Snow. Thick snow covering the courtyard and everything in site. The trees, the grass, the sidewalk, the buildings, the light poles, the benches, everything, glistening in the sunlight looking oh so pretty. This sparkling fluffy frozen flakes of water, so innocent looking, yet so deadly.
Faith stared at the offending powder for a long time before stepping foot on it. She was never a huge fan of snow. She'd grown up in a relatively warm place, Atlanta. It didn't snow there and if it did it was never enough to really cause anything but excitement. Of course back then her powers hadn't manifested too, so the fear and loathing of the fluffy powder also hadn't manifested yet.
Since she grew into her powers however Faith developed an extreme distaste for snow. Electricity and water, of any form, didn't really match up and if she had a flare, which tended to happen when she had a cold, which she did currently, she was sure to fry. Frying hurt. But even worse than that, her hair would friz up like mis frizzle from the magic school bus on a bad day. No no no, it was not good and no amount of hair products would help tame the beast. And she just couldn't handle that. Faith was pretty, she was known as pretty and that included her hair and she'd rather DIE than be caught dead looking like a frizzy mess!
But even more important today was getting to the damn mail box to mail her documents to the hospital she was born in. She was determined to find out who her birth parents were... she didn't even have their names... she didn't have a thing and she knew that the hospital would have records. She was sick of not knowing and needed to mail this today, before she changed her mind.
So the tiny, fair skinned girl carefully shuffled across the packed snow, being so careful not to slip. She was moving so slowly, she was so careful and was sure she looked absolutely ridiculous.
Finally she reached the big oak tree, perfect, only 2 thirds left to go! Faith stood up straight, clutching her envelope to her chest and taking a breath celebrating her small accomplishment. Just as she was about to continue she felt a large snowball hit her square in the cheek. Just as predicted Faith's powers went nuts, the frozen water seeping into her pores and her body went in shock sending a huge electrical current through her body and making her hair go poof. She was furious. And even worse in the midst of her self electrocution she'd lost control of her limbs and her envelope went flying! "SERIOUSLY!?" She said not having the time to worry about her hair and chasing after the envelope, it landing right at the feet of the asshole who threw the snow ball.
