Miranda was seriously happy to be off work. She was glad for the extra hours during summer, but she wasn’t very impressed with her boss lately. He tried to tell her that she needed to do something about her short hair. Such as get extensions. She happily told him that if he was willing to pay for them, she would. It wasn’t a bad thing for a girl to have short hair, but apparently that wasn’t very attractive in a bartender or waitress. He just didn’t seem to grasp that Mira didn’t really care what he thought of her or her hair.

Slipping into a slinky black dress in the bathroom, Miranda put her dress pants and black shirt into her oversized purse. She went into the back of the club and put her stuff in her employee locker. She might as well have her hands free on the dance floor, and there wasn’t a better place to stow her belongings than in a locked locker. It wasn’t very late just yet. The night was young and she was going to try and enjoy herself despite the very long eight hour shift she had to endure with screaming toddlers during lunch.

Sitting at the bar, Miranda made eye contact with a stranger she believed to be cute, and smiled hopefully.

“What the hell was that? Disgusting bro, disgusting. I…we can’t be friends anymore, nope, not after that.” Despite the seemingly harsh words, one look at the Irish boy’s smug grin and one would immediately know that such words were anything but truthful. The loud jeers of the rowdy group of young men with him and the high-fives that greeted the blonde as he sat by their table and drank a shot only served to reiterate the whole ‘sincerity’ behind the speech.

It’s a Friday night, and as it has been for a few weeks now, Romeo’s once again in one of Pilot Ridge’s surprisingly many bars with some of his college pals. Ever since that night he and another friend of his snuck out of Hammel and crashed to a frat party, he’s been hanging out with the said group of boys almost every weekend. Apparently they just ‘clicked’ so much that they’re the ones actually inviting the Irish boy to tag along with, to the point that they’re the ones who actually secured him a fake ID so that he’d be able to go with them. (Not that anyone’s ever checked it anyway; him being around twenty-somethings somehow leads most to believe he’s also of legal age, albeit slightly baby faced. He is starting to grow a beard now though, just in case).

After chugging another shot of god-knows-what, Romeo began looking around, telling his buddies that it’s now his turn to show them how it’s done. “There,” one of his friends said, tilting his head to the side and motioning to the bar, “See those the brunette? Twenty bucks.” Romeo simply replied with a cocky snort, rolling his eyes as he brushed his hair a bit. “Forty says I’ll get her and the blonde/redhead beside her.” This made the rest of the guys laugh and shake their heads, and after a few seconds of utter chaos, the Irish teen stood up and began walking to the bar.

“Hi there,” he said with a wink, “Can I buy you two drinks?”

Devon looked and felt incredibly out of place.

It had taken a while for her to even build up the courage to leave her tiny apartment, even longer to convince herself that maybe she should act more like a normal 23 year old woman. While the majority of Devon's life had been spent in front of a computer or tv screen, immersed in video games or science fiction movies, she'd had a realization only about a week prior that maybe she was missing out on something.

Not that she was an expert or anything, but Devi knew most girls her age didn't lead such a solitary lifestyle. Most of them were out there living life, with boyfriends (or girlfriends, she didn't judge), partying, enjoying their youth, making friends. And when Devi realized that her "friends" were the people on Xbox Live and that she couldn't remember the last time she spent time in the same physical place as another human being, she thought it might have been time for a change.

It wasn't that Devi was shy, no one would say that about the normally loud and somewhat foul-mouthed redhead, but when it came to stepping outside her comfort zone, she got a little nervous and awkward. A bar was definitely far outside said comfort zone, but here she was nonetheless. Her first stop had been to order something fruity and alcoholic in the hopes that it would calm her nerves a little, and it was then that she spotted a somewhat familiar face.

Racking her brain for a moment, the name finally popped out. "Miranda!" Oh, that was a little awkward, wasn't it? "Um, I mean... Hi Miranda." She wasn't sure if the girl would remember her, after all they had only met briefly and they shared just one class. Fidgeting with the glass, Devi jumped when another voice came from behind her. "... what?"

She was really bad at this.

Miranda tapped her fingers along the bar, imagining herself reeling in her bait. It wasn’t hard to get guys to sleep with her. Most were more than willing. It didn’t really matter what she looked like so long as she had the proper tools. She watched the boy with nice poofy hair approach her, but something else caught her eye. Or rather, her ears.

“Devon?” She asked the girl who practically jumped on her. Miranda smiled in spite of herself. Devon was still the same girl she had met a few weeks ago. “I haven’t lost any pens.” She said, because honestly that was all she knew about Devon. That she was a pen saver. Mira didn’t really want to know anything else about Devon. In fact, she was a little disappointed that the guy she had been eying up was now thinking he was going to get a threesome. It was written all over his face.

“Sure.” She said in a half bored way, but there was a sparkle and light to her eyes. She was here to forget about work and have a good time, so she might as well. “Rye and coke, if you don’t mind,” she said, her green eyes catching the boy’s, a hint of a smile on her lips. She wasn’t going to just give it up now that Devon was here. “So how did exams go for you?” She asked Devon, because the redhead looked seriously uncomfortable just sitting at a bar.
