Now where had that come from? It seemed the innocent little farmgirl had a little fire behind those eyes. Now he would have to work to bring that out... make that sassy little bitch the dominant force in this girl's psyche.

After getting her addicted to him, of course.

"Little girl," Davoren said, his eyelids lowering and his face carrying a hint of danger. "I am many things. Ambitious. Intelligent. Althetic. But nice? Not generally one of those traits. I've always had a bit of a curse, you see. I'm the kind of guy who always says what's on his mind."

He sat up, letting his face soften again. A little fear... ladies loved the bad boy, but not one they felt was a danger to themselves. "If I didn't think you were gorgeous, I wouldn't have said it. Truth be told, you're the most beautiful woman I've seen in a long time. Given a few years, a girl like you could make a killing on the catwalk."

Comparing her to a model... if that didn't get her blood pumping, than she was deeper in the closet than Dante. "Say, wanna go for a ride in my car?" he asked. Get her away from here, and he could continue to chip at her walls.

Little girl. That she didn't like at all. She was not a little girl and was sick of being told she was a little girl. But the anger quickly melted away once he started to talk, his voice lower and almost dangerous. It was so intriguing she couldn't help but find herself leaning in towards him to listen.

This boy was definitely not good for her. Definitely holding a loto f baggage and she knew his memories would come bleeding through eventually and she wasn't quite sure she wanted to see those. But the danger was drawing her like a firefly to a lamp. So interesting.

Noah smiled when he said she could be a model. She was tall, and a kind of unconventional pretty. She'd been told she could model before but she was definitely not confident enough to be able to handle that kind of attention.

"Yeah." She found herself saying before she could even think about it. What had gotten into her? He might not even be a hammel student and could just be lying. You NEVER get in a strangers car. And here she was slipping on her coat and following him out. Stupid girl. Stupid stupid girl. She didn't know what she was getting herself into.

And that was what Davoren had counted on. The attraction of the dark, the dangerous. People were, after all, animals. They knew when something was stalking them... when there was a predator on the prowl. But the part of themselves wanted to stare that predator in the face.

And the girl was a total pushover. That too.

Still, there was some fire in her. He's have to... stroke that fire. Or stoke, rather. He could almost see her, clad in a sinful red dress, snapping at all those who dared approach her as she hung off his arm. The thought was making him almost salivate. Almost.

He lead her to the car, disengaging the alarm and hitting the remote starter. It was his junk car true, but it was likely nicer than anything she'd ever been in. He waited for her to strap in, before pulling out the parking lot. "Hope you don't mind a little cruise... I've always liked just hitting the back roads and letting my baby scream." Haha! Multiple entente!

Soon, he was outside the town limits, speeding down the road at a thoroughly illegal rate of speed.

The car was so nice she didn't even want to touch it afraid of getting a finger print on it. She watched as Davoren climbed in as if it was nothing. This was definitely worth more than anything she'd ever been in touching distance from. She carefully climbed in, placing her feet on the mat delicately. She didn't even want to put the bottom of her shoes on the floor. It still smelled like new car.

When he pulled out Noah's hand grasped the handle next to her holding tight. He was driving ridiculously fast and it was making her nervous. The roads around there weren't exactly straight and wide, they were curved and got very narrow at some places, trees lining the whole thing.

Hear his baby scream? He'd be hearing her screaming in a second if he didn't slow down! Seeing he wasn't planning on it she looked over at him. "Slow down!" She said seeing how fast he was going looking over. SHe was starting to freak the hell out and he had just gotten there! He didn't know these roads and therw as snow and ice around! was he out of his mind?!

Well, it seemed that it wasn't hard to get her scared. He was barely going seventy-five, and with the modifications he'd made, he could easily hit one hundred and fifty. But that would likely scare the girl half to death, so he relented, bringing the car down to a less insane sixty.

"Don't worry baby, you're in good hands," he told her. "Trust me, I know what I'm doing. Roads in Europe? No speed limit at all." Well, not really, but it sounded good, and she likely didn't know any better. "Nice scenery out here, isn't it?" he asked. There were snow and trees all around, like something out of a Christmas card. Perfect to get a girl in the mood of some friskiness.

"Of course... the scenery out there isn't nearly as nice as the scenery in the passenger seat..."

"Baby?" SHe asked looking over at him with a raised eyebrow. Baby? Really? Baby? She was not his baby and a part of Noah wanted to slap him across the face. He was starting to kind of annoy her with his fast car and ego and pet name for her when he didn't even know her that was just weird! She was happy when he slowed down though.

"mmm" She said in response to his comment about her being prettier than the outside. She was enjoying the attention yes, but she just didn't trust him for shit. She tried to see his memories again. She didn't see anything nice, she couldn't see much, some darkness, some colors and could hear some voices but nothing that could really reveal a thing about the stranger driving for real.

"So what are you at hammel for?"He was a meta. it was strange that they hadn't discussed this yet.

'I can control your mind by speaking.'

Yeah, that power would go over well. And if she knew what he could do, she'd likely bolt out of the car and run. Which meant it was time for more lies. He needed something he wouldn't be able to demonstrate... maybe something tragic? Tragic was good, sympathy paved the way for normally smart people doing stupid things, and stupid people doing downright idiotic things.

He pulled the car over and put it in park, making sure the heater was still on. "Well, I can make beautiful women blush... but that's hardly a power..." he said, looking to stall for a few moments. "Truth be told, my power really isn't all that fancy... hell, I don't even know why I'm here. Its not like I'm a danger or anything... I guess dad just wanted to get rid of me. not exactly a loving home..."

He let out a soft sigh. "But that's not what you asked..." he continued, making it seem like a simple attempt to divert from a painful topic. "All I can do is change my voice. They say with practice, I'll be able to mimic other voices and sounds, but for now... it just makes me sound like I'm in auto-tune. what about you? besides making men's hearts skip a beat, that is..."

When he talked about his father Noah tried to tune into his memories again. Looking for his father pushing him out because of something, or the discovery of his abilities. That was a normal one people had when sharing what they could do. But once again she saw nothing and could not understand why. Was he immune to her powers?

She smiled wildly when he complimented her again, twice in the same sentence practically. He really needed to stop because even the skeptical side of her was melting despite her resistance to it. She really was enjoying the attention even though she kept changing her mind.

"oh me? I.... well..." She wasn't so sure she should tell him. She paused and looked at him ready for him to not compliment her anymore or to throw her out like she was sure he would. She felt like she was saying goodbye, apologizing with her words. "I experience people's memories...." She said and shrugged. She wouldn't tell him that she could change them or make him forget things if she wanted to. That was even worse.

Memories? Well, that was going to make this all the more tricky. If she discovered some of his memories, he'd have an awful lot of explaining to do. And he wasn't ready to break her quite yet. So he focused on pshing select memories to the front of his mind. The coldness of the Cross house... his mother constantly drinking. A father never home. His rivalry with Dante, focusing on the ways Dante plotted against him.

"Interesting... and useful. Still, I can imagine it would be rather difficult to live with... its a testament to your strength you, managed to remain so sweet with such a gift..." He smiled at her, leaning a little closer. He reached out, slowly sliding his fingers along a stray strand of blonde hair.

If he backed off now, he was going to loose this opportunity forever. He just had to make sure he was guarded on the inside, open on the outside. Draw her in, slowly... use his skills to enthrall her.

The moment he started pushing the memories he wanted Noah to see they started flooding her mind. She felt bad for him, she felt what he felt during the times he felt them and saw flashes of this and that, a flash of his mother, a flash of a bottle, his brother, his father not there, a feeling of emptiness. Lots of little tidbits all not making sense quite yet. Just things that she assumed were things he was trying not to think about rather then what he wanted her to see instead of others. He was clever.

She looked over at him with big empathic eyes. She wasn't an empath but her abilities sometimes made her very sensitive to others. "It's difficult but... it's...." She shrugged. "It's nice to have someone to understand you and i'm good at that." She told him. It was true. She was the best friend to have around to vent to, she was always on her friends side as she felt like it happened to her too and only usually saw one person's side of the memory.

She was shocked when he reached out to her, leaning in close. Her heart started to pound. She had never been really touched before, not like this. It was almost loving... he was leaning in closer and she could feel her breathing stop. She'd never been kissed. He wasn't going to kiss her was he? She didn't know what to do. She was silently freaking out.

Understand him? HA! she understood exactly bupkiss. He was player like a harp from hell, and loving every second. He had to wonder, just how long would it take for him to get her to compromise her entire moral structure? Even if he had a hypnotic voice, it wasn't like his commands were entirely irresistible.

Still, this was a good start. He tilted his head, closing in on the girl. He could almost hear her heart racing. It was almost like a drug, her fear radiating off of her. She was about to get her first kiss, and if Davoren had his way, much more by the time they were done. He lips touched hers, parting them open and then pressing more firmly against her mouth.

Now to see how the little girl reacted... would she let herself be the submissive mouse still, or would that sassy side come back?

Noah had never pictured her first kiss to be like this... with a stranger that she didn't particularly like in a far to expensive car in the woods. She could feel her heart sink a bit coming to the realization how not magical the kiss was. Yes, it was good and felt nice. But no this boy didn't give a damn about her. He thought she was pretty and flattered her but she was sure he'd kissed so many girls before... and he had just met her.

Shit. She had just met him! This was not good! Why was he kissing her? Her hands immediately came up to push him off of her and she pulled back wiping her mouth not even thinking about how bad that looked. "I.. uhm..." WOrds. WORDS! Why were words not coming? She just looked over at him deer in headlights. "i... we... No!" she said. She was freaking out. She didn't even know him!

She wanted to go back to the coffee shop. She should have never gotten into this car with him. Who knows what else he would try. Then again her powers were much better than his. If she could calm down she could erase what just happened from his mind and hers. Her heart was racing too fast though. She really didn't have much control on her abilities and had a feeling if she tried it'd just end up bad. She'd end up forgetting everything or showing him all of her memories or something horrible. To erase she had to be totally concentrated. And she couldn't do that right now.

And there was the queue.

Davoren sensed he'd gotten as far as he would on natural wit and charm alone. Which was pretty far, all things considered. But now the fear was overriding her curiosity, and she was panicking. He didn't know what the trigger for his power was exactly, but he knew how to "throw the switch" as it were.

"Its okay, calm down," he said in a voice that was both calm and soothing. His other voice, the one that hypnotized and enthralled those who heard it. "This feels good... you want this. You deserve this." He still had to be careful. Say the wrong thing, and she might catch on and run.

"All those other girls, they get all the luck. Why not you? Don't you deserve it? You're so much purer than them, you should be the one getting all the cute guys. And they'll be so jealous... you got the handsome and rich one... they'll envy you..." The more he spoke, the more sense he would seem to make.

Noah didn't know what came over her. She was freaking out, absolutely freaking out and ready to get out of the car and sprint back to Hammel wherever that was from here. She really had no idea where exactly they were and that even scared her more. She reached for her cell phone, she didn't know who she'd call. She didn't exactly have any friends but she'd call someone to pick her up. Maybe the cops if she had to....

Suddenly though she looked back at Dav. He was talking and she felt calm. Her eyes locked with his and the panic stopped replaced with soothing feelings and thoughts she never thought she'd have but they felt so right. She was with a handsome boy who she was attracted to and he liked her. She didn't know much about her but they clicked right? The other girls were jealous. She was just being paranoid he was safe. This was safe. He liked her. He'd never hurt her.

She didn't talk or say anything but she moved closer to him listening to him talk. She didn't even register that it was him talking and not her own thoughts. She didn't blink, just stayed connected to him. He was a snake charmer.

And like the snake from the Jungle Book, Davoren had once more enthralled the girl. The best part was, he didn't even need eye contact. Just afe well-chosen words... thank goodness she wasn't deaf. That would make this all the harder. Now, he'd slowly wrap her around his finger... make her addicted to him, like a druggie to her favorite poison.

Slowly, he leaned in again, kissing the girl once more. He was determined to make her his. Not out of any sort of affection, mind you. The man named Davoren Cross thoroughly cared for no one who was not named Davoren Cross. He wanted her simply because she existed. Existed to be owned... controlled.

He hand rested on her thigh, slowly stroking her leg. "Doesn't that feel good?" he asked her. Of course it did... the human body always craved attention, regardless of the mind's morals. "I could stop if you want... but you don't want me to, do you?" He'd gotten adept at weaseling out bits of sentences to "emphasize."
