The courtyard was the last place she'd expected to spend her first few hours at Hammel, particularly now that there was snow on the ground. Rena wasn't a fan of cold even when she was dressed for the weather, and today, she most certainly wasn't. Granted, she'd slung on her favorite black faux-leather coat before the tour of the grounds, but it was really more decorative than functional. If she'd stuck with her plan to immediately go to the library, it would have more than sufficed to deal with any meager cold drafts, but as luck would have it, the library just wasn't in the cards for her. She'd made a fool of herself during the tour- getting lost, having to re-ask questions she should already know the answers to, and even getting her guide's name wrong once. She never made those sort of stupid mistakes. She wasn't sure if it was the whirlwind events of the past few days, or perhaps the excessively long trip to Hammel, but she was obviously not at her best.
As she finally reached the end of the hall, Rena ran her fingers through her short, choppy hair, and took a shaky breath. Before she could do anything else stupidly embarassing, she stepped up to the door, shoving her hand against the handle roughly.
The door didn't move.
Probably because she was on the 'pull' side.
With a soft hiss, she pulled back the handle, slipping around the door frame as soon as it opened far enough. The cold air hit her suddenly, and she clenched her teeth. Once she started to walk, it would be bearable. Once she moved her pace up to a jog, the cold would likely actually be enjoyable. A run certainly seemed like the best way to clear her head, and put her morning missteps behind her. Hammel was supposed to be her fresh start- things couldn't start going wrong with early.
Of course, first she'd have to ensure she wasn't going to get lost off school grounds. Perhaps a few warm up laps around the courtyard, as she eyed up the surrounding area, would be wiser. Rena began to walk relatively aimlessly around the corridor, trying to find landmarks she'd be able to spot from a distance.
