[Riley Adams]

"Don't mention it," Riley shrugged, happy to have the man smiling again. His smile widened considerably when Danny showed his appreciation of the food. It really wasn't hard to please Riley, evidently.

"Oh bed sounds good." He grinned, leaning back on the chair he was sitting on. "I can't recommend anything since I hardly leave home to do anything but work and meet Josh and Cobalt for meals. Oh speaking of which, you mentioned you were friends with one of them from before. Which one is it? Ben, Josh or Cobalt?" He inquired.

"Me? Continue work." Riley laughed, licking the crumbs off his thumb before reaching out to grab his coffee. "I've got about...ten more file cabinets to sort through. You would think after twenty odd years of being in this business I would have gotten the hang out of the computer."

Danny was happy to have gotten Riley smiling again, and his smile widened. Good, the man was still normal and he hadn’t upset him. That was very reassuring.

“I’m sure that’s not true!” he said, sitting up a bit straighter. “I’m sure you know plenty of places! But if you do ever feel like getting out, I know some great places to eat if you want.” And he meant it, although he liked Riley’s food a lot too. But that wasn’t very nice to say, was it? The point was to get Riley OUT, not to beg him to come over to his little studio apartment and cook. He lifted his head from the sandwich—which he’d returned to quite happily—at the question.

“Oh, it’s Cobalt.” He smiled. “We grew up together. We lost contact when he came, uh, here. This is the first time I’ve seen him in…” He paused. “Around thirty years. It’s great.” And his grin returned. He tilted his head to the side as Riley spoke. “Do you want some help? I’m not bad with computers. I used to use them to plan out the design of the model before I made it. Maybe I could do something? It’s the least I could do…”

"Oh it really is." Riley chuckled. "It's just work, meals with my friends and sister. That's pretty much what I do with my time. I don't mind it so much though. Routine has its perks." He smiled and nodded at Danny's offer. "That sounds good. I'm always up for food. And if you know places, I trust they'd be great."

Riley briefly wondered if it was at all weird that someone who had just moved into the place he'd been in longer knew places more than he did.

Nah.

"Cobalt?" Riley's eyes widened. "I see! So you've known him since before Hammel? That must have been nice." He smiled widely. He admittedly knew close to nothing about Cobalt's past except that they had been in the same school together without even realising the other's existence. Showed how cripplingly shy teen Riley had been that he had closed off many contacts and didn't really make too many friends.

"Help? Oh no, I couldn't. I only hired you for the models so I really couldn't impose." Riley shook his head with a shy smile. "And besides, you need that sleep, really. You look terrible." His tone held no malice and his face was etched with worry as he stood up and approached his newest colleague.

"Would you like me to call you a cab, Danny?"

If Danny could cook like Riley could—and this was just judging on a couple of sandwiches, mind—then he couldn’t blame the man for not going out a lot. HE certainly wouldn’t be going anywhere. Tons of good food that he could make himself? Danny wouldn’t ever leave the house. So it didn’t bother him that he knew more places than Riley to go for food. It was out of necessity. Danny could cook, but only bachelor-foodstuffs. Eating out was better.

"It was really nice," he added with the smile that always appeared on his face when talking about Cobalt, "and I’m happy to have met him again.” Very happy. Even if they were having difficulties, he always wanted to be there for Cobalt.

“But I’m happy to help—” he began to protest, feeling that it was only fair after he’d blurted out all his problems to Riley, but he stopped, looking a little embarrassed, as Riley said he looked terrible. He hadn’t thought it was that bad, but now that Riley mentioned it, he was awfully tired.

“All right,” he mumbled, nodding, then looked up at Riley and smiled. “If you’re sure. And if you could, that’d be great. Now that you mention it—“ The smaller man hid a yawn with his hand as he rose “—I am a little tired. Thank you, Riley.” He smiled at him. “For everything.”
