Meeting in the common room (Abigale, Avery)

Being a less-than-sociable person, Jonah had spent the first week or so of his stay in room 301 hiding in his room. It wasn't that he disliked his roommates or anything. In fact, he didn't know them that well. It was just that he didn't open up to others easily, and if he couldn't hang out with his good friends then he preferred to be by himself.

After a week of hiding, though, Jonah couldn't stand to be in his room a moment longer. He was trying to read an insanely difficult book- MacBeth, to be exact- and he just couldn't make himself comfortable. He had been laying on his bed, but that was only comfortable for so long. He wasn't about to consider the uncomfortable chair at the desk, either. That seat was only good for staying awake while doing essays.

Finally, Jonah broke down and moved to the common area. It wasn't that much better than his room, but there was a couch there that wouldn't kill his back after twenty minutes. And hey, he couldn't hide from his roommates forever. Maybe one of them would strike up a conversation and distract him from this horrible homework. He didn't always get along with new people he met, but he was at least willing to give it a shot, especially since he had to live with these two people.

Yawning quietly as she stepped out of her room, Abigale sluggishly dragged herself towards the center of the common room, anywhere further away from the room next door, really. Muttering quietly to herself, she frowned as she rubbed her eyes clear to regain her vision, something that had gone wobbly and rather hazy a couple of hours ago. But, for the three chapters she had painstakingly written, she considered it completely worth it.

Not noticing Jonah at first, completely focused on getting the furthest away from whomever had been stupid enough to try to touch a hair curler with his / her bare hands, she continued muttering as she slowly, slowly made her was across the room. Her black bunny slippers barely making any noise, to her at least.

" Who .. The hell .. Is stupid enough to .. To .. Put his bare skin upon the glowing hot surface of .. Do they not teach common sense any longer? " she muttered, her vocabulary greatly affected by the books she had been reading before - attempting, at least - going to bed.

It was not until she felt a slight sting in her lower back that she turned around to find the source of her discomfort. And, much to her surprise, there it was! Perched upon the couch, much like the Raven had been upon the pallid bust of Pallas, there he sat. Her new room mate.

".. Greetings" she crawed out, immediately mentally recoiling at the sound of her voice. Clearing her throat slightly, she looked at the person .. J something she believed him to be called .. And smiled ever so slightly.

It was quite interesting to watch Abigale walk across the room, especially since she didn't seem to be heading towards any one specific place. In fact, it looked like she was trying to get away from something but having trouble finding the right spot that would be farthest away from whatever it was that was bothering her. Jonah hoped she wasn't bothered by a spider or something, he didn't like being the designated spider-killer. He had to deal with it enough when he lived with his mom, and he didn't want to have to do it now.

Something about the way she spoke made Jonah realize that this probably didn't involve bugs, though. She sounded distracted more than anything else, and Jonah belatedly realized it could have been some kind of side-effect to her powers. What it was precisely, Jonah didn't know, but he figured she knew how to deal with it, or if she didn't then she would at least ask for help.

"...hi," Jonah said, delayed and with a hesitant voice. Even though he had been living at this school for two years now, he was still cautious with everyone new he met. You just never knew if someone was dangerous or not. Better to be safe than sorry, and all that jazz.

After a moment's thought, he added, "You ok?"

Slowly taking in Jonah's words as she scanned his appearance, Abigale tried her best as to ignore the discomforts she was feeling and remember as much of her new room mate as possible. Clothing, accesories, the way his hair was done, it all tended to give at least some information of another's personality.

"Ah, yes. I'm afraid that I have a bit of a tough time controlling my abilities when I'm tired .. " She said, voice slightly hoarse but better than before none the less. Continueing to look at the other, her eyes immediately fixated on the book within the other's grasp as they ran over it. Recognizing the back of the cover, but not completely sure if she was right, she decided to take the action that all 'teach yourself: MANNERS!' books instucted her to. The Introduction.

"I'm Abigale Q-quinn, by the way.. May I ask, that book..? " She said, tilting her head slightly towards the object in question as she finished her line. Congratulating herself for pulling it off alright, used to her own occasional stuttering, her gaze returned to the other's eyes. Strangely undiluted pupils, and ever brightly blue eyes staring into his.

Jonah had figured that this was Abigale, since he highly doubted that Avery was a girl. Still, he nodded in response and said, "I'm Jonah."

He didn't have any first-hand experience with trouble controlling powers. So far he had just been lucky enough that his powers didn't work at all if he didn't have enough focus. As a result, he had much more experience with the other end of 'powers not working,' where he would go cross-eyed trying to focus on a gadget but nothing would happen. He didn't envy those that seemed to have trouble turning their powers off, either.

At Abigale's question, Jonah looked down at the book in his hands. "What, this thing?" He couldn't hold back the scowl as he flipped it over in his hands, inspecting the cover. "I have to read it for an assignment."

Then he looked back up to Abigale and continued his train of thought, saying, "I don't really see why I have to read it, I'm not going to read books for a living."

(( ARGH!!!! I'M SO SORRY FOR THE DELAY!!! Stuff happened, and life was being a bitch. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!!! ))

Smile widening slightly, Abigale chuckled. "Well, you're not going to be counting lamp posts and multiplying them with the clouds shaped like triangles on the sky for a living either, are you?". Shrugging slightly, relieved as she felt herself wake up ever so slightly, she continued: "And though MacBeth might not be your foremost choice of literature .. Knowing how to read in a useful skill t-to posses nowad-days. They say it's k-kinda like trying out new food". Adding the last part, she stood silent after that.

She remembered having found Shakespearian literature rather hard to comfrehend once as well. But that was a long while ago, she felt as least. Back when she was still confusing a Raven with a Crow.
