If he knew she liked the bagels so much, Riley would have bought more for her. It wasn't as though he was pressed for time, nor was he short on cash. But for now, that last piece of bagel was all he could offer and he was glad she enjoyed it.
Riley of all people should understand the importance of hiding a dark past. His haunted him every once in awhile. His father's voice still plagued his thoughts at his most vulnerable moments. He definitely understood keeping mum about it.
He smiled when Angela reassured him that it wasn't bad that he was nice. "Thank you. For a moment there I thought I was doing something wrong." He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly and gave Angela another laugh.
"Yes. I am. So really, don't hesitate to come by. My place is called Patching Adams. I'm usually on site jobs but if you call me beforehand, I will drop by the office." He nodded, not wanting to discourage her from coming over.
He stopped walking when she said she could make her own way. "It's no problem, Angela. Thank you for obliging an old man like me." He chuckled, waving at her as she walked away.
Riley truly hoped she would be okay. He knew she was keeping a lot inside. Hopefully, with time, she'll trust him.
