Bowling lessons? [Matt]

Hey Matt, it’s Andi. I’m so sorry I haven’t talked to you before now, I’ve been busy with school. I was hoping we could have that bowling date, like we promised? The bowling alley’s on the outskirts of the club district, it has bowling pins on the roof so you can tell that it’s there. I’ll be there around two-thirty, waiting for you. Hope to see you soon!

She had sent that message four hours ago.

Dressed in a black tank top and jeans that sat low on her hips, and those awful bowling shoes, she arrived at the bowling alley a half hour before schedule, hoping to calm her fluttering nerves. She hadn’t seen Matt in weeks, swamped with school as she had been, and now the prospect of seeing the handsome boy again made her act like a nervous fool.

She picked up some bowling balls, testing their weight, and finally picked one that wasn’t too light or too heavy. Walking down to the lane she had purchased, she ignored the looks from the other men there; some subtle, some leering. Sitting down at her lane, she sighed and looked at her watch. Hopefully he would show up.

Matt had forgotten to charge his phone. After Andi had never called or texted him he didn't really us it anyway and was sort of disappointed to even be around it. So of course it was dead. When he remembered to charge it his parents had asked him to go get Dani. he had jumped at the opportunity to do so and was able to put Andi far from his mind while he spent time with his sister.So he plugged in the phone and left, forgetting to check his messages before he left.

Matt had then proceeded to spend the next four hours with his sister. She had taken him to go shopping and of course he was designated as the one who had to carry the bags. How much stuff did she need anyway? Matt was all for spoiling his little sister but he was glad he had enough strength to carry the bags. Normal people probably wouldn't be able to do it.

Coming home he went to lie down on the bed and realized he had a text. Glancing at it he smiled slightly. Then of course He looked at the time. Oh dear. It was four hours past when he had gotten the text.Quickly but quietly he made his way to where the text had said and went into the alley.

His eyes scanned the crowd as he looked for Andi. Ah yes, there she was. Being leered at and gawked at as usual. Sighing he made his way over to her after getting a pair of bowling shoes and putting them on. Smiling he made his way over to Andi and sat down opposite her with a grin that was parallel to none.

She had been sitting there for a bit, alternating between looking at the bowling ball and the small backpack she had brought with her. Inside the small bag was a small notebook and some pens; her gift to Matt for accepting this date with her. She looked at her watch and sighed; maybe this hadn’t been a good idea after all. She made to stand when she felt a warm presence beside her and looked up into his face, his grin making her face light up in a smile.

“Matt!” she said happily, jumping up to give him a hug. “I’m so glad you came!” She reached into her bag and pulled out the small notebook and pens and handed them to him. “These are for you,” she offered with a small smile. “So we can talk and stuff.” She had already written a note inside, telling Matt all about school and her family and how she was sorry that she had been busy; hopefully he would like it.

“So let’s get started, shall we?” she told him with a smile, taking the time to braid her hair over her shoulder and tie it off with a rubber band. She sat at the computer and inputted her initials, ALT, and looked up at her companion. “Basically we input our initials here, and it shows up on the TV above us, and it’s a moderator on who’s turn it is,” she explained, hoping he would understand.

Matt had watched her as he grew closer and closer to where she was sitting. He winced when he saw the whole other male population eying her and starting to get closer. Hurriedly he made his way over and was warranted with stares from everyone. He only carried a small bag and his keys. Matt smiled as he stood above her waiting for her to stand and realize it was him. He hoped however she didn't think it was one of the Leech's that had been closing in on her and was happy as she stood, a smile on her face.

Matt smiled only slightly as the smaller girl jumped up to give her a hug. He just nodded as she slowly let herself back down and started fishing in the bag for something. Waiting patiently he smiled as she pulled out a notebook and a few pens for them to write. Silently he took it from her and flipped through the pages. He stopped at the note and read it thoroughly before grabbing a pen and writing his reply.

It is quite all right, on a side note we are all moved in, Besides, we are here now. So it doesn't matter how long it took us to get here.

Matt smiled as he handed the notebook back to her with the note.

He smiled as she said to get started and sat down at the computer to do something. He watched curiously and when she got up inputted his own initials into the computer making sure they were correct. He got that the computer let each person know when to go and who had what score. After all Andi explained it pretty well. He sat down an waiting for her to continue talking wondering exactly what they were going to o now that both of their initials had been put up into the screen.

She took the notebook from him eagerly, reading his words and smiling widely. She looked up at him with that smile, a smile of pure happiness and joy that he was here. Matt had always been one to listen to her and understand when no words would be spoken, and for some reason, she had been able to understand him as well, ever since that first meeting. He was a sweet if shy boy, and she found that despite her liking for those who were bold and demanding, she quite liked Matt’s personality.

It also helped that he was one of the best-looking men she had ever had the pleasure to meet.

You’re right, like you are most of the time when I’m around. I’m really glad you’re here, Matt…I’ve missed hanging out with you, even if the only way we talk is through these notes. I cherish each and every one.

And she did. She finished writing the note and put the notebook back in Matt’s hands as she grabbed her bowling ball. “So the point of the game is to get as many points as possible,” she explained, tugging him towards the lane. “You roll this ball down the lane, make sure you don’t get into the grooves on the sides, those are gutters, and you want to knock as many pins down as you can.” To demonstrate, she rolled the ball down the lane and got nine of the ten pins.

Matt smiled back down at her as she smiled back at him as she waited for him to write on the notebook. She looked really happy for some reason, though Matt was not sure why. Frowning a bit he looked down. Was she happy that he was going to fail epically at this game? She was so full of fire and life that Matt could not imagine her doing that. If anything he could imagine her being happy for some other reason. Maybe it was something to do with him finally showing up after her waiting for four hours. Really he hadn't meant to be that late.

Matt smiled as she passed the notebook back over with her reply. He was glad she wasn't stealing it this time. Made his life a hell of a lot easier.

It is quite alright. Besides, I am not right all of the time. Hanging out with you is... interesting. I never know what will happen, but that is a good thing. Trust me. I like talking through notes. People can't tell what you are saying and it is easier to communicate. If that makes any sense?

Matt handed it back to her on the table sliding it over towards her, before standing when she did and watching her intently.He slowly nodded as she explained the game and tugged him towards the lane. He watched in amazement as she rolled the ball down the lane and knocked the pins down. He wanted to try. Grinning he grabbed a shiny blue bowling ball and attempted to roll it down the lane. NO! Wait! Don't go that way! Matt sighed. It just went into the gutter and he hung his head in shame. He didn't really like bowling all that much at the moment. By this time Matt was being very quiet and not looking at Andi. He was quieter then usual. It was obvious that he was utterly failing at the game.

Go easy on him Andi, he doesn't really understand.

Andi watched as Matt tried his hand, rolling the ball down the lane and into the gutter. When she looked up at him, she saw that he wasn’t looking at her, hanging his head in shame. She went to stand in front of him, feeling delicate and small against his taller frame, and lifted his chin with her hand, smiling at him. “Not everyone gets the pins the first time, Matt,” she said gently, pushing down her urge to tease him and replacing it with her soothing tone. “I’ve only done this for a couple of years. I’ll show you.”

When his ball came back up, she took it and tested the weight; it wasn’t too heavy, which was a good thing. She quickly read his note and brought the ball back to him. “See these three holes?” she asked, pointing to them. “You put your middle and ring fingers in the top ones, and your thumb in the lower one.” To show him, she grabbed his hand and placed his fingers gently into the aforementioned holes. She then stepped behind him and laced her arms under his.

“Then you gently swing your arm…and let the ball slide,” she continued, taking him through the motion until the ball was rolling down the lane. She watched in excitement as the ball took out eight of the ten pins. “You did it, Matt!” she told him happily, slinging her arms around his neck and hugging him tightly. “And that is how you bowl,” she said with a satisfied smirk as she let him go and got her own ball, ready to take her turn.

Matt was holding his head down and not really looking at anything or anyone when he felt a hand on his chin.Curious he looked down at Andi wondering what she was going to do. HE looked at her with silent eyes and listened as she spoke. He just shook his head his mouth in a small frown as she went on to say that not everyone got the pins the first time. For a minute he thought he might not get them after all. He had never been bowling before. Really it wasn't living up to its reputation for being fun.

Matt waited for her reply to the note and looked at her as she continued to explain about the bowling ball. He nodded as she explained thoroughly and pointed to the three holes. Wait... why? Matt sighed. Why were his fingers going in this hole again? Oh right to hold the ball.Sighing again he let her take his hand and position it at the ball. He was a bit surprised but he let her do as she please still wondering just what she was doing. She knew that she was more experienced in this so he was positive that it was just better to let her do as she please. Maybe he would actually learn about this whole bowling thing.

Matt listened to her words and attempted to do it correctly ass he continued to direct his hands to roll the ball down the lane. He was sure that t wouldn't go well and was very surprised when it managed to get eight of the ten pins out. He looked up at the screen confused. Was that good? He didn't really understand it, but from the way she was hugging him it seemed to be. Briefly he remarked that she was a very touchy person before sitting down to watch her take the turn that was allocated to her.
