And then I met you {Miranda}

Edward couldn't help himself. Midterms didn't deter his will and desire to party and he found himself in the club that night again, in the middle of the week as well. Not that it bothered him much. He'd asked a few brothers out with him but they all turned him down. Seems they were too busy doing the boring old studying to actually have a little fun in life. Then again, thankfully, he was a quick learner and very much interested in medicine and biology of the human body so where people were just learning things, he'd already self taught himself just out of down right curiousity.

He remembered quoting things to Drew that he found interesting for hours and hours during the night time hours between school days and Drew would do the same to him. He did miss Drew and that was probably why he was sleeping around a lot more and making sure he made himself available to meet people he could sleep around with. Tonight he'd opted for one of his local haunts and entering alone, he decided to head straight for an empty bar chair.

It was more quiet then it normally was but go figure. It wasn't weekend yet. His eyes flashed to the many bartenders then focused on one girl in particular and when he caught her attention with a hand signal he eased into a chair waiting for her to free up so he could order himself a drink.

Middle of week, and working. Miranda was only here because one of her co-workers needed a shift taken, and the brunette needed the money. Tips weren't the best during the week, but some dweeb usually took that into consideration and tipped her way more than normal, thus making the shift bearable. She had been rinsing out glasses when a rather handsome guy called her over, so she took her small waitress tray and walked to him, a small, sheepish smile on her her.

Miranda was nice enough, albeit a little more on the shy side, some guys really seemed to be into that - the shy, complicated, hard to get girl. She pushed back a stray of her long brown hair and set her tray down next to the otherwise empty table he was sitting at. "What can I get for you?" She asked, no need to write it down. At this point, she could memorize orders, and if she could do that on a weekend, tonight would prove to be no problem.

Her grey eyes lingered on him for a moment, he seemed very familiar to her. Maybe he went to the university? Hmm, she didn't ask. He wasn't here for chitchat, and she didn't want to be intrusive. Tonight, she would be his server and drink maker - she had caught on quickly, and her boss liked her a lot, despite her less than friendly nature. She was thin and pretty, and fast on the uptake, so he saw her as worth keeping, and she was grateful. She needed to move out as soon as she could.

The girl that came over wasn't bad on the eyes at all and Edward supposed that it was a good thing to be thinking of extending his reach a little. Hey, if he was busy seducing Yulia, he'd might as well start to weave a line for someone else right there with him. If her smirk was any judge of character, he could imagine that she'd not be hard to convince. He couldn't wait to try so when she came over, he got on the foot rail and leaned over so he could whisper in her ear.

"We're supposed to be studying but between me and you, I can see something I'd rather be studying..."
Edward leaned back, taking his seat. He'd seen her around school. He was sure she took at least one of his brother's classes because when they'd been talking about 'need-to-smash' girls. She was most definitely in the running and he could see why. She was hot. What was her name? Manda? Andrea? Edward pointed teasingly to the bottle right behind her narrowing his eyes at it.

"Don't you think it looks worth studying?"
Edward teased her staying leaned across the bar since the whole club seemed to be fairly empty anyway when she asked him what she could get him. He hopped off the foot and glanced slowly around the room searching for his answer in the few remaining customer's glasses before his eyes returned to her and he smirked.

"How bout a JD and coke and dance with the pretty bartender serving it to me?"
He watched her with a smirk then thought of another compliment to give her. Pausing to admire her features, he finally spoke the words that were bound to make her blush.
"My friends keep talking about you. They said you are the hottest girl on campus. "
Edward shook his head.
"They're lying of course."

He narrowed his eyes slowly at her admiring her again and making it blatantly obvious that he was doing such.
"You're the hottest girl in Vermont at this point and that's BEFORE alcohol. "
He grinned at her.

Miranda smiled pleasantly, still trying to be friendly despite how she thought the guy was being rather pompous. "It's worth studying I suppose, if you plan on working here," she said, alluding to the fact that she had to study the very bottles he was talking about, and it hadn't been fun. Not when she had a million other things to study for, and also a million other things she would rather be doing.

"I'll get you that drink," she said with a grin, walking away from the boy, and behind the bar. She was the only was serving, but that didn't mean much if the bar wasn't very full. Miranda brought the glorified coke to the boy, lingering. She knew he was lying about her being the hottest girl on campus, maybe the skinniest, but she didn't fall for these lines. Flirting was fun, but she was a grown up who could handle the desires of boys (and sometimes men) so long as they matched what she wanted.

"Me break is in a few minutes, I'll dance with you then," she decided, leaving the boy for the moment. There were some cups to wash, but after that was done, as promised, she came back without the hideous waitress apron and stood next to the boy, her grey eyes light. "You have fifteen minutes."

How could anyone want to study bottles? Poor thing. If Edward had known that she actually wasn't a drinker and actually had to study the bottles and labels for the drinks then he would have found another topic to joke around with. He'd known about alcohol since he was three years old, unfortunate truth of the matter. He didn't think the girl would take it as seriously as she did. The girl who's name he still didn't know. He was sure he'd heard it before. He was sure he knew her name. He'd been here a month already and the brothers had been so welcoming.

They had told him about her. He had to try and remember her name. Edward nodded his thanks and an agreement when she left to go and do the cups and what ever else she was about to do behind the bar. It was so empty, he swore he heard a cricket in the corner of the club. The girl came back out without her apron on and Edward got to his feet and took her hand in his leading her to the very center of an empty dance floor. He pulled her close to him and started to lead her around the floor.

"Okay, time for the truth huh? My name is Edward and I suck at remembering other people's names. I forgot yours. Oh and you're coming to Kappa-Sigma's halloween party this weekend right? I mean, you have to be there. It's... warm."
Edward gave a soft chuckle moving to the back ground music and just when the girl in his arms wasn't expecting it, he dipped her then pulled her back up.

"Hey, can I steal you? "
He smiled at her, looking into her eyes in an attempt to see what she was really thinking about while she danced with him.

Miranda followed him obediently, dancing closely with him. She chuckled, “I’m working a lot during Halloween, sorry,” she said simply, uninterested but also telling the truth. “I don’t do parties anyways,” she said with a shrug, and then he dipped her, and she laughed lightly. It wasn’t very often that she did so, and when their faces met again, she was closer than before. “Where are we going?” She asked with a small smile.

It dawned on her that she hadn’t said her name yet. “Miranda, pleasure to meet you Edward,” she said, pulling away to dance in circles around him. “I only have ten minutes, what did you have in mind?” She asked then, wondering if she was hinting at the same things he was.

Again, she pulled closer to him, their bodies touching now. She was having fun and enjoying the view. Edward, was definitely nothing to scoff at, and sometimes, Miranda appreciated someone being forward about what they wanted from her. In fact, she preferred it that way.

Edward's disappointment showed in his eyes as he heard her rejection. He could handle rejection. It wasn't like he couldn't. It was just that he was hoping to have it easy at this brothers party. He really wondered if he'd just skip it then again, his roommate was going so he might as well take the leap and join in. Of course, he'd rather be spending it talking Meta with someone. Edward smiled when she laughed holding her close. Her laugh sounded amazing and he had to draw more of those from her.

"That's disappointing. I would have loved it if you'd be there to keep laughing at all my horrible jokes or something."
She said where are we going and his eyes lit up again.
"Aw really? I can steal you away from work?"
He said softly and shook his head.
"Anywhere you wanna go. We can get a cab or something. I could use the company really."

She was pressed close to him and he gave her a frown shaking his head.
"Likewise, Miranda but I need more then ten minutes with you. That's for certain so maybe just these ten minutes and we'll take a rain check for a whole night? We can have dinner somewhere. My treat."
He pushed his hair out of his eyes as he danced with her giving her a soft smile. Ten minutes was just NOT how he did it. He needed longer. He needed more time and he needed the talk, the wine and the dine and then the bedroom magic.

He was old fashioned where that was concerned. This girl seemed to be game for anything though and he wondered if she was serious enough for it to last longer then ten minutes. He liked the challenge really. A quick exchange in the bathroom was really not that much fun.

Miranda smiled at him. At least she was charming, not a complete jerk. And he even wanted to treat her right, that was definitely earning brownie points in her opinion. The brunette was a woman for few words, but what she lacked in speech she made up for in body language, as she drew nearer to the boy and her pupils dilated. “Okay, I’ll give you my number and see if you keep your word,” she said, unused to guys wanting more than just what happened in the bedroom. It was something she came to expect, but maybe Edward could change her mind. Maybe he wasn’t such a typical guy, but her cynicism made her not get her hopes up.

It was then that another girl who was working came up to her tonight, and said that the manager said one of them could go home. The blonde pleaded with Miranda to let her stay – she really needed the hours. Miranda knew that the other girl had a baby, and even though she needed money for school, she wasn’t a heartless bitch. “Yeah okay, take the rest of the shift, and you get extra tips that way,” she said with a kind smile, making the blonde girl hug her.

Turning back to Edward, Miranda laced her arms around his waist, dancing with him once more. “Well I guess I’m all yours tonight,” she said, and before he got the wrong impression she added, “maybe we can go for late night coffee somewhere?”

Edward, for a few moments felt himself become a little speechless when he body moved right up against his and he had to close his eyes for a moment or two in order to gather some form of control over himself. His hands moved to rest on her hips and he looked into those big beautiful eyes of her as she promised him her number if he promised to take her out. His eyes locked on hers and he smirked slightly at the thought of her appreciating the fact that he'd take her out on a proper date before falling into bed with her. What was the use of a challenge when it came far too easy?

The moment the other girl came up to them he pulled away from Miranda. His grin could not have been wider then right then. He watched the two interact and almost knew exactly what would happen from here on in. So he wasn't going to be alone tonight after all. That was brilliant. Now he was allowed to get to know Miranda but baby steps to a challenge mastered. It wasn't just about another notch for Edward. It was about another win. He liked collecting hearts in a jar and it was sometimes even crueler then a quick round in the toilets.

He prided himself on the fact that nothing and no one could get to him at all. When Miranda's arms laced around his waist his own cupped her face in his warm hands as he smiled down at her.
"That was totally fate you know? Let me just finish that drink I got and pay."
He hummed to her since the music was low enough for him to do so before he pulled back from her and stroked the back of his hand across her cheek. He took her hand in his and lead her over to the bar again, taking his drink and downing it like he'd said before he set the glass down and let go of her hand.

Edward reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet, setting down the amount of the drink and a tip before he paused and frowned at her.
"So who gets this tip? You or the other girl?"
He raised an eyebrow at her.
"Or do you think I can show my appreciation of services by taking you out for coffee now and dinner later on in the week?"

Miranda let the boy parade her to the bar, downing his drink, and she held her smile. Alright, so he was eager to get out of here, that was a good sign. The brunette saw the blonde girl behind the bar give her a wink and her eyes grew wide in surprise as she shook her head – Edward was not her boyfriend. Morgan had been curious as to who was the lucky man in Miranda’s life, but the girl preferred to be single. Between school and working, she had enough on her plate, never mind that she didn’t know how to be social properly. It was easy to put on a face for work, but outside, she didn’t have a reason to be outgoing.

Smiling at Edward, she took his hand again after he paid and played with his fingers. “I like the latter,” she said, pulling at him. “Or we could even grab a pizza from Pizza Hotline, what do you think?” She asked then, her grey eyes turning different colors from the lights in the club. “Oh,” she said, just remembering what Edward had asked her, “and the tips are for her.” Miranda looked back at Morgan and gave her a small wave as they left the bar, jacket over her arm. She had no problem if the blonde kept the tips, she had worked her shift and earned enough tips for the night, something that would go straight into the bank.

“Are we walking or driving?” She asked the boy, looking up at him thoughtfully. Miranda was still surprised he wanted to take her out – he would realize just how awkward she could be soon enough. The brunette didn’t have a car, but the bar was only a short walk from her parents place, although busses weren’t running this late. It all depended on how Edward had arrived here.

Edward was pretending NOT to notice the wink and the encouragement from the blonde but he had and it was a little hard not to. His eyes swept over Miranda as she suggested they get pizza instead... Not from a Pizza place but they were gonna order in. So where was she planning to go. To his dorm? Or hers? Not that Edward cared much. He was sure most of his people were out studying with other. It was only he who got all overly confident and decided he didn't need to study. With Miranda, she had to work which is why she was studying.

That was probably why she was wanting to go home. Well, that was so not happening with him. Once they were outside he shot her a smirk.
"Pizza it is. Think they deliver to the park area in down town?"
He smirked and stroked his thumb across hers quickly before adressing her transportations question.
"I've only been here two months and only going to be here ten more so what's the point of getting a car BUT I've got the taxi's on speed dial if we don't spot one to stop on our way down town. "

Edward starts whistling lightly as they walked looking out for a taxi to stop. He couldn't believe he was challenging himself NOT to sleep with her and she wasn't exactly making it easy on him either.

Miranda shrugged, "Why not? They want business don't they?" She asked, wondering if his place was so disheveled that they had to have the food sent to some random city location instead of urban. She really wasn't trying to get into his bed, not any more anyways. Pizza Hotline had 24.7 dine-in as well, but he seemed to take the suggestion the wrong way. Still, boys always had a strong appetite, as the old saying went.

Making their way to the park while walking, Miranda watched Edward whistle for a cab. Where did he think they were, New York or something? She smirked, "We can walk to the park from here, I was just wondering how you got here in the first place," she paused her speech, but continued to walk. She wasn't really interested in getting to know the boy, because then he would want to know things about her and she really didn't want to share. Sometimes it was just easier to sleep with someone and then walk away, no strings attached. But if he wanted to buy her pizza, so be it.

Then she started rummaging through her jacket pockets, many ones flitted around inside. "We could split the pizza," she said with a grin, "I have a lot of money in tips and I'm pretty sure the delivery guy won't accept Visa." They were walking through an unlit street now, and Miranda instinctively moved closer. She didn't really trust Edward that much yet, seeing as she just met him, but she trusted him more than some of the people around here, of which she could easily be hurt by.

Edward smirked when she said about them being able to walk there. Yeah because he liked walking around at night anyway. She still seemed a little cold and maybe she was wondering why the park. Well, he'd show her why. Number 1.) It was rather nippy out. 2.) The moon was full. 3.) Nippy required cuddling right? Edward was fantastic on the romance front of people were open to it. Fortunately for him, Drew had been open to it and he'd managed to swept Drew off his feet. Enough about Drew though. He had to keep focussing on the girl beside him.

They passed down an alleyway and she pressed closer to him while rummaging. His arm slipped around her shoulders and he shook his head.
"Hey! Don't take away my manly rights. At least allow me to pay for our pre-date meal."
He smirked down at her.
"I have enough cash. Stop stressing about it."
He moved his hand to run through her hair while his other hand offered her the phone so she could order.

Edward would leave that decision up to her. The choice of pizzas at least.
"Get them to bring a litter of coke too or something. "
So tonight he wasn't too keen on getting totally drunk at all. He was just starving for some good conversation and some stargazing.

Miranda smiled, leaving her money in his pocket. "Alright, I was just trying to be nice," she said, wondering if Edward was this way with everyone he tried to swoon. Taking his phone, she dialed the number, ordered them a medium deluxe pizza and a liter of coke, and even though the guy over the phone sounded a bit surprised that she wanted it delivered to the park, he didn't argue. Business was business, their money was as good as anyone's.

His arm around her shoulder, playing with her hair, they kept walking, and after inputting her number into his phone, she handed it back to them. "We should get to the park in ten minutes, pizza guy said he would be there in twenty, plenty of time," she said, her eyes stayed focused ahead of them, wary of anyone who had ill intentions towards a young couple roaming the streets late at night.

Nothing was innocent any more.

A happy sigh escaped her then, it was good to be off work, and in the presence of someone who seemed to want her time. Miranda didn't say a word, but kept on walking. If it was good conversation Edward wanted, he would have to be the one to start it.

Ten minutes. They were making good time then. He watched her enter her number and smirked. Well that was good. Meant she really didn't mind being about him or anything and he was kinda grateful at any rate that he didn't have to start bugging her for her number. She'd entered it automatically without him having to ask her for it. The happy sigh made Edward pull her to a stop. They were close to the end of the dark alleyway and in the dim shadows from a light cast in the street so they were more or less safe. Pretty much safer then they had been back there in the dark.

She looked beautiful with the light and dark across her face and her shadowed eyes showing a little twinge of pleasure in them. Edward watched her for a long moment before stepping infront of her and tilting her chin up. He leaned in and pressed his lips to hers kissing her. He'd been wanting to do it for quite some time now and it felt good to be able to kiss her. He knew he had a circuit of girls hovering about but the fact of the matter was that he enjoyed a pair of lips on his. The touch of a hand on his cheek.

He was engaged, yes, but it was his own addiction. Okay, somehow that had sounded better when he'd planned on using it as an excuse for Drew in order to defend his actions and hide from being percicuted. Edward's hand came up to cup the back of her head tilting her head back before trailing his kisses from her lips down her jaw and along her neck. This was what he was good at doing. Seducing. Drew had to understand that. He didn't ask for this talent. It had just happened.
