Being a Dragon (Fifi)

The year of the Dragon had begun. The luckiest year on the Chinese zodiac. Stella was trying hard to act like a dragon as she stood before the door of Miss Hart's room. She needed to be confident, and strong, and, since she really did not want to meet Fifi face to face, very very lucky.
But Stella was not a Dragon, she was a Water Rooster, born in the month of the rabbit, and she did not feel very confident, or strong, or lucky. But, while Stella didn't know many students, she did listen when Zac talked about his friends. And so she had learnt the reason Moe never came to talk and drink tea and paint her nails was because he (and THAT had been a shock) had left. And Zac had also said a few things about his friend Fifi, whom the quiet girl had only run into once or twice.
Both times, though it had been some time ago and her English hadn't been very good, even Stella had been able to tell what was being said was not complimentary. Mouse, she thought, maybe.
But Zac had said Fifi was sad, because Moe had been her friend. And while Zac had said something about not knowing why she was so upset because HE was Fifi's friend and Stella had murmured something reassuring but she knew what Fifi meant. It was different, having another girl to talk to. Stella missed Naomi. And while she wasn't quite ready to do something so forward as go to Fifi and say "do you need a friend?", she had made cookies.
Cookies to leave outside the door, without having to actually talk to anyone. Stella wasn't a Dragon, after all.
