Breaking Point| Leo

Where Is he? Never around when you need him is he. Probably off wandering around somewhere. She thought in a sort of disgruntled tone. Te girl was looking for her friend, and he wasn’t yet to be found in any of his usual haunts. She needed to go over some of the finer points of Egyptian history. The complexities of their culture fascinated her to no end, and her best friends seemingly endless random knowledge was the icing on the cake. Which brought her back to the current problem at hand.

Where the hell is that boy?

Aki had even forgotten to take off her glasses in her haste to go look for Leo. The designer eyepieces clung to her face as she looked around every corner for Leo, trying to find him. The first place she had looked was the library, but he wasn’t there. She thought that was sort of unusual. Of course, he wasn’t in his dorm. Apparently Zac had been bothering him because when asked he had just said he’d gotten up and left. Considering how much of an ass Zac could be at times she didn’t blame Leo for not wanting to be around him. Not by the pond since she had just come from there. There was only one place left she could think of to find him.

Aki walked her way to the courtyard, wondering if he would even be there. Sometimes that boys whereabouts could be so predictable if you knew the right places to look. What could he be doing anyway? She turned another corner and lo and behold, there he was. Standing there staring off into the distance. Aki silently decided she was going to creep up on him like she usually did to creep him out.

Her shorter form moved over silently until she was very close. She had set the book she had been carrying down and set her bag with it. Her muscles tensed like she was going to make a jump, her breathing slow and even. Numbers started to count down in her mind as she got ready to jump. The adrenaline surged through her as she leapt, right onto Leo’s back. She had to be mindful of her wrist, which she was pretty sure was broken from her escapde at the lake, but he was tall.

Leo walked sluggishly though the courtyard, his hands slipped into the front pockets of his blue jeans. He was having a horrible day. He just found out that he had gotten a particularity bad grade on his math test. A C-, so while it was still barely passing it brought his overall grade back to a solid C. He was even making progress with the damn class. Studying hard and doing extra worksheets. Still it wasn't good enough. He just didn't get it. On top of that he had Zac who just kept on piling on the insults. Not that it was unusual for his roommate to be sour, it just seemed to go on and on.

With a snort Leo kicked a stone and let it skitter though the finely groomed grass. Zac wasn't even the worst part of his day. He had a doctors appointment for his eyes later on in the evening and he wasn't looking forward to it. The doctor could only bring him bad news or tell him the same thing the doctors have been telling him for years. Then they would tell him to take his Vitamin A pills and yada yada. With a deep sigh he stopped, pulling his hands out of his pockets and rubbing them across his face and through his hair. He was reaching his breaking point today and he wasn't sure how long he could hold together.

It wasn't going to be long at all.

Before Leo could react to the force that hit him in the back he was already face first on the ground. His nose throbbed with pain and he could feel what had to be blood trickling from his nostrils. With a groan he rolled over onto his back to see the the face of Aki beside him. His face scrunched up in a scowl. Why was she always stalking him? He thought as he brought his hand up to wipe some of the blood off his mouth. If there is one thing he couldn't stand it was the taste of blood.

He fell face forward, which she hadn't expected. Had she really surprised him? As he fell she landed on her hands and hissed in pain, rolling over. Aki's glasses were knocked off her face into the grass, blending into the well manicured foliage. Her thoughts flashed but she managed to throw up a passable shield in her mind so none of them escaped. Her body continued to roll until she was holding herself up with her good wrist and sitting on her knees. As she looked over at Leo and saw he had fared a little worse for her surprise. There was a small line of blood coming from his mouth that he promptly wiped away. Then it happened.

" What the hell is your problem!" He exclaimed in a very angry tone. The girls face froze in nothing in pure shock and for the first time the telepath found she had nothing to say. Leo was yelling. Not only that, he swore. When did he ever swear? Never, that's when. She looked over, the shock dancing brightly in her greenish grey eyes. She forgot about her wrist for the moment and rolled over so she was sitting.

" S..s.s.sorry." She stuttered out, flustered by how angry he was. She hadn't meant to make him angry, but then again she didn't give any real forethought to what she had been doing. Would any other person have gotten this angry over it? Aki stood, brushing herself off. She needed to find her glasses. After a moment she gave up and and put out her arms to help Leo up. It would hurt when he gripped her one wrist but she didn't care because the trouble maker felt bad for causing her friend such distress.

Leo stayed on the ground, tilting his head back as far as he could to see if he could get his nose to stop bleeding. The effort was useless of course since he just couldn't keep still. He was just so upset. Turning his head he watched Aki get up off the ground and apologize for her actions. She seemed utterly in shock by his reaction. Maybe he was a bit harsh, but seriously, what was her problem! She always had to be sneaky and get herself into trouble and he was the only one who got hurt out of it.

Leo could feel his hands giving a few twitches and the hair on his arms rise. He was working himself up and he could feel the pent up energy inside of him itching for some sort of outlet. And an outlet it found. Leo reached up and grabbed Aki's outstretched arm instinctively, not thinking about the turbulence of his powers. With a small flash he felt the electricity flow from his palm through her arm and down her body, finding rest in the ground beneath her foot. He hastily recalled his hand but not fast enough. The damage was already done.

"My god. I'm so sorry. I . . .I didn't mean. . ." Leo's voice was remorseful and any anger he had at Aki was directed back on himself ten fold. How could he do this to his friend? What was his problem?

He reached out to grab and her wrist crunched as the bones that were so obviously now broken grated together. She didn't flinch and definitely tried to make sure the pain that was caused didn't creep towards Leo. That would just be cruel. But it was nothing compared to the cruelty of the next thing that happened. Whether it was on purpose or a freak accident of fate a white hot pain flared through her wrist and arm. The sensation of liquid lightning ran through her arm and one side of her body until it was released into the ground. Her wrist felt like it was melted for a moment, then nothing. Numbness spread up-to her shoulder. The limb just hung at her side like a lead weight.

" L..Leo. Leo I can't move my arm. I can't even feel it." Her voice was whispered and a little hoarse. She looked at her arm then at him, tears in the corner of her eyes.
"My god. I'm so sorry. I . . .I didn't mean. . ." His voice was remorseful, and all the anger he had gathered only a moment before was gone in a flash. An accident then. She wouldn't be able to ignore her arm any more though. Somewhere in the back of her mind she knew that she would have to go see the on call doctor about this but that little voice fell silent.

Her mind was rushing around in shock as she took in the events that had happened so quickly. She had made him really really mad. In fact, Aki realized she had never made Leo that angry before. Never in all her time at Hammel with her constantly bugging him had she pissed him off that badly. Maybe he would be really annoyed once and a while but never...so mad that his powers had exploded like that.

" Leo, I really can't feel any of my arm. And I know my wrist is broken. I can't feel it at all. What happened? I don't get it? I didn't know you could do that!" Her voice was soft and filled with confusion. How had he done it?
