Dream a little dream [Open]

Lily had fallen asleep quickly, despite her desire and need to stay awake because today was not a sleeping tablet day which meant that she'd be dream walking unless she could control her powers. She'd not slept the night before either and it helped to be awake at night and sleep during the day since that meant that everyone within a one mile radius were awake too. She'd try her best to catch catnaps during the day in order to make sure she didn't mess up and slip into someone's dream.

The other week she'd found herself face to face with a couple making out. She really had just found a place to hide and stayed there till it was over not daring to look or listen. The dream felt like it had gone on for an eternity. The astral plane had no time limit. When it ended she'd been booted out and she'd been wide awake from there on in. Please dear God, don't let that happen to her again. Not the same guy or the same girl or anything of the sort.

Things were black for a long time before her own dream started and she was happily content for a few moments until she got frightened in her own dream bu something lurking in the shadows and the dream melted into something else. She twisted around when things began to take shape and a whole knew seen came into play. Once she focused on where she was, her eyes found the owner of the dream and the owner of the dream had in turn spotted her.

Lily gave a yelp and covered her mouth in shock brown eyes wide. She spoke behind her hands with hurried words.
"Mi dispiace. I didn't mean to come here. It was purely by accident...If you could wake up, I'll be out of your dream..."
She knew that this would become lucid dreaming for the dreamer now since she'd triggered it by actually being seen and speaking. Lily bit into her bottom lip and stared at the other person lowering her hands.

Noah returned to her room finally after the worst testing experience of her life. She was a good student, she studied hard and math was her favorite subjects. It was one of the few where she wasn't expected to ever talk and there were never any group projects or really the need for close contact or conversation with anyone else. She had this test in the bag too. She'd spent hours learning and perfecting the night before only to get nervous at the last second and forget everything. It was just one of the charming things about her abilities. The moment her nerves got in the way she so often forgot everything she actually wanted to remember and instead remembered every useless piece of garbage she'd ever learned. Of course the teachers were aware of this, and Noah would be able to retake the test at her on leisure but it still was embarrassing and it made it difficult for her not to get upset.

She let out a sigh as she reached her room throwing her bag to the side and changing into a long t-shirt before climbing into bed letting herself pass out which wasn't the smartest of ideas because whenever she went to bed sitting on something that made her upset she seemed to have dreams mixed with memories of hers and other peoples which could sometimes get very... difficult.

Noah's chest rose and fell as she fell deeper and deeper into sleep darkness covering her eyes and her mind seeming to clear before a very different image started to form. The sun was shining and the green grass shown as brightly as emeralds stretching as far as the eye could see. Cows filled the fields mooing and children played and danced around them. Noah smiled, she was back in Nebraska, her own memories, her own safe place. Here it was simple, everyone knew each other and she felt safe enough to be able to talk and express herself unlike in Hammel where she just felt uncomfortable most of the time.

Noah was wearing a white sundress that flowed like water down to her ankles. Her feet were bare and her hair flowed long down her back shining like freshly spun gold. She was running towards her friends when she heard someone, someone she didn't know. Her world crashed, breaking into a thousand pieces like a shattering mirror as the stranger came into full view.

"Excuse me?" Noah asked confidently. This was the only place her voice could speak without shaking and she felt safe. She didn't believe that this girl wasn't a dream. She must have just belonged to someone else's memory that she was now remembering. "Who are you?"

The moment Lily had spoken up the dream around her had shattered into a million and one fragile pieces and Lily gasped slightly looking around her when the dream faded into nothing but fuzz once more that she was so used to when the mind realized that something was there that should not have been there. Who was she?, the girl asked. Lily could fix this. She'd been showed how because if she didn't fix this, it would turn into a traumatic dream for the dreamer and she'd be in danger as well so Lily closed her eyes and thought for a moment, taking a deep breath before opening them again.

A soft smile spread across her lips and her eyes shone warmly.
"You don't remember me? I lived down the road from you."
That one always worked. It would have helped if she'd gotten something like a name from the girl before she'd slipped into this dream.
"Your dress is beautiful..."
Lily glanced down at her own dress. A short, powder blue off the shoulder dress which barely grazed her knees.

Good. She'd come dressed but was this dress her own or from the other girl's dream. 'Come on...' she begged the girl nervously half bouncing impatiently. 'Dream, make a scene. It's safe.' She realized she was bouncing impatiently and quickly brushed her hands over the blue skirt swaying softly instead as she hummed in hopes to keep the other girl calm enough to keep dreaming. Staying in this void was never good. You never knew what kind of monster would come out to attack her for interfering in the dream.

Noah listened to the girl. A neighbor. She thought back on her own self. Noah's town was very small and her own neighborhood only had a few houses on the book... each with acres in between each other and she was sure that this girl was not one of them. She must have belonged to someone else. She was someone else's memory she was just sure of it. A memory once again that didn't belong to her meshing with her own thoughts and world only confusing the poor girl more.

"I should forget you... you belong to someone who is not me... and I need to forget about your memory and move on." She said more for herself. She so hated this. She couldn't wait till her mentor helped her forget other people's memories entirely without the side effect of forgetting her own short term memory. Her power had proven to be rather complicated.

When the girl complimented her dress she looked over again and smiled. "Thank you." She said then sighed watching her become increasingly antsy. "Ok. Who are you?" IF she could pinpoint her to who's memory she was she'd be able to continue dreaming. It usually worked out well once she'd sorted her mind out.

Delilah didn't see the scene around her change. It was fuzzy again. Did the girl know she was dreaming? Dreams didn't work that way cause the dreamer would wake up soon afterward and snap... Lily would be kicked out with a massive head ache and a heart pumping. Lily moved a little closer to the girl when she felt the stroke of a shadow or something across her back gasping slightly. Why was the girl even asking questions? Did Lily just walk into the dream of another dream walker or something? This was strange... The girl shouldn't have been able to ask such an exact question...

Lily frowned at the girl's question and bit into her bottom lip.
"I don't know. This is your dream. Not mine."
Delilah muttered softly glancing around. Sure enough, the girl's mind was reaching out, touching her, testing if she was real. Lily closed her eyes tightly and waited to be kicked out of the dream. Waited for the girl to wake up with a start. She'd never really had someone before her that would turn around and question what she said to them.

That meant that the dream was about to come to an end for her, most definitely. She just prayed she didn't get attacked during this particular dream. Her eyes shut quickly and then the thought came to her and her eyes opened to look on the girl's. Maybe if she tried again.
"I'm your neighbour... I live road from you."
She had to believe it. Her subconcious mind would believe anything within the dream right? Lily just had to sound convincing.

She sounded convincing right? How could there be any doubts?
