Clairaudience. A pain, yes, but quite interesting to say the least. It gave her a sense of knowing. Knowing everything. Did she like knowing everything? No. Maybe. Okay, sort of, but she didn't like finding things out that were being hidden from others. That was how she'd first learned of her power and it was a constant reminder of that horrible creature she'd once been. Not a good thing to be reminded of all the time. In fact, it was probably the worst thing to remember.
As much as she enjoyed being in the know, she also hated the horrible headaches and sensitive hearing that came with her power. Being in Hammel didn't help. She could still hear people across the campus just as well as if they were standing beside her. If someone was standing beside her, she winced whenever the person's enthusiasm made them raise their voice. It was a wonder she hadn't gone deaf yet. Wouldn't that just be something? A deaf clairaudient? Probably impossible. But when she was wincing at the sound of the slightest bit of noise constantly, she believed it could happen.
For that reason, she often found herself away from everyone. The only people she ever hung out with was her inner circle, but they always seemed to be busy when she wasn't. That, or they didn't want to deal with her. So, she went out to the training field, ipod in hand and a determination to not hear anything. It let her think of the more recent things she'd learned. Such as, a boy, nearly her age attending Hammel was keeping from his girlfriend that he stole for a living. And even worse, he'd told a guy that he barely got along with. Who did that?
Aleks knew that if she ever met the boy, first off she'd wanna slap him for being so careless, but more so, she'd want him to teach her how to be sneakier. Here she was, the ultimate prankster, and she wasn't as sneaky as she liked to think she was. In fact, her pranks were becoming predictable and that was simply unacceptable. But it was unlikely that she'd meet this boy. And if she did, she probably wouldn't approach him. She knew the basis of what he looked like, only because she'd had a class with him once, but she didn't remember him that well so she probably wouldn't recognize him anyway.
The only way she'd recognize him was by his voice. But for now, she was out to run and tune the world out.
