The restaurant was cosy despite the crisp air outside and the candle light gave everything an intimate feel to it all. Craven really didn’t want to be there, even though he’d have his closest friend to lean on during this time. He hated the mere thought of having to sit through what was about to happen plus he was still very much annoyed at his father for always choosing business over family time with him and Tanner.
”Do you like it?”
To make it worse, Trinity was there and they hadn’t come empty handed. Craven had been the first to arrive and he’d only been stood there for about ten minutes before his dad had arrived with Trinity by his side.
Today, what she had in her hand, had not been a briefcase but a guitar case and when they’d managed to get their seats she’d revealed what his father had bought him. The black electric guitar was beautifully trimmed with glittering lightning bolts and the most exceptional looking strings he’d ever seen on a guitar.
But he had about ten electric guitars at home and now he simply had one more to add to the list. Craven stared at it expressionless as his father asked the question and he knew what it was for. His father was buying his affection again and he tried really had to stay very calm during it all and when he was calm, only then did he allow himself to speak.
”It’s beautiful. Thanks dad.”
Craven half muttered before sliding out of his seat to inspect it crouching on the ground where it was set. Trinity moved away and took a seat beside his father who was smiling down at Craven.
”Does she have to stay?”
”Craven!”
Craven gave a sigh and slowly closed up the guitar case.
”You know what, it’s fine. I can understand the apprehension. This is family time. I’m not really family...”
”Sit down, Trinity. You’re my PA. You’re as good as family. ”
She’d been in the process of getting up while Craven pretended to be invisible. He wished Adrianna and her mom would just show already. This was already getting awkward and drinks hadn’t even arrived yet.
”So I was thinking you could start your driving lessons in the new year because I have an idea for this beautiful little four seat GTA I wanna buy you and Tanner for a Christmas present. Thing he’ll like it?”
Craven looked back over his shoulder and came face to face with a stunning picture of the car in question. The silver shone in the sunlight and it was pure beauty with all the trimmings a Ferarri should have. The picture had so obviously been taken on Cooper’s phone in front of their mansion.
So he’d already bought it anyway. He knew Tanner would see through this one too and he parted his lips before he saw what he’d been waiting for all this time out of the corner of his eye. Adrianna had just entered the restaurant and Craven briefly forgot the guitar wan fixed his eyes on her instead, a bright smile settling on his lips as he straightened up.
Cooper too glanced over his shoulder and slowly got to his feet fixing his suite in order to greet the two.
”You always light up when she’s in the room. You should just ask her out. Be brave Craven. Who knows. By the time the Christmas ball comes around, you two might be close enough to take a trip up to the lake house for a couple of days. ”
There it was. The first of many comments of the evening. Craven leaned in and scooped up the guitar moving it against the wall.
