AJ had hardly slept a wink the night before. Instead he had spent most of it setting up ramps and the rest sitting outside his roommate’s bedroom door, completely dressed, holding his new skateboard, and waiting for Sam to wake up. He had learned from a more than a few past experiences that most people preferred to be woken up in the middle of the night by a rambunctious boy jumping onto their bed. Still it was taking every ounce of his self control to stay where he was.
He didn’t know much about his roommate. Other than the boy’s name was Sam. And more importantly that Sam also owned a skateboard. And after his first stunt hadn’t went exactly as planned, AJ thought maybe he would use a few pointers. Or at least someone to wreck beside him. Beside his board was still in working order, and his road rash had almost completely healed.
Plus his next plan was sure to go better. At least this time, he plan forwhen if he wrecked.
And finally Sam’s door opened. AJ almost leapt into the other boy’s arms from his excited. “Hi. ‘Bout time you wake up. I’ve been waiting forever. So come on grab your board. I’ve got it all planned out. And this time I won’t wreck into little girls. At least I don’t think I will. But ya never know I guess. But that’s part of a great adventure,” he said, speaking so fast most of his words ran together. “Well come on, don’t wanna waste the whole day. Get your board.”
Ten mintues later (because there was no way AJ was taking ‘no’ for an answer) the boys were standing out by the pond where AJ had set up two ramps on opposite sides of the water about twenty or so feet across and a swinging rope from a tree limb. “Isn’t it beautiful?” he asked, beaming at his roommate.
