hated the fact that she had disappeared out of his world because she started dating Ethan. He knew that she was lying around his apartment right now, probably eating the freezer full of ice cream Lukas had packed, thinking that that was what women ate when they were hurt.

Lukas was done shopping and he just wanted to go home and hold her, and give her the presents, and make her feel better. But that's when someone caught his attention. Lukas could hear the laughter of a guy walking through the mall talking on his cellphone. And Lukas couldn't help but turn his attention to the guy, had the guy just said Andi's name? At first Lukas just glanced past the guy, but when he gave the guy a second glance he recognized him as Ethan White.

Immediately Lukas' blood began to boil. He began to make his way towards the guy, who was walking straight towards him, not knowing what was about to hit him. As Lukas approached the guy, he quickly glanced around to see if there were any security guards around. Lukas could see that there luckily weren't any around, but he knew that it wouldn't take long for one to show up.

When Lukas got in front of Ethan, he immediately dropped his bags, and swung a hard right hook into the other boy's face. "That's for Andi," Lukas said to the other boy, as he watched the other boy's shocked face.

Another week has passed and while his problems still remain to be solved, Ethan could surprisingly say that his optimism shot just a bit higher now than it was the few weeks ago. True, Andi still isn’t returning his calls (and he has no idea where she might be; Chris says she hasn’t been seen around her dorm room a few days after their disastrous break-up) and Matt still slams the door on his face whenever he comes over to work things out, but at least he and Braxton were talking again. It’s not as warm as it was before (and it stings him a bit every time a comparison strikes him) but it’s better than nothing. Their brothers were apparently so amused at the supposed reconciliation that they even threw them a party to celebrate the cancellation of ‘Mr. and Mrs. Carson’s divorce’. How fun.

But he can’t dwell on it forever. As much as he’d want to prioritize the return of his ‘status quo’, more pressing matters, like his upcoming midterms, the start of the hockey season and other random things like his mother’s shopping list, the latter of which is the reason why he came to the mall in the first place. Halloween’s just around the corner and apparently his mother doesn’t have time spare to shop for décor and candies. So much for being able to duplicate yourself.

He was halfway through the list (candies done, on to the specialty store) when Greg, a teammate of his, called to ask about the party they’re supposed to attend come Saturday. As with all friendly conversations, a few jokes and comments were thrown here and there, which would account for the laughter that might’ve caught Lukas’ attention. And as for the mention of ‘Andi’? Well, turns out Ethan had another friend (and teammate) named Andy, who was quite the d-bag, and Greg was telling Ethan about how Andy got scolded by their coach for pulling a number of pranks to the freshmen members of their team. (That’s why he was laughing when he said, ‘Andy’s a bitch!’).

Maybe he should be a little more careful when talking to people in public next time.

So into the conversation was the brunette that he didn’t notice the raging guy deliberately walking towards him, catching him unaware with the sudden hook to his jaw. His phone was thrown halfway across the mall, the bags dropped a few feet away from him, as he fell down on the floor, jaw throbbing in pain. He heard a few inhales of surprise around him (they’re in a rather public place after all) and while he could see the concern in their faces, seems no one’s brave enough to at least mediate what’s happening. He couldn’t blame them; not only was he a stranger to most, if not all, of them, but his assailant was huge. Not much taller than him, but definitely more toned and destructive.

Instinctively his hand cupped over his (what he hopes wouldn’t be a broken) jaw and looked straight in the guy’s face. “What the fuck was that for man?!” he said in a garbled voice, jaw still in pain to talk. Angry eyes looked at his assailant as he tried to soothe his throbbing jaw. “Andi? And you’re what, her new boyfriend?” Boy was she fast or what.
