Not Another Roommate [Madison]

SLAM!

The door leading into the dorm area Jessica was forced to share with girls who she didn't understand, and really didn't want to bounced off the rubber ring embedded into the wall to keep knobs from denting the sheet rock. Jess had a habit, it seemed, of slamming doors open, or closed, when she had even the slightest irritation. It was habit, from back home.

Slam something if you want to be left alone. Or if you're excited about something. She'd learned it from her mother, who used doors and the shutting of as signals to the rest of the house.

Regardless of her motivations and current mood, Jess stopped at the sight of suitcases.

"Damnit." It had been crowded enough with three, now there were four. AND she had a crap ton of homework to do, AND she was nursing one of those precious migraines, AND she was still sore about her trainer's name change.

"2012, you suck." Grump, grump, grump. "What's your name then?" That was to the girl who was unfamiliar and obviously moving in.

She looked a little surprised when the door was slammed and stared at the girl who was slamming around clearly not in a good mood, she knew it would probably be best to avoid her but that clearly was not going to happen when she walked to her and asked her her name. She was not sure what to say she wished she could disappear but instead she took a deep breath to relax, why cause problems.

"Hm? Oh, I am Madison Knight, You can call me Maddy though." she said quietly and held her hand out. "Its nice to meet you... uhm..." she bit her lip realizing that she did not catch her name yet. She tilted her head to the right slightly. She hated being new and not knowing people, how was she convinced to leave the school where she knew people.

At least she had some kind of manners. "Jess," a brief handshake and then her back pack was thrown in the general direction of her own space and Jess raised her eyebrows at Maddy.

"Welcome to Hammel, blah blah blah, I'm sure they gave you all of that shpiel when you got recruited. That we're 'special', and what not. Well whatever. I mean, yeah it's kinda cool to be able to do stuff, but it doesn't make life easier." She'd hoped it would. When the first Hotty had picked her up at the hospital, she'd thought life was absolutely turning upward and outward. Instead it seemed be on that same track of blah.

Annoying.

But if there was one thing Vermont was good for, it was hot guys.

"So what's your... deal?" It seemed to be the obligatory question, and hell if they were going to be housed together, it was best if Jess knew ahead of time so there weren't any unpleasant surprises.

She nodded in agreement with how it was not going to be easy, she already knew that she felt like a freak before she had a power now she felt worse she sat on her suitcase thinking for a moment about how things were changing and deciding to suck up her fears and just try to talk to people, Starting with Jess.

"Its nice to meet you Jess. Hm? Oh my 'thing'. I guess I duplicate myself, though I cannot seem to do it consciously yet. Though it hasn't happened at an awkward time yet knock on wood." she smiled slightly and ran her fingers threw her hair. "what about you Whats your 'thing'?"

"Hey, that's useful if you ever want to skip class. I would totes use that in gym. I hate gym." Okay, this might not be so bad. So far the other girl seemed all right. As long as she didn't take any of her stuff or push in when Jess wanted to be left along, it would be all good. Better than good.

"I'm always connected to the internet. Or anything that's wired to be on the internet. I intercept texts, see peoples blogs and videos and stuff. I'm getting better at not reading peoples bank accounts and stuff, but if I'm tried it's a headache." Weren't powers always a headache though? That had to be the MOST common complaint she heard around the school. "It's useful though. Google anything during a test if I can concentrate enough."

Throwing herself into a chair, Jess lounged with terrifying posture. "Do your duplicates come out with clothes on, or are they all nekkid?"

She nodded as she listened. She never thought about sending a duplicate to class for her, when she could control it better it probably could be useful. she blushed slightly when she asked about her duplicates. "I.. uh.. thats a random question." she said with a weak laugh and ran her fingers threw her hair. "usually they come out wearing what I am.. not sure how that works but does." she said tilting her head. "That seems like a useful power too though, google when ever you want it." she said smiling.

The Madison girl wasn't so bad after all. She seemed nice enough. Quiet, but nice. And Quiet was better than loud. God, Jess couldn't stand it when roommates played music super loud at all hours. More than one musical device had come to a cruel end while roommates were out. Just... "gone missing".

"Yeah, being ever connected to the web has its perks definitely. Downside too, there's some SUPER GROSS stuff out there. Crap that I'm pretty sure isn't legal. Or in the really really dark grey side of legal."

With a completely straight face Jess continued, "I fully plan to rule the world one day. What could anyone possibly do to keep me out of their business?" And with that her face broke and she laughed. No, not laughed, guffawed. "Oh man... that'd be so awesome. My Uncle would kill me though!"
