Forgot Something (Leon.)

[Jalen August]

After the whole mess with Cody at the cafe, and waking up in Leon's bed after passing out, Jalen had left her purse in the boy's room, which he had taken care of to bring with him. The only reason why it dawned on her that he had it, was because she had it on her when she passed out, and he had probably brought it with him out of courtesy, and then in her mad rush to avoid the situation instead of talking things out, she had left it behind in the dark room.

The blonde was wearing pajama pants and a Nightwish band t-shirt, her hair up because her scar had torn again and was badly infected. After Leon had almost kissed her, she figured a little puss and blood wouldn't bother him much. She was wearing the necklace he gave her as she knocked on his dorm door, hoping it would be him that answered and not one of his roommates, one of whom she thought she could be good friends with, but that wasn't the point this time around.

"Leon, are you there? It's Jalen," she said, loud enough for whoever might be behind the door to hear. She had been texting him on and off, but had been avoiding him face to face. What was she supposed to say to him now? Why did high school have to be do dam confusing and filled with drama? She leaned against the door, rapping on it further. "Please, open up, I think I forgot my purse here," she paused, biting her bottom lip, "and I need to talk to you."

It was a typical night for Leon; sitting around in his own skin and watching TV, essentially wallowing in his own hole. He couldn't understand why Jalen would text him but as soon as it came to actually seeing him she avoided it like he was a disease. After the shit storm she had brought him through the least she could do was actually tell him to his face why she wasn't around. Leaning back on the couch he could at least enjoy the solitude of having nobody else around. Sighing he decided that it was time for his almost hourly smoke break.

He walked over to the window and leaned out as was the case every time he didn't feel like getting dressed and walking outside in the cold. He lit up a smoke and inhaled as he looked out at the grounds and the entrance to the dorms. He was fairly sure he had seen a wisp of blonde hair moving through the door but it had just been a split second. It wouldn't of been so bad if he hadn't been thinking of her so much but it was like he jumped every time he saw anyone who looked remotely like her. Dragging in the last of his cigarette he flicked it to the ground and watched the dying embers for a moment before going back inside.

That's when Leon heard the knocking at his door. He had no intention of answering it until he heard just who it was. "Just a second!" He practically screamed as he ran to find his clothes. Looking around on the floor the only thing he could find was his pants. Slipping on the pair of jeans he rushed to the mirror and moved his hair away from his face. At least he didn't look as bad as he felt like he did. Finally he walked to the door and began to open it. He had no idea what he was going to say or where to start.

Leon looked at her, his eyes already emotional. "Come on in... I think it's still on my night table." He said gruffly, trying to keep from feeling to much. He really was to much of a romantic, every single girl this far had brought him to this state. He moved aside and opened the door the rest of the way to let her into the room. He wasn't sure what to do next but he couldn't just let it go. He waited for her to enter and he closed the door gently behind her. He then noticed she was still wearing his necklace, and was here in her pajamas.

"So what all brings you here then? I mean aside from the purse..." Leon asked, articulating each word clearly. He wasn't feeling himself at all right now, and he would be amazed if she couldn't notice that immediately. He sauntered after her, trying to decide what his next move would be, and his mind racing with more and more emotion. Anger, sadness, happiness, and anything else he could possibly feel was all rising up inside of him.

Jalen waited patiently, trying to think of what to say once he actually opened the door. She only had to wait a moment to look into his chocolate eyes, and she automatically smiled. “Hi,” she said to his face, slipping into the dorm and to his room where she had slept not too long ago, spotting her purse. She didn’t go through it, she trusted him enough to know that everything within was still there, all she really cared about was her wallet though.

“Well, it’s Saturday, I thought we could hang out or something,” she said, plopping down on the couch, which was warm for some reason, “you know, watch movies or... You weren’t sitting here naked or anything were you?” She asked then, crinkling her nose at the thought. Jalen glanced at him, taking him in again. Damn, he was really good looking for someone who smoked. “Because I think seeing you shirtless will suffice,” she said, smirking. Yes, she was going to avoid talking about feelings for now.

She was still looking at him from her place on the couch, wringing her hands together nervously. The next piece would come out in a bit of a rush, “And I missed you and I’ve been thinking about you, and I just wanted to talk to you and get to know you some more, because I think you’re the easiest person to talk to and I feel like you get me already without me having to try very hard.” There was a bit of hope in her eyes, that maybe they could patch things up and just be friends for now, because evidently, she wasn’t ready to be attached to anyone any time soon.

There had been a lot on her mind lately: boys, school, and what she was going to do with her life in general. She was ready to graduate, ready to leave Hammel, but she wasn’t sure about a lot of things. It was like she was being set free in the world without a road map, which wasn’t really a problem, but she had too many relationships with loose ends that needed to be tied, or at least sorted out. And even with many years of being here, she hadn’t managed to make a single female friend, although Andi was pretty cool.

Her finger tips began playing with the necklace around her neck, which reminded her, “Thank you, you know, for this,” she smiled softly, lifting her long legs underneath her to sit cross legged. “And, yeah, I’m sorry about our date, that didn’t really go as I imagined it would...” Nervous laughter came out, an apologetic smile on her face. “I want to make it up to you, I just don’t know how yet. Maybe buy us some concert tickets or something,” she smiled broadly, pushing her long hair out of her face.

She wasn’t really sure where she was going with this, but she knew she wanted to make it right.

Leon did his best to offer up a smile for Jalen as she found her way to his couch. That's when he caught sight of the missing pair of boxers from before, wedged in between the armrest and the couch cushion. He quickly walked over as fast as he could without being conspicuous and sat down. As he settled in he shoved them under the cushion where they couldn't be seen and he let his eyes wander over to her. "No... not naked, but I mean if you want a bit of a show later I'd be happy to oblige." He said quickly, making sure to send a small wink her way before settling in and letting his racing heart take a break.

"I've been thinking about you too... you get me, even when I don't make sense. You inspire me to fill the pages of my journal, even when you haven't been around it's been slowly filling up because of you. I want to know you even better yet." Leon said seriously, his eyes meeting hers for a moment before he let them fall. It was hard for him to admit that he needed anyone. He fidgeted on the couch for a moment and looked back up at her. He thought about the entries, she had already begun to haunt his mind, and he hadn't even known her that long. He always seemed to fall fast and hard, and now he could tell just how much he wanted this one to work. Wasn't that always how it was though?

The necklace was beautiful on her; nobody could deny that. "You're welcome... I wouldn't want anyone else to have it." Leon said instantly, his eyes filled with honesty. He had owned that necklace through a lot of relationships, and not a single of the girls had ever known he was a kleptomaniac. She had gone on a single date with him and already knew his biggest secret. It was good to be so open with someone, but it wasn't exactly typical. Yes he was outgoing and ready to talk but some things were just kept in his mind and not pushed out by his tongue. He looked back over at Jalen, realizing that as soon as she had started to speak he had stopped being anxious. Already he was feeling more like himself.

Leon looked at her for a moment considering the repercussions of a second date. It was a chance he wanted to take; but was it one that Jalen wanted to take? "You don't have much to make up to me, and I'll agree that wasn't what I had in mind for a first date, but we could always do a second... I like the sounds of a concert. I also don't want to push you anywhere though. So why not start with tonight?" He said, trying his best to let her know he could work with being friends but was more than willing to try again. He let his eyes hold hers for a moment before he began to think of what they could do tonight.

Watching a movie would be a good start, at least it would keep their minds off of Cody. Leon had recently bought Thor and was thinking of watching it, but he decided to suggest a different title to Jalen. Something about watching the movie seemed like a bad idea to him."You said you wanted to watch movies hey? How do you feel about Water for Elephants? Or are you more in a mood for Captain America or something like that? I mean I have a pretty wide selection... you can choose if you want." He said; unsure of what kind of movies she would want to watch today.

Leon kept looking at her and waiting for the response before his mind started to wonder just what she wanted to do with him. He knew he wanted to keep her around, and if that turned out to be just as a friend it was something he'd be able to deal with. For now he would just have to let his heart take the back seat and keep letting his mind do the driving. "So how have you been lately... I know that a lot of shit has gone down for you... are you okay?" He asked softly, beginning to voice the questions he'd had in the back of his mind the whole time.

Jalen watched him sit next to her, and as he spoke, she laughed. "It's a little too soon for that, don't you think?" She asked with a smile, glad to see that maybe things could be mended. Leon at least seemed to be giving off that impression. At least they were on the same page. Neither wanted the relationship, whatever it was, to end. They both wanted to keep getting to know each other and that automatically put the blonde at ease. It was easy for her to become attached people, and become clingy. If Leon hadn't noticed that in her texting, then maybe they were of the same kind of human.

Already ideas were filling her head, "Then we'll go to a concert," she said, not really thinking of it as a second date, "you pick the one you want and we'll go." Jalen said, not really keen on planning the whole thing right this very minute. She would rather enjoy the moment and the company. She was playing with her fingers again, "Seriously? You have Water for Elephants already?"She smiled, "that only came out last week, you must be a pirate or something." She laughed lightly. Great, they were talking about movies, that was harmless. "I've read the book so yeah, I wanna see if the movie even compares, which I seriously doubt," she said, ready to get comfy for the next couple of hours.

And then he broke the surface level bubble into something deeper. Maybe her and Leon would never be together, but whoever did end up with him, was going to be one lucky girl. "I've been alright, things are complicated and I'm eager to graduate but at the same time I'm not," she offered a half smile. Jalen absolutely hated it when she couldn't explain herself. "I have this feeling that drama is never going to leave my side though," she held his deep brown eyes with her own and gave a sigh. "What about you? You have everything altogether?"

Leon kept his eyes on Jalen. A concert would have been great, but it would have to be perfect. Anything that they both liked would be perfect really, and at least they liked the same music. He smirked for a moment and gave her his most innocent look. "Well... maybe a little... but they do an awful job protecting them!" He said, doing his best to maintain an innocent face. The fact of the matter was that he spent a lot of his extra time pirating movies off of the internet. It wasn't like it mattered unless he got caught.

It took him al of a few seconds for Leon to get off of the couch and find the burnt DVD. He slipped it into the player and flopped onto the couch again, sprawling across it and leaning in close to Jalen. "I understand... I'm right there with you... I want to get out of here, but at the same time what comes next? Up until now people have told me what I need to do, now all of a sudden I have to figure it out on my own. Just so you know I won't be leaving your side anytime soon either." He said with a smile.

Flicking the TV on absently he waited a moment before sighing softly and answering Jalen's question. "Honestly, it's been a weird few weeks, I got my ass handed to me by some ginger kid in the training room the other day... the asshole stole all my stuff to boot. And well the whole date thing threw me for a loop but I'm figuring that out too." He said offering her a smile. He wanted to say that it was alright, and that he wouldn't interfere at all, but he didn't want to make a promise he would only break later. He could feel how close he was to her and he shifted carefully, sliding just a little bit closer.

The movie had started but his mind really wasn't on that. Leon would much rather have been talking at this point, so he struck up the conversation again before it could completely die. "What makes you say that drama won't leave your side? I mean I know how life can be, but some things can be avoided..." He trailed off before chuckling and continuing "I also know you're a lot like me though and probably prefer to face your problems head on."

Sitting further back into the couch, a simple smile stretched across the girl’s face, wondering why Leon was trying to play innocent, or convince her that he was. “I wasn’t trying to condone you, most people here aren’t made of money, and as far as I’m concerned, those big shot actors, and directors and all that make enough money, so, so what if we can save a few dollars from pirating things, right?” She asked, knowing that she had rambled. But she had her opinions about many things, and she also liked sharing them, especially with someone willing to listen.

The blonde nudged Leon’s arm as he sat rather close to Jalen, grinning as she did so. She was just playing. “Good, at least I have someone to rely on.” She said with a grin, giving him a bit of a noogie, his long hair flying all over the place and becoming knotted in the spot she touched. He had the look of a badass, even some of the habits of one, but he could be a real sweetheart, just like her, and he had a lot of soft spots, just like her. Jalen was starting to believe that maybe he was one of her soft spots.

Her dark brown eyes watched the screen, before raising a single eyebrow and looking back to Leon. So much for him being a badass, “You got your ass handed to you?” She asked, her mouthy agape in surprise. Then anger ensued. What kind of jerk stole someone’s stuff? But there was something else in Leon’s eyes that told the girl he was only telling half the story. “What’d you do to ginger to make him steal your things?” She asked, a smirk on her face. She could only imagine the shenanigans Leon got himself into, especially if he was anything like her. Jay ignored the part about their date, and also tried to ignore the boy getting closer to her – he still had very obvious feelings for her, some of which she reciprocated.

It was also obvious that he wanted to talk, and she sighed. “When you like being with people, drama usually is involved, relationships aren’t perfect,” she said with a small smile, sage advice leaving the lips of someone quite young. Her dark brown eyes held his, and she nodded a couple times. “Yeah, I think we’re a lot alike, you and I,” she said, feeling the impulse to rest her head on his shoulder. At least he smiled nice. “You don’t want to watch a movie, do you?” She asked then, feeling his body draw nearer to hers, almost automatically.

“What’s on your mind?” She asked, looking up at him then, her hand pushing the hair out of his face, and she scrunched her nose. “I totally messed up your hair, I’m sorry,” she said, chuckling softly. There were a lot of things on her mind, like how safe she felt with him, how she still wanted to kiss him, and many other things she simply couldn’t put into words at the moment. That was what her journal was for.

Leon laughed as his hair was ruffled. It wasn't like it mattered that much anyway, he was bound to have gone to bed in the next little while if Jalen hadn't shown up. "Of course, I'm a friend to the bitter end... or sometimes sweet, it all depends how you play your cards." He said with a small chuckle escaping his lips. The awkwardness seemed to have left almost as soon as she was in his dorm room.

It hadn't taken her near long enough to figure out that he had antagonized Odion into fighting him, but the ginger had taken it way over the line. Leon had just been screwing around and having fun, but the next time he saw Odion it would be a whole different ball game. "Well I did antagonize him a little bit, but I just ran my mouth and was a little bothersome. I've already figured out he has to be a time controller because I never saw him hit me, or spit in my face, or punch it. Well I guess you get the picture, I didn't see him do anything, it was like I blinked and he was gone and I had a swollen jaw, wet face, and no stuff to take back to dorm." He said, recalling the event as it had happened in his mind.

He smiled at her and kept his eyes on hers as he began to speak. "I agree with that... we are a lot alike. I bet you would have caused just as much shit with that guy as I did. And to answer your other question, not really... I've missed you, but I do like the background noise." He offered her a small smile and fidgeted in his seat for a moment. He kept his eyes on her because honestly he was afraid she wouldn't stay for long if he didn't pay the attention she deserved. Of all the things the two could be doing right now, Leon just wished that he could lay his head in her lap and stare up at her face while they talked. Sadly he wasn't about to be that forward yet.

"Don't even worry about it, had you not shown up I probably would have head to bed in a hour or so anyway. And there's a lot on my mind... stuff I'm not sure how to put into words yet." He said mysteriously, trying his best not to make it awkward between them. If she started asking the questions he might be able to articulate himself a little better, but for now he would just wallow in his thoughts. "What about you? What are you thinking about?" He asked, trying to see if the blond was thinking along the same lines he was.

It was damn hard to be right bestide someone you wanted as more than just a friend and act like friendship was coming naturally. He could feel that his body was warm, and he was certain that she would feel cool against him. He shifted and his arm was just brushing hers right now. The tension was rising, and he was having a hard time deciding whether he should wrap his arm around her and kiss her like he had meant to at the kafe or if he should just leave things the way they were. "You just get me... I can't explain it." He blurted out, trying to find a way to break the tension.

“I don’t want to think about any kind of end for some time, trust me, only the good die young,” she said, sending a flirtatious wink his way. Leon had some kind of charm, which was being matched perfectly by hers. She smirked, imagining all the atrocious things that had happened to the brunette. “Sounds like you messed with the wrong guy, be careful who you flirt with there Leon,” she said with a small laugh, teasing him obviously. Jalen had a fair idea of who Leon liked romantically, and that seemed to be the opposite gender. Still, it was hard to imagine anyone not liking Leon. Then again, she was a little biased in that regard.

“I am pretty stubborn…” She admitted with a sheepish smile, but as far as harassing someone who clearly didn’t want to be, she wasn’t sure. “But I’m a girl, so I wonder if he would’ve done the same thing to me, but if he had, I would have no problem hunting him down and kicking him in the balls,” the blonde said with a sinister grin. What Jalen said, she meant – always. Jay smiled upon hearing that he had missed her, she really did appreciate his honesty and how quickly she was getting to know the boy.

Then she raised an eyebrow, “Bed seriously? You must have something better to do than that on a Saturday,” she said with a grin, “you seem the type anyways.” Jalen tilted her head to get a better look at him. Why was he saying exactly what she was thinking? It was the strangest thing, they were on the exact same wavelength. She smiled, her blonde curls pushed again the boy’s shoulder. “I feel the same way,” she sighed, trying to concentrate on the movie instead of her feelings. She was trying to live in the moment, but something just felt off about this.
“I think about a lot of things, right now, I’m thinking about how nice it is to be with you, I could do this all day,” she said confidently. This was beyond flirting now, this was her sharing her heart with him. This wasn’t something she normally did, not with anyone but Cody. Cody… Jalen touched the necklace dancing around her collarbone. “I just think I’m too complicated for some people sometimes…” She said, matching Leon in mystery. “Or that I’m too clingy, but I try to be a good listener and be there for people, I guess I can’t do much more than that.” She offered a sort of bitter smile. This girl had had her heart broken perhaps one too many times in her young life.

Laughing along with it Leon had a little bit to say back. "I don't want to go anytime soon either, and it's true, not everyone is as forgiving of my flirting as you are." He laughed as he finished. Perhaps next time he might not take out his annoyances on a stranger. He paused for a second to think about it. Chances were if Leon managed to find him again he would wipe his smug little grin right off of his face. "Next time I'll have the upper hand and we'll see who has a headache at the end of it." He said with a laugh. The line had been crossed and the redheaded boy had made himself an enemy; one that could very easily take it to far.

"Oh, don't you worry, I'll take my revenge, and I'll make sure he doesn't forget just who I am." Leon said, his mind dwelling on every little thing he wanted to do to Odion. He would make him feel pain whether anyone else felt like he deserved it or not.

He laughed for a bit and said "I'm not nearly that cool, I didn't have anything planned for today so it was a lounge in my boxers and watch TV day." Leon knew he wasn't near as cool as everyone seemed to think he was when he was by himself. The true fun for him usually happened when he was spending time with friends or even complete strangers. He shivered slightly as her curls brushed his exposed shoulder and he smiled as he listened to her answer him. He turned on the couch to face her and met her eyes as she spoke.

Leon simply nodded as she spoke, he couldn't help but agree with her. Of course it would be easy to spend all day like this; feeling at ease, sharing himself, and talking with someone who cared. "You're only as complicated as you let yourself be, and you've done damn well talking with me. It's like I've got a best friend already and it's been like what? A month?" He shot back, his eyes warmly looking into hers.

"Look Jalen, you're not to clingy, I love having you around, and honestly you listen just as much as I listen to you. It's wonderful and refreshing... can I show you something?" He asked softly as he got ready to get off the couch and fetch his journal. If anything showed her what he was talking about, it would be the last few entries inside. It wasn't anything he was ashamed to show her, but he also hadn't ever shown anyone what he had written because of for them.

Jalen was glad Leon was laughing, it made things easier to say, to express, and the blonde could feel herself relaxing and simultaneously trusting the brunette more and more. “Not everyone valiantly flirts as well as I do either,” she said boastfully, “but I seriously doubt the dude was flirting back with you at all, since you probably weren’t flirting with him to begin with.” Jalen could be wrong about Leon’s sexuality, but being wrong never stopped her from opening her big mouth.

“If you need any help, I’m your girl,” she said, unaware of how that could be taken until it was already said. Jalen didn’t mean anything by it, as the two present were in a pretty sticky situation to begin with. She wasn’t Leon’s ‘girl’ per say, but if he needed a wingwoman, she had a pretty sick hook punch. Cole’s ex could attest to that, not that she ever wanted to see that chick’s mug ever again. Jalen laughed, running a hand through her hair absently. “I have a nasty habit of picking and ending fights,” she admitted with a shrug. Leon wanted to get to know her right? She should feel free to blab, right?

“I don’t think anyone would forget you,” she said purposefully this time, wanting to redeem herself via flirting. Jalen laughed lightly, her words meaning something totally different than hers. But that was what made creativity so much fun, how one could manipulate words to their advantage and spur others emotions. Jalen was starting to feel herself being happy, for she was with someone who could understand her need for playing with words. “Can I read your writing some time?” She asked then, unafraid to request something personal from him. It wasn’t just because she felt close to Leon, it was just how she operated, and people rarely said no.

Jalen shifted away from Leon and leaned against the opposite armrest, so she could face him as well. Apparently he didn’t have anything better to do, which actually surprised the girl, and it showed on her face. “That’s not such a bad thing, I just had you pinned as a party animal in my mind,” a finger was propped in her mouth as she thought about it for a moment, when a light bulb seemingly went off. “Oh, are you one of those book types?” She asked, a crooked smile on her face. She was teasing him, but she wasn’t making fun of him either. After all, she herself was one of those books types.

Her eyes searched his as he echoed the words of another. “Like a best friend?” She asked. Jalen couldn’t help the smiled that erupted over her face. He really considered her a best friend? “Has it really been only a month?” Or was he just saying that? She sighed, realizing that she was reading into his words, like she did with so many others. “You’re only as complicated as you let yourself be...” She mulled over this after repeating it, wondering if she was the culprit of her own drama. “Should I stop making friends then?” She asked then, honestly looking for Leon’s opinion.

Nodding as Leon offered to show her something, Jalen didn’t make a remark on how he could so long as it wasn’t pervy. She was a romantic at heart and didn’t want to ruin the presentation if Leon was being serious. If he wasn’t, she could easily laugh about it later. Leon got up the couch and came back with a book, a pretty worn but otherwise taken care of book with only a few blank pages at the back. The rest was full of his penmanship and heart. She managed a smiled, then look at Leon. “You know, I don’t have to read this if you don’t want me to,” her brown eyes sincere, “it’s a personal thing, I would understand.” She said, wondering what had possessed the boy to show this to her. Not that she didn’t appreciate it. “You don’t have to prove anything to me.” She added quickly, her thumb strumming over both the spine and the closed pages, contemplating whether she should look at it or not.

Assuming his permission, Jalen would venture to the back, where there would be entries about her and she would begin to feel guilty again. Just how many guys, and how many tokens from them, could she take?

Leon smiled at her, his eyes meeting hers. "It wouldn't be the first time I've been forgotten, but it's good to know that you're on board with me." His eyes searched her face as he spoke, trying to figure out just what she was thinking. Some days he would kill to be able to read minds rather than light things on fire. At the very least he knew he had left one hell of an impression on her already. "Sure, maybe you can take a look in my secret little book later tonight even." He said smiling; there was enough in there that she should be able to find something she liked. He hadn't shown a lot of people what he had written so it was pretty special for him to even consider it.

His smile never faltered as she pegged him for exactly what he was. "You nailed it... I'm definitely a book person... don't get me wrong I love to party, but that doesn't happen near as often as me reading a book." He did enjoy other things, but at the end of the day the best way to wind down was for him to curl up in his bed with a good book. "It's how I like to wind down... nothing can quite compare to the smell, or feel, or even just the images a good book can put into your head." He said, starting to talk with a little more excitement at the prospect of discussing books. There were a few things that sparked his interests and this was one of them.

Running to his room to retrieve his journal, Leon returned and gently handed it to Jalen and sat down on the couch beside her. "Different people inspire what I write... it's all lyrics or poetry, stuff like that... and don't be uncomfortable because I know who each one is about... it's not written in that one, I write my feelings down in my secret diary." He said with a chuckle. Truth be told he did keep more than one journal, but he always had one at his side just in case inspiration hit. Just because he had reassured her didn't mean she couldn't jump to conclusions and figure out just who his entries were about.

Leon sat back on the couch and watched her read and page through what he had written. Looking at her hopefully he asked "So what do you think so far?" His words had been full of meaning and he could only hope that she liked one of the most intimate parts of himself. It was rare that he shared this with anyone else. He leaned back and waited expectantly, feeling almost as if it was him who was being judged rather than the writing he had done in his journal.

Jalen grinned, “Little secret book hey? Sounds suggestive,” she commented. She simply couldn’t help it, it was too good of a flirting opportunity to pass up. “Don’t wanna see anything too personal if you know what I mean,” she added, followed by a wink. It was just so natural with him.

“I know what you mean,” she said with a little contended sigh. “I have a hard time borrowing from the library though; I can’t stand it when people bend the spins and write in books,” she gestured to herself then, “yes, there’s a book nazi in your midst.” Jalen pushed her blonde hair out of her face and held her smile. Since they were talking about books she might as well let the true nerd show. “What do you like reading then?” She asked then, followed by a grimace. “And please don’t tell me you’re into sparkly vampires or I may have to slap you, and trust me, it won’t be enjoyable.” She laughed lightly then, enough to brighten up the room with its sparkle.

Taking the book gingerly, Jalen flipped to a random page. “I’ll have to find your secret one later then,” she said absently as her dark eyes scrolled through the pages. The words were eloquent and usually referred to some kind of woman in one way or another. “It’s really good,” she said in all sincerity, flipping to a different page, “really.” Jay looked up at him then with a bright smile, her dark veiled eyes peeking through her golden coloured hair. She closed the book then and put it on the floor. “I’ll show you some of my work later, you should’ve told me it was sharing time though, I would’ve brought my journal down.”

Jalen leaned over to Leon and gave him a hug, the sides of their faces pressed together. “Thank you for showing me,” she said softly, her arms wrapped around him tightly. He was one of her better friends, and they hadn’t even known each other that long yet. She was happy to be here with him and have a healthy relationship.

Leon nearly burst out laughing. "Me... I think my books need to abused to show that I love them... I like to make them my own, and such so you might not want to ever borrow from me then." He said, hanging his head in mock shame. Truth be told he couldn't give a single care as to what other people thought of his books, they were his and he would use them how he wanted. "Nope, I only read good books... pretty much rockstar biographies, and fantasy, and pretty much anything that people recommend that turns out to be good." He said, his eyes lighting up as he thought back to all the great titles he had read.

Watching carefully to see which page she was going to read he felt his heart jump as she chose one about his latest break up. He sat with his hands clenched tightly until she told him just what she was thinking. "Thanks." He mumbled, meeting her eyes and blushing ever so slightly as she smiled at him. "Next time bring yours and we'll make it a party... we could be like journal buddies or something like that." Leon said, regaining his composure very quickly. It was very intimate what had just happened, and what was coming next just felt like the right way to finish things off.

Leon pressed his face agains hers as he wrapped his arms around her body. He didn't even want to ask for more. Maybe that's where this relationship would stay, just as two of the best friends people could be. It was healthy, and this was certainly making it a little easier to decide where their relationship would stand. "I like this you know... something about it... it just feels right." He whispered softly against her skin. He was happy, and at least this way he would keep her as part of his life rather than some ex that he wished he could just forget about.
