When Levi woke up, it felt like his spine was being twisted.
He curled in on himself, clinging to his knees, trying to will the pain away, until it became unbearable and he got up to take something. The movement helped some, and when he tried stretching, there was a strange pressure on his back. "Ow, ow, ow..." he muttered, then pulled off his teeshirt and walked to the bathroom. He couldn't think of anything that would cause that kind of pain, but maybe he'd been bitten by something? (Not a radioactive spider, hopefully.) The young meta twisted around, trying to look at his back in the mirror, and discovered two large bulges under his skin.
And that's when the wings erupted.
He fell to his knees in pain, but once the large, pretty wings were out from under his skin, he felt better. Holy... Levi reached over his shoulder and ran his finger over the edge of one. It felt sturdier than he expected, so he tried moving the muscles in his back. He flapped once...twice... and again before he confirmed that he could really move them on his own. He had wings.
...Awesome.
Levi spent the next hour or so trying to figure out how he could wear a shirt over the wings without cutting one. It was frustrating, and it was also why he accidentally missed the window between the time Evan got up and when he went to his first class. He wanted to tell his boyfriend, he had to tell his boyfriend, but Evan was always a stickler to applying himself in class. He wasn't going to interrupt class....
But he also wasn't going to his own. Pre-Algebra meant nothing when he had wings. So that was why Levi ended up on the training field before ten, shirtless and with his wings in full, shiny glory. The wet grass soaked the hems of his jeans, but he didn't notice that, nor the fact that his skin was producing a light, sparkly dust that was getting kicked up by the flapping of his wings.
Now, how to take off?
